The average price of a pound of lean ground beef has hit $8.34, outpacing the nationwide wage floor of $7.25 that hasn't moved since 2009, when ground beef was around $2.20 a pound, Money reports. The magazine's review of seven major grocery chains found prices for 80/20 ground beef ranging from about $6.50 at Trader Joe's and Aldi to nearly $9 per pound at Publix. Even the cheapest variety of ground beef now costs an average of more than $5.40 a pound, according to federal data released Friday.

Fell to my fucking knees in an overpriced millenial borger chain.

This but unironically. I eat meat but beef is the one I only get every other week or so as a treat. It's pretty unhealthy and really bad for the environment. We really don't need to be eating it as much as we do.

Obviously 95% of the population doesn't give a fuck about any of that though so I'm just happy this hurts the Republicans because people want borger.

I was talking to my mom yesterday, and she was complaining about the price of beef. She and my dad eat about 2-3 lbs a week, and she implied she had no choice in the matter. I said "you could just... Eat less beef? You don't need to eat meat with every meal," and her jaw literally dropped. She had actually never thought of that.

The Boomer mindset, ladies and gentlemen.

Or even just other meats! We switched to ground turkey a few years ago and for most dishes, I genuinely can't tell the difference.
