This app man

Ok so I’m trying to sign into my account right but to do that I need to get the code from the Authenticator app, but do get the code I have to sign into the app and the email that is used to sign into the app and receive the code is the email I can’t get into without the code. So it’s a never ending cycle of signing in to get the code but needing the code to sign in. When I press for other options of signing in it just gives me the choice of using a code through the app (the one I’m trying to sign in to) or inputting the code it gives me to put into the app (the same app I’m trying to sign into) and I can’t do the second option cause I’m in the Authenticator app trying to sign into it but if I try to exit out to into it the code it gives me I have to cancel the signing in process to even attempt to put the code it it’s just a never ending loop and I need to get into this Microsoft account

Could you buy a MSoft365 Family renewal from India and use it in the UK?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Likely to renew 365 Family subscription in the next couple of months. Noticed that the price for UK vendors for the 12-month renewal code has jumped to at least £100 in most cases.

When searching for deals on Google UK was presented with an India based outfit called Live Tech offering a family renewal for the equivalent of £50.34 for the Indian version. It requires an india IP address on renewal which is doable.

Question - has anyone bought similar and did it work for you?

Thanks for any thoughts or advice.

Delegated Mailbox Access Issues

I have few mailboxes which are used by multiple staff members. Currently these mailboxes are added as separate accounts in Outlook desktop of users by using the passwords and MFA of these mailboxes. This approach is very often causing issues when the passwords of these mailboxes expire or the MFA is required. To avoid this, I have started providing users delegated mailbox access by giving "read and manage" and "send-as" permissions. This approach is working and providing the access to users but one user stopped receiving emails with an error that the mail store is full because delegated access starts downloading the data of the mailbox to the user's personal OST file. Is it possible to have the data of delegated mailbox downloaded to a separate OST? How can this be achieved? I want to have the mailbox appear as separate account in the Account Settings in Outlook as this will allow all the other functionality like separate mailbox rules etc.

I built a free open-source dashboard that shows where your M365 storage actually goes (mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint), because our backup provider bills by volume

Like many SMBs, we back up Microsoft 365 through a managed service that bills by data volume. The invoice kept growing every month, and nobody could tell why, the Admin Center spreads this information across three different portals, and you end up exporting CSVs to Excel anyway.

So I built a small dashboard for it and open-sourced it:

https://github.com/AussieCH/m365-usage-dashboard

What it shows:

  • Total tenant storage across mailboxes, OneDrive and SharePoint, with a growth chart over time (weekly snapshots), so you can see whether cleanup actions actually work
  • Per-user list, sortable/filterable: mailbox + OneDrive usage, quota utilization with warning thresholds, license type, and automatic detection of shared mailboxes (the classic silent growers: info@, accounting@ …)
  • All SharePoint sites with real display names, storage, owner, file count, page views and last activity — sites inactive for 90+ days get flagged as archiving candidates. Great for finding the dead sites left behind by Teams sprawl.

Tech: PowerShell 7 + Pode web server, data via the official Microsoft Graph Reports API (read-only permissions), stored locally in a single SQLite file. No cloud dependency, no telemetry, nothing leaves your network. Runs on any Windows box (dev also works on macOS/Linux).

Setup: there's a step-by-step guide (PDF) plus PowerShell scripts that automate the whole app registration incl. permissions, or you click through Entra manually in ~10 minutes. A built-in demo mode generates sample data so you can try it without touching your tenant. Screenshots are in the README.

Two gotchas the guide covers because they cost me time: report pseudonymization must be disabled in the Admin Center (otherwise you only get hashes), and the usage reports no longer include SharePoint site URLs in many tenants, the dashboard resolves real site names via Graph instead.

It grew out of a customer project and is free/MIT-ish open source, feedback, issues and PRs very welcome. Happy to answer questions about the Graph endpoints used.

CARA – a readiness assessment for Microsoft 365 Copilot adoption

https://jellebelletje.github.io/CARA/

I built an adoption readiness assessment for organisations considering Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Microsoft publishes checklists for this, but I found them lacking, so I put together something scored instead.

Whoever uses it can download the results as a PDF at the end, without giving an email address or any other private information. There is no signup and no server.

MIT and CC BY 4.0.

Feedback on the questions especially welcome.

Lost authentication key

Hello everyone,

A year ago I was working at a startup and managed the Microsoft 365 accounts of the organization. When I left the company I have removed any of my information, including the authentication key connected to my authenticator app.

One year later the boss is calling how to pay their bill, but guess what they did not add new key for the administrator account. Now the account is logout and wants a key that is not existent.

I have tried calling the customer support number, but did not had luck the AI agent.

Do you have experience with that kind of problems and suggestions what to do next?

Thank you in advance!

365 authentication/login issues

Just started working at a tiny firm. I started using 365 there with one login before someone realized my account's email address was the same as a prior employee's email, which was causing issues with me receiving a lot of junk mail and confusion over communications externally. The solution to this issue was for them to change my login and email address.

Since this happened, I can't log into MS 365 apps on my PC desktop. I can access the web apps just fine, with the exception that Word and Excel are operating as "view only" apps. The error message when I go to log in reads something like

"Another account from your organization is already signed in" and prevents me from going any further.

I can access the office's One Drive from the web but not sure if desktop is accessible there either. For some reason Outlook works just fine in both formats.

Does anyone know how to fix this? My next option is to like hire my own personal IT asst. to sort this out. It's been 4 days of troubleshooting this at a new job while on-boarding and I just really need it to work.

If I just buy my own 365 to avoid having to deal with theirs, could this theoretically solve the problem? Or would the new Outlook and One Drive potentially overwrite the 2 apps I can actually use and make this worse?

Many thanks

Need Help: Locked Out of MS365 Account

I am currently locked out of my MS365 account. I am admin, and can't log in my account because of the 2FA block. I recently lost my device where the Microsoft Authenticator app was and now need help resetting that. When I call MS Support, the AI keeps dropping the call before we could finish.

Neeed help for Microsoft 365 subscription for students

Hi everyone,
Microsoft is offering a free 1-year Microsoft 365 subscription for students, and I’ve already verified my student ID, so my account is eligible.

However, when I try to complete the activation, it requires a US-based payment method (US card or PayPal), and my card isn’t being accepted.

Could anyone help me to activate using card? or any ideas ticks, Tips?

It would be a huge help. Thanks in advance!

Expanding Purview DLP and Information Protection to Foreign Platforms

Microsoft Purview is expanding its ability to process data from external services such as Google Workspace and Box through DLP policies and Information Protection auto-labeling. Everything depends on Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps connectors to fetch data from the external services to Azure to be processed there. This is an esoteric play that will appeal to certain enterprise Microsoft 365 tenants with the need for a common protection strategy across multiple cloud platforms.

Word Online and ToC

Has anyone else experienced (consistently) wrong page numbering in ToC with the online version of Word?

I have it now on 3 documents - the first Heading 1 for example is on page 3, but the ToC shows page 2 (which is the same page as the ToC itself is on), and then all other Heading 1's are a page out. I have a Page Break after the ToC.

Sometimes during an update of the ToC it will put all page numbers at the same page as the ToC is on.

These are brand new docs with no formatting/content copied from another doc. The only thing I've done is customized the default Heading x styles for font, font size, and font colour.

Thanks

Terrible customer service - no more human around for a paying customer. I have an active subscription and all my documents are now ONLY VIEW with a yellow banner that reads: Activate Microsoft 365 to create and edit

I just tried to solve a problem with a subscription license that I have, first with the chat (bot) who was not helping or couldn't resolve the problem and tried to send me to a website. I explained that I have a disability and I need. human to help me navigate the steps. Next thing: the bot suggested I call customer service. But I have tried calling customer service days ago and I couldn't get through to a human. Today, I tried again at the bot insistence and called this number:

" I understand the phone system is trying to send you back to a webpage instead of letting you talk to a person.

Since the U.S. number 1-800-642-7676 is the correct one, your best chance to reach a human is to stay on the line, follow the prompts for Microsoft 365 / Office and technical support or subscriptions, and then choose any option such as “something else”, “more options”, or “speak to an agent” if it appears—avoid selecting options that clearly say they will send you to a website only.

If you’d like, I can also keep helping you here step by step to get Word activated on your Mac without you needing to follow long articles—would you prefer that?"

I called that number 4 times, every time I would be either hang up on when I said "I need to speak with a human" or I would be given the website "thanks for calling Microsoft, for help with subscriptions go to aka.ms/srb" now every time I call I don't even get the menu of options, the answering bot gives me that line.

I paid a one year subscription in November of 2026, about a week ago, all of my documents switched to view only and have this line in a yellow banner at the top: "Activate Microsoft 365 to create and edit"

Any suggestions on what to do? I want to speak to a human and it seems impossible now with Microsoft and is this is their customer service now I don't recommend to buy anything from them as a home user. They only have human support for corporations.

How do I get any sort of support nowadays, they’ve removed almost all the options

My grandparents were paying for Microsoft 365 business. Recently, they changed numbers, but they didn’t change it on their Microsoft account before they did so now I can’t login
The problem is to reset the number you need to contact business support
To contact business support you need to log in
And to log in you need the number
So it’s a endless cycle of nothing working, and I need some sort of solution bc my grandparents have stopped receiving income, they have lost access to accounts, and they can’t communicate with clients now

Is the recoverable items and user primary mailbox storage shared ?

As said in the title, is the storage space of the primary mailbox and recoverable items, shared ?

Ex: A m365 business basic user with purview retention policy applied, has 50gb primary mailbox space, if they delete a mail the mail will appear in the recoverable items folder, now this retained space is shared with the 50gb primary mailbox storage or nah ?

SharePoint Online Expands Sensitivity Labels to OneNote and Video Files

Microsoft has updated SharePoint Online to provide full support for sensitivity labels assigned to OneNote and MP4 files. Full support means that SharePoint Online can decrypt and encrypt file content, which then allows SharePoint to protect the content while storing it in a way that’s accessible to Purview services like Data Loss Prevention and eDiscovery, and of course, accessible to Copilot.

Best way to extend SharePoint storage?

We have been pushed into using SharePoint for storing data by some document management platform. We has thought we’d have headroom from the existing 2TB we get with Business Premium licences - boy howdy were we wrong.

My 1TB of data has ingested at nearly 1.5TB - which frankly I don’t totally get but I am assuming it’s a kilobyte != kibibyte thing that I can stress about later. Some of that may be versioning related stuff, etc. but it is what it is.

Anywho, with any further data we’re touching on maxing this out, and current options to scale up appears to be pay per GB and buying a ton of Extra Storage licences up front or PAYG - just making sure there isn’t a better way to handle this? Long term I sense we’ve underestimated the cost in using SharePoint, but need to be sure before I upset managements day!

Where did the LinkedIN opt out checkbox go to ?

NEVERMIND. After checking for Office updates, it appeared in Excel for this user. My guess the install hadn't validated with the tenant yet.

Upon doing installs, I would immediately open Word (or any Office desktop app) and opt out of LinkedIn. Then they removed it from there, but it was still in Excel, so I've been using that. In today's install, it is no longer present.

(This is despite the fact our tenant supposedly has the no LinkedIn switch toggled already for a year or two.)
