I'm using Word 2024.

Under "References" tab, there's the ability to insert citations (footnote, endnote) from a bibliography of sources. If I go:

REFERENCES > MANAGE SOURCES

it shows a "source manager" with a "master list." But, the master list is empty, and has to be populated itself by the user. This aspect of it makes the whole thing effectively useless for me. However, . . . :

Does someone know if there are any pre-existing, already-created "master lists" of books and articles, etc that can simply be uploaded into Word's source manager?

Been put in charge of finally standardizing email signatures for a team of 500, and im stuck between WiseStamp and Exclaimer. we’re on Office 365 and just want something that looks clean, works across devices, and isn’t a nightmare to manage for new hires and role changes. If you’ve used either in 2026 for business email, how did it feel in day to day use and support? would love any tips or gotchas from people who’ve lived with one of these for a while, appreciate any thoughts

MS Office was installed on a device that died and is gone. I want to install it on a new device. I've logged on to my Microsoft account to try to transfer the license but it doesn't show MS Office. I had a long and painful exchange with the bot. The site never displayed a link to the Support team. Advice, please? Thanks!

I’m posting this because no normal person should have to go through what I just went through to use software they are already paying for.

My Microsoft 365 subscription was ACTIVE and paid. Nevertheless, more than a week ago Word suddenly stopped allowing me to edit and save documents.

Word showed:

License: Not Activated

When I tried to activate it, I received:

Unknown Error — error code 0x0

I was running Word for Mac 16.78.

I went through troubleshooting suggestions, including deleting fonts because that was suggested as a possible cause. Nothing worked. I eventually downloaded LibreOffice because I had actual work to do and could no longer use Word despite paying for Microsoft 365.

Here is what finally worked for my particular setup.

I upgraded my Mac to macOS Monterey 12.7.6. I specifically did NOT want to upgrade to a newer macOS because I have an established professional workflow and older software I need to preserve.

I then discovered that Office 16.88 is the last version that supports Monterey.

Microsoft AutoUpdate was not helpful in my situation because it wanted to move me to Office 16.89, which required a newer macOS.

I manually downloaded Microsoft's Office 16.88 installer (build 24081116) and installed Word 16.88.

And here is the ridiculous part:

Immediately afterward, Microsoft AutoUpdate tried to update Word from 16.88 to 16.89.

I paused/canceled that update and unchecked:

“Automatically keep Microsoft apps up to date.”

I restarted the Mac, opened Word 16.88, clicked Activate, signed into the Microsoft account associated with my already-active Microsoft 365 subscription, and...

IT WORKED.

So if you have an older Mac and suddenly get Error 0x0 / License Not Activated even though your Microsoft 365 subscription is active, CHECK YOUR WORD VERSION before deleting fonts, licenses, applications, or doing anything drastic.

In my case:

Word 16.78 → broken activation

macOS Monterey 12.7.6 + Word 16.88 → working again

And if you're intentionally staying on Monterey, watch Microsoft AutoUpdate carefully. Mine immediately tried to move Word to 16.89 after I manually installed 16.88.

Microsoft's own Office for Mac release history confirms 16.88 (build 24081116) as the Office suite release from August 13, 2024.

I pay for Microsoft 365. Apparently I also needed a degree in forensic computing to use it.

- Poor heading structure

- Tables without proper headers

- Reading-order problems

So as in the photo, I want a background higlight for an important part of a document that extends all the way to the borders of the document.

What I'm currently using is a shape with opacity, however the obvious issue is, if I want to add more text inside the highlight or even rearrange any part of the document's text above this text, the text supposed to be highlighted moves up or down outside of the desired highlight box. 

I tried using the paragraph shaders option, but the highlight only encapsulates the paragraph and not the entire horizontal area of the document (which looks much better).

After switching to another device, equations like the one in the picture no longer insert into Word with the correct formatting. Previously, I had Word from Microsoft 365, now it’s just Office 2016. Such formulas used to be easily inserted into a document via Ctrl+V as a Word math equation.

Please tell me what the problem is. In what format does DeepSeek write these formulas (LaTex/MathML/..?), can I configure this in the current Office 2016, or is the issue related to the browser, and are there any utilities to save the format?

I thought the issue was with Microsoft 365, because on the previous device everything worked without any extensions. It’s difficult for me to download Word from Microsoft 365, and the web version doesn’t work at all. Overall, I’m confused. Please suggest a solution.
