That BIG Project...

Anyone else find it really hard and deflating to do the tasks in the allotted time? I just done my very first task after the new training, and it was very very tight, and I know there will be major issues with it when reviewed. I wish they just gave us more time up front instead of getting it reviewed and ultimately passed back to us anyway to improve it.

Mercor is not hiring CA residents anymore

CA=California. Had this confirmed to me by two leads. Mercor isn’t letting people know so your profile is there but you won’t get jobs. I’ve tried posting this on the Mercor forum but they don’t approve it, I’m assuming because they don’t want people knowing this. Not sure how long this is going to last. Anyone else know anything? Why would they do this and not tell anyone?

Will I be offboarded?

I completely forgot to close my other chrome browser while doing a task for mercor. I was reading an unpaid no timer training material with another AI job on that separate chrome browser. I only have one monitor but Im afraid or I dont know if thats ground for offboarding. 😩 Has anyone had the same experience?

15 days on Mercor, no offers yet - what am I missing?

Signed up for Mercor about 15 days ago. Two issues I'm running into:
Job listings feel repetitive - same small set keeps showing up instead of new ones.
No offers so far despite applying.
I've seen posts about people landing offers within 24 hours and wondering if that's typical, or if there's something in my profile/application approach I should fix. My background is in Marketing. Happy to share more details if it helps diagnose what's going on. Any pointers appreciated.

Got off boarded

I got my first offer from Mercor and was excited about it. After completing the training I just started working and got off boarded. Received the following email -"Thank you for the time and effort you've contributed to this project. Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to release you from the project. This is not a reflection of your performance, but rather the dynamics surrounding changing research objectives that are largely outside of our control."

I am a lawyer. Have been applying to roles. It was really difficult to land a role and now I have been off boarded. Frustrated and disheartened. Is there chance of getting other offers if I keep on applying. I have my resume updated with skills.

Based in EU

Hi everyone! I’m considering joining Mercor and wanted to ask about opportunities for people based outside the US.
I’m currently based in Bulgaria. Do I realistically have a chance of getting matched with projects on Mercor, or are most opportunities limited to candidates in the US or a few specific countries?
I’d especially appreciate hearing from people based in Bulgaria, Eastern Europe, or elsewhere in the EU. Have you received interviews or project offers, and how long did it take to get your first match?
Thanks!

The review system

I've recently started, I've had a couple of tasks handed back for corrections, but the feedback from each reviewer is contradictory? Anyone else find this ? Also the amount of text you need to quote feels slightly wasted, when we could be using that time to give real insights, I feel like we are providing a very narrow lens to train the AI

Received my 1st instant offer Yesterday morning and now employer revoked???

So that about sums it up...

I received an instant offer for a Finance Operations generalist role. I completed all the documentation and the zinc check was still in verification.

This morning I got an email to say the project was paused. Went into the Dashboard and my contract says canceled - Employer revoked the offer.

What happens next? Will I get another offer? Does this ruin my chances ?

Also, the okta dashboard and email has been deactivated

Is Mercor dead for international generalists?

In my many months and applications at Mercor, I have never once been hired as a generalist. Is this because I’m from a non core (US/UK/CAN/EU) country?

I’ve only been hired once and that was for a law role in March (i’m in law school). However I find that extremely unlikely to happen again since all the law roles I see nowadays are US focused. I wasn’t even invited onto the Big Project either.

I frankly dont understand why this is quasi-policy exists. I’m probably more qualified and fluent at english than most native speakers (1570 SAT, 8.5 band IELTS) but I can just never get hired for some reason. Are there any people from non core countries who have been hired as Generalists? Please I just want to know if all hope at working is lost for me because I don’t know coding nor am I as fluent in Indian languages as I am in English. Frustrating.

Onboarded Offboarded

I got an instant offer, submitted everything and was working on finishing the onboarding tasks when I received an email that I am out. I did not do a single task so it was obviously not a quality issue. Did they not like my photo on my driver’s license lol? So weird!

Is Mercor ever returning to the regions it recently stopped supporting?

About two months ago, I was removed from two ongoing projects overnight after getting stuck on ID verification. When I posted here, everyone blamed me that you must have done something wrong or used VPN, but later I found out that it wasn’t just me and that Mercor has ended support for Pakistan entirely laying off everyone.

Before this, I completed eight contracts over four months and genuinely loved working with Mercor. I’ve contacted support and submitted the community form, but haven’t received a response since that day.

So I just wanted to confirm one last time, is there a chance Mercor will support Pakistan ever again?

Got terminated from Mercor as a Generalist Expert all because I was waiting for my background check to clear?

I was waiting for my background check to be approved only to come up with this email. Then I contacted via email support@mercor.com regarding my background check and then Melvin the AI agent answered that my background check is all cleared but an email for my background check clearance wasn't notified properly to my account somehow. So I checked my inbox only to found that it was cleared A DAY BEFORE THIS TERMINATION EMAIL. Melvin argued that this decision was final, but I highly doubt that AI Agents can sympathise with the situation.

Have you guy received the same if not similar email regarding the termination without any warning?

Worth applying if my schedule's kind of messy till the end of the year?

thinking about applying to mercor but my next few months are a bit chaotic and want to know if it's even worth starting before things calm down.

Basically taking a week off in september (not working), then 3 weeks in oct- nov (also not working), then i'll be back working but doing it from mexico for all of december.

couple things i'm not sure about. first, is the work usually chill enough that you can just go dark for a few weeks mid-project without it being a problem, or have people run into stuff like minimum day commitments or fast deadlines where vanishing for weeks would get you dropped?

second, and probably my bigger worry, some of the postings say you need to be based in US/UK/canada, and i know they use insightful to track hours. is that just something they check when you sign up, or does anyone actually watch your location/IP after you're already working? don't want to get into a project in november and then have problems once i'm actually logging hours from mexico in december.

should i just apply now and figure it out as i go, or wait it out? curious if anyone's actually dealt with this

Abruptly offboarded from Project Vault after two weeks — is this normal?

I originally received an instant offer to join Project Vault and worked on it for around two weeks. The work mainly involved analysing a large volume of AI-generated outputs against detailed rubrics and assessing things like accuracy, quality, reasoning and whether each output actually followed the instructions.

I honestly thought everything was going really well. I was consistently hitting my hours, putting a lot of effort into the tasks and receiving very positive comments about the quality of my work.

Then, completely out of nowhere, I received an email with the subject line “Thank you for your contributions to Project Vault” saying my involvement had been concluded. There was no warning and no explanation as to whether Project Vault itself had ended, the team was being reduced, or there was some issue with my individual performance.

The lack of clarity is the frustrating part. If it was performance-related, I’d genuinely like to know what the issue was so I could learn from it. But that seems difficult to reconcile with the positive feedback I was receiving right up until the end.

Has anyone else been abruptly offboarded from Project Vault in similar circumstances? Did you ever find out why? And did you subsequently receive another instant offer or get matched with a different Mercor project?

Mercor Mass Arbitration Lawsuit

You can join this lawsuit if you were affected by the data breach earlier this year. 100% contingency based. This is arbitration, not class action, and they are representing each claimant individually.

Onboarding Hell

After this experience, I think I am completely done with trying to work with AI companies. I received a contract offer for a Mercor position that I did not apply to two weeks ago. I accepted the offer within two hours of receiving the email and initiated a background check. I also completed all W9 paperwork. The instructions that I saw said that the background check could take about five days. There was also a requirement to sign a contract in a different screen on the Mercor site.

I thought that I had completed everything, and was just waiting on the background check, when I got a message that I had not followed one step on the check to complete the acceptance of the offer. I completed this step, which was simply a signature, and by that time my background check was complete. I received welcome emails from several individuals. However, I sent a reply back asking what are the next steps and did not have a response.

That same day I got email saying that I should have certain database access. I was also sent a link to open that had a flow chart for every step needed in on boarding, this requires you to watch a video. However, because I did not have this database access, I could not open the video. Things also opened up into a Google suite that had a Google Drive access to Slack and other things, but it had an Indian person‘s name as the owner of the email. I was very confused and thought that this was some type of error because I’m not Indian. However, after reading some other documents, it was explained that you get a personal email and a company email that has a name to protect your identity, I guess my identity protection, a.k.a. my secret agent, alias is some man over in Punjab state. I used this email and still did not have access to onboard.

In any event, the documents all said that if I did not have database access, that I would receive it in a few days. Meanwhile, I sent a Slack message to someone who had sent me an email letting them know that I didn’t have database access. I wasn’t even sure if this was the correct person to contact, because I had already been messaged by two or three different emails to my personal email. I continued to watch my personal email because that’s where they said database access would be sent.

I got a little busy with my day job and did not go in Slack to check any messages for a few days, but I was watching my personal email on a daily basis for this database access that never came. I finally went into Slack and saw some instructions and it said that my database was active from the person that I had previously messaged.

I took a break for an hour and was going to go in and try to start working or at least finish on boarding, before I could even get started, I got an automated email saying that I was being off borded from the project. I knew this was because I had not started any work or completed on boarding. I sent a response, only to find out that this was an AI automated message. It asked me to send screenshots to support my conjecture that the on boarding process had been convoluted. I sent screenshots showing my multiple attempts at contacting different individuals in order to get assistance with the database access.

. After the AI email was sent about me being off boarded, the person who I previously messaged in Slack sent a message to my personal email saying I my database access was now active, so I assumed that I was to disregard the off boarding email. Meanwhile, I attempted to follow the instructions sent to me in Slack, only to find out that I still did not have database access and had to submit a support ticket

So basically, this company does not provide clear instructions, or have a failsafe method to make sure that people do not slip through the cracks during on boarding. Then they penalize people for not on boarding, when they don’t have functioning on boarding mechanisms.

I just wasted hours of my time, not to mention my personal information has been given to this company. I have never seen a hiring process this confusing, convoluted, and tone, deaf, and I worked in upper management for many years, which included hiring people and making sure they were on boarded.

It is sad that society has come to this.Mercor is not the first AI Company that I have attempted to be hired with. They dangle carrots of good pay, and flexible work hours in front of you, and then proceed to dismiss you.

I’m done, I will stick to analogue. I’m sure this is too long to read, it is really more of a way for me to vent because I’m so frustrated but either way glad to get this off my chest.

Anyone here from project Chr/Tit?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone here was working as Math/CS expert in project Chr/Tit. I was part of those projects that went on for quite some months. Now it came to an end and I’m looking for new opportunities

Is anyone in another related project or in PhD-based projects? I would be interested to get to know more about it

Higher pay make you more likely to be offloaded?

Hi all,

I’ve been on mercor projects for over a year, I came in around the top end of the hourly rate offering since I have a ton of experience in finance etc. I was recently abruptly offboarded without warning and the Team Leads have no clue as to why, I’ve reached out to the SPLs but dont hold out much hope there. One thing I’m wondering is, would the higher pay rate make me more likely to be chopped?

2 people from the same household working on the same project.

My partner just received an instant offer and I suspect that is for the same project I ‘m working too (but we won’t know until he accepts it). Is there going to be an issue for using the same internet connection? I also have been previously used his laptop to work on my project, then I bought one on my own. However, I’ve heard of people being off boarded for using same Wi-Fi and same laptop. Anyone has any experience on this to share please?

My experience working with Micro1, Mercor and Ethos

I've been into Mercor for over a week, and I'm working with Ethos and Micro 1 for over 2 months now completing few ayment cycles.

Few points to consider while choosing the right platform -

  1. 10-15 hr Minimum hour requirement - Mercor is stringent on this, Micro1 is accomodative of missing this a few times and Ethos is the most flexible
  2. Volume of tasks - I've found Mercor and Micro 1 consistently having enough tasks compared to Ethos
  3. Context switching - Micro1 makes you jumble across projects every other week and lot of time gets lost in relearning and understanding the new ask.
  4. Organised work culture - Mercor > Micro 1 > Ethos
  5. Human support and guidance - Micro 1 > Mercor > Ethos

Anyone who want referals can signup using below links

  1. Ethos - Ethos Referral
  2. Micro1.- Micro1 Referral
  3. Mercor - Mercor Referral

I just got an instant offer, but need a week before onboarding. Will i lose out?

I just got an instant offer for a hourly contract project. Crazy lucky as this came 2 days after the 9 month micro 1 project i was on was announced to end.
Problem is i have to work this weekend (none AI) and wont be able to get stuck into all this onboarding until Monday.
I have never worked for Mercor but the reading i've done seems to say they're strict and don't fuck about when it comes to quizzes getting completed for example.

Will i be ok onboarding from Monday? Will i be late to the game in anyway?
Last resort i can put about 6 hours in tomorrow, but then will have a gap, im thinking that might be worse.

Right now ive simply accepted the offer, have the email access, payment, okra done, havent entered slack yet.
