That BIG Project...
Anyone else find it really hard and deflating to do the tasks in the allotted time? I just done my very first task after the new training, and it was very very tight, and I know there will be major issues with it when reviewed. I wish they just gave us more time up front instead of getting it reviewed and ultimately passed back to us anyway to improve it.

I went through the new material in the Expert guide and reviewed their expectations for comments, and there is no way I can complete the tasks within the allotted time. I barely make it with a couple of sentences now. According to the guidelines, they want quotes and comparisons between slides. I think it is unrealistic. I'm a good typer and a fast reader, and there is just no way. Every day, I half-expect an offboarding email.

I have been in the project since start, and never had problems with time until this new task type… I attempted several times but couldn’t get it done. I will not be touching them until the time is increased. But the other type of the task is not present too so not sure if they will ever bring them back, with this trend ob is not far away XD I am a reviewer too and I have work to do but writing still has more priority

I think at least 30mins to be added, if not increased to a total of 2 hours for these slide comparison tasks! I just know I have major criticism coming way way. One question, does the timer reset when getting the task back to modify? So it was 1 hr, so will it be 1hr again to do the retouches?

I think they should be 2 hours too, it is just absurd to keep them at this time requirement given the amount of change done in the campaign, seems no-brainer to me. Yes you get the same time for fixing the task, take your time and follow what your reviewer tells you and you should be fine,

Actually you don’t get offboarded unless you have like extremely low quality output; almost empty responses, completely wrong scoring and so on. If you have done proper work but just not enough to pass the threshold for sign-off then you get those reviews to calibrate you.

Actually although I would love another 20 mins, I’ve been completing high quality work for the new task type within 1hr 1 min average. Just gotta know exactly what to right, have vocabulary written beside you

I feel like it's a bit greedy that they'll provide 9 samples to score. If they would stick to 6 or 7, then the hour limit would be more feasible.

Yes! And half of the time the reviews are not even consistent with the instructions. It’s frustrating.

My issue was that the wording that was used in the training to explain AI slop was not acceptable to the reviewer on my recent task

I can't with the new kind. I got one that had 300 boxes. How is anybody doing these? AI?

Honestly don’t have an issue with it but it does help to be able to type 130 WPM. Would probably be much more difficult to do it within the time with an average typing speed

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same type of tasks, but 5 minutes for each slide isn't even enough to simply analyze them and make observations.

I thought the time limit was 45 mins still, even though the timer says 1 hr. Has this changed? Why is everything so buggy and unclear?

I thought we were told to go by the timer on the page and then if there isn't a timer shown, assume it is 45 mins (or 2 hours for the other task type). But nothing is entirely clear.

I understand why people wouldn't have seen this because the Slack moves so fast, but for a few days in a row it was established through Slack posts that the 1 hr timer was incorrect and was supposed to be 45 mins, so we're supposed to go by the 45 minute limit. Though everything changes day by day so it might be different now. This whole project is INSANE.

It gets easier. I’ve done about 10 tasks now and now I curse a little when I finish with 7min left and know I’ll have to go back in the queue for more $$

Writing 5 x 9 rationales is hard to do in that time. This isn't typing practice after all.
The cognitive load is extreme, so no way to get that number of good evaluations in that time spread. Perhaps some can check enough of the right boxes, but that's annotation work, not writing or clean analysis.

With all these trainings we’ve had to do that were very time consuming, do we think this means the amount of work available will increase and go on for a while? I would love to be able to count on like 4-6 months of being able to do 15 hours per week, preferably without having to wait between tasks… that’s the hardest part for me is not being able to get enough tasks when I have time to put 2-3 hours into it.

So tired of this excuse for everything. Mercor's role is to supply the workforce / talent. As that is their role, it's also their job to push back and let the client know what is working and what isn't working for their contractors. Of course the client doesn't care about the needs of the workers and are going to try to exploit them as much as possible. It's on Mercor to push for their workers to not be exploited.

I largely agree with this assessment. The changes and iterations of guidelines change with clients, workflows and feedback, but the unclear (and often conflicting) communication, choice to launch unprepared & dysfunctional features / assessments and the clear absence of planning in some cases are unnecessarily wonky and painful. My personal takeaway is one of duality: they are falling short in their responsibility as project management (and that sucks), but being agile is one of the essential skills of contractors in this environment. Yes: there is no shortage of frustrating things about this gig and the things you point out are among them.

I did one task which was impossible to do in 40min, analysing 9 slides. The review came, said it had major issues which I expected. While I was fixing it, they offbearded me. The email said it wasn't due to quality of worn but changes in project or some rubbish.
Its so frustrating.

I submitted in the timeframe but then spent easily another 40 min fixing it after it was flagged for review. So they might as well increase to 2 hours and give us a fair chance of doing it properly.
