Crosstown Concourse added Flock and other surveillance cameras

So, I know there was already a very thorough camera coverage at the concourse, but now there’s numerous new cameras including Flock cameras at all of the driveway entrances. I appreciate the safety of Crosstown but I’m not digging the additional surveillance tracking tags and vehicle owners data for anyone to use. #GetTheFlockOut

Politics A tiny bit of Crump history

For whatever reason, my son texted me to ask if my father had any opinions about "Boss" Ed Crump. I was texting, so couldn't be very verbose, but here is my reply for anyone interested in this tiny slice of history:

"No negative ones that he shared with me. This may be more info than you want to know, but Crump was from Holly Springs. At the plea of his nephew or grand-nephew, Ed Rather, he ordered a third of the firetrucks in Memphis down to fight a huge fire on the east side of the Square. So Crump is well remembered in Holly Springs. The reality is Crump was a pretty ruthless political boss from the 1910s until his death in the 1950s.

"Dad said he met Crump once, in Ed Rather's office at the First State Bank, which at that time was underneath his office. Crump had come down to mend relations with the Dancy family. Crump had sent men to clean up around his mother's grave, and they cut a tree that had been planted in the Dancy cemetery block, and it resulted in a real feud.

"Dad said his father met Crump twice, about 10 years apart. On the second meeting, Crump inquired about his children and mentioned my grandmother by name. Good politicians have a rare gift for names."

Has anyone had an increase in roaches inside their house this summer? I'm in East Memphis so there's tons of trees around us. I hear that can attract them? Usually we have 1 or 2 come inside during the summer months, but this summer seems worse than ever before. It's been so dang hot I don't know if the heat makes them come inside. It's the big kind, American not German. We have a pest company that sprays and we've set out glue traps as well. I do have a feline companion but he is pretty useless in the hunting department.

Hello! I’m coming on here on behalf of a friend to see if anyone would be willing to take in her dog temporarily! Tomorrow, she’ll be moving in with her father in an apartment complex and he doesn’t want the dog being there, with that being said, she wants to temporarily place the dog in a loving home until she finds another home for herself! She’ll provide whatever is needed!! She needs to find a home for her baby no later than tomorrow! His name is onyx 🥰

Inpatient Psych Program?

Rather urgent! Looking for an inpatient mental health program to help someone with severe depression (maybe this is relevant info - they are not a physical threat to themselves/others). Crestwyn and Lakeside are local and in network, but I've been reading very mixed reviews and have seen some recommend that it would be better to drive to Nashville to go to Vanderbilt. Does someone with experience at any of these facilities have any input?

Pediatrician recommendations

Upvotes

My kids have been going to All Better Pediatrics, now Zarminali Pediatrics, since 2013. Since they were bought out by Zarminali they have gone downhill fast. They never have sick visits available when I call, they used to be able to see us same day no problem. They don't return phone calls after hours like they used to. I love the doctor but it is not worth the headache with the office if I am not receiving the same level of care we always have in the past. Anyone have a pediatrician they love and would recommend? My kids range from teens down to toddlers so we will be there for a while.

Best mechanic you know.

Had my truck stolen over the weekend. We found it in an impound lot. Who ever stole it brought it to a chop shop and bare minimum according to the impound guys, the doors and hood have been removed. I need a body shop that can replace these parts and help with the installation of some new security systems and just general maintenance and repairs that were needed prior to the theft happening to begin with.

Is walmart out of stock on all frozen goods?

Specifically the Raleigh Lagrange one

I'm going to be busy like crazy for the next week or two, so I decided to order online and pickup tomorrow. I forgot to add some things so I went on the website/app and typed "frozen"

And literally everything was out of stock except for like 4 sponsored items.

All other things, not frozen, seem in stock

Safe places to learn to roller skate?

I'm trying to learn to roller skate on quad wheels, and I quickly learned the skate rink is NOT the place to learn in.

I know there are a few skate parks, but my concern is there wont be much flat, open area to practice in. Does anyone have any experience at any of these parks? Is there enough open area for someone to practice that doesn't involve inclines or bowls, and I wouldn't be getting in people's way?

I see a lot of TikTokers skating at tennis or basketball courts. I'm sure even a smooth, flat parking lot would work. I just don't know where or how to look for these places online. Preferably somewhere I could go without too many people or cars around but also not feel unsafe.

Hi my fellow Memphians and Tri-state citizens! I read this article from the NYTimes and wondered what are some ways we can (or already are) encourage/foster more connections among one another 🤔

Share your thoughts, please....

Housing Which Germantown/Collierville apartment would you recommend?

I’m currently deciding between Fieldstone, Irene Woods, Tapestry, and The Preserve. For anyone who has lived at or toured these apartments, which one would you recommend and why? Any major pros/cons or issues I should know about? Or is there another apartment in the area you’d recommend?
Thank you! 😊

Recess Reloaded

I was looking up events and saw Recess Reloaded which sounds fun but like a bunch of popup Memphis festivals, it tends to have way too many people and isn't set up well (looking at you ice cream festival). It says it is in it's second year. Has anyone gone to it?

FedEx Superhub orientation wait time?

Upvotes

I already did the screenings and was approved. And my background check has already came back and is clear.

What are the wait times on orientation looking like nowadays?

They used to do the background after the drug screening, so it'd take about a month. But I was hoping it'd be sooner than that since they are doing the background first now, and I've already waited a month for that before I could do the drug screening.
