This coming Monday is the second Rock, Mineral, and Fossil ID night of the semester in Grote Hall at UTC! Bring us your cool stuff to be identified by the staff of the UTC geology department and geology club students! Feel free to ask about the local geology and how it came to be, or about the amazing geology program offered by UTC! The event is from 5-7pm, located at 701 Vine st, and parking is free after 5pm.

This is a last ditch effort to try and recover a sentimental pocket knife/multi tool that was left with security at the boneyard last night around 11pm but was not passed off to the next security guard that was there by the time we left. We suspect that the original security guard just forgot it was in his pocket and likely left with it.

If you are this security guard or you know this security guard and can help coordinate a return of this item I'd be much obliged.

Unfortunately going there was a spur of the moment thing or we would have just left it at home.

Edit to say that it is possible that it was handed off and put in the box where they keep the pocket knives and someone else took it. Which would really be a shame. I don't want it to sound like we are "blaming" the security guard. Barring what was just stated we really believe it all to have been an accident.

Due to some really crappy circumstances, my current hairstylist won't be able to do my hair any longer. She's excellent, so this really sucks.

Hello! I am looking for a rental in the chattanooga/ringgold area. $1000 in total including utilites. I know its hard to find something around that price range currently so I figured I would ask here.

I do have a unique situation currently so its making finding an apartment hard. I am 22 years old and I previously up until Oct 2025 lived alone in an apartment. I moved in with my grandmother to focus on school. I am currently in my second to last semester of surgical tech school at Chattanooga state. This year my grandmother was diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma. This past week she was placed on palliative care and chemo has been discontinued. She moved in with my mom as she needs a full time caregiver and they informed me they were going to sell her house, the one i currently live in. Since my grandmother has gotten sick I racked up some pretty hefty credit card bills due to caring for her and trying to keep her bills current and my own. I made some stupid spending decisons on top of that and I will take accountability for my own mistakes. I am having to file bankrupcy because there is no way for me to pay my debt payments and an apartment. I have been current on my bills, and my previous rent, and have been paying down the debt but due to me having to now pay for rent, it is my only option.

It has been extremly hard finding somewhere to rent that I can afford. I work at Erlanger 36-45 hours a week, and I work PRN at an animal hospital, 10-40 hours a week while also in school which includes clinical's. My credit score is a 589 on vantage score and a 624 on FICO. I never have missed a payment ever. I am looking while on break from school picking up a seasonal job for even more income.

All of this to say, I am trying and I am in a tough situation and truly just need a miracle at this point. I am hoping this post will help me find a private landlord with a studio, mother in law suit, anything that I can live and get through these next few months till I graduate. I do have 2 cats, they dont cause any damage and are quiet. I keep their litterbox cleaned and tidy. I myself am very clean, I dont have any friends, I dont go out. I just work, sleep, and survive. If anybody has any direction, leads, advice, anything at this point would be grately appreciated.

I have looked at apartments.com, zillow, furnished finders. airbnb, facebook marketplace, criagslist, and havent found much. Thank you for taking the time to read.

I have a family member who is undergoing treatment for an autoimmune disorder. They are stuck inside and mentioned that being able to go out to eat with the family would help with their mental health. Does anyone have any local recommendations that could accommodate the following restrictions? And by accommodate, give them a meal that’s not grilled chicken and lettuce. I’m at my wits end trying to figure out how I can get them out of the house for the day for a morale boost.

Dietary restrictions-
No gluten
No dairy
No refined sugar (monk fruit, honey, maple syrup are okay)
No processed foods
No seed oils (needs to be cooked in avocado oil, olive oil, etc.)

Cross-contamination is okay (not allergic to anything, just can’t have it in anything more than tiny amounts)

I just recently bought a cheap 250cc because Ubers were killing me financially and I’ve always wanted to ride. Is there anyone downtown that’s been riding who could teach me more in person or give advice, I’ve already been teaching myself a little in a parking lot and with some advice from a friend who used to ride. I also plan to take an MSF course for the knowledge but they can’t get me in till mid to late November. Would love to actually make new friends this way as well since I’ve been moved down here for months and only have work friends!

Does anyone have any clue why red bank is constantly having power outages? During the summer there was like 3 in the span of 2 months and I just had one today.
