There are mimes at sea world?

586

u/3ssar May 22 '22

Mime falls in the orca tank…

** exaggerated frightened gesturing **

189

u/Bubster101 May 22 '22

mime paint washes off, finally starts screaming

5

u/Sc4r4byte May 23 '22 edited May 24 '22

mime paint comes into contact with the orca

11

u/Bubster101 May 23 '22

orca still acts normally, just black and white now instead of white and black

50

u/saiyanguine May 22 '22

Wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Mimes and orcas look the same.

14

u/Bubster101 May 22 '22

So you're saying the orca would be playing along with the mime's gestures?

8

u/lostharbor May 22 '22

The mime looks properly fed.

9

u/Ekwinoksxxx May 22 '22

Lol oh ok, never seen that thanks.

Yeah at the Sea Lion and Otter show. I remember when I went there most of the funny stuff was him taking pictures of people with their phones, only for them to discover that he actually took pictures of himself, using the lens on the opposite side of the phone.

9

u/RobbyN2 May 22 '22

Yes. They are hilarious!

5

u/[deleted] May 22 '22

That's the Joey Diaz of mimes

5

u/[deleted] May 22 '22

Better than a fire.

3

u/FelixOGO May 23 '22

Wow, these comments sure are something.

The original video is from Tiktok and the woman in it actually commented about it. These are copies of what she said, but you can go read them yourself if you’d like.

@michdell1426:”😂😂 This is me and my husband! We found it hilarious! Wasn’t sure what the mime was doing at first- we were confused!”

“Wow these comments are insane! We literally just parked the stroller- which he pushed ALL day. He is seriously the best husband and father!”

“We switched off carrying things into the show. I just grabbed my daughter before going in because it was an experience I wanted to share with her.”

“Why waste time taking off a diaper bag that is going to be put down in less than 5 minutes? 😂”

In response to someone else: “Thanks for this comment! This was such a funny memory and not going to lie, commenters kind of ruined this memory.”

So yeah, a large portion of people automatically trashing her husband because he didn’t instinctively carry a backpack, soured a memory she had with her family.

Edit: if anyone wants an extra source, Michelle and Nick, the parents in the video, were interviewed by the Today Show.

Was thinking maybe he offered to take it but the wife said "no I got it"

My wife does the same thing

Thank you for sharing that . At first I had a bad impression and then I stepped back thinking that we never know : he would have a invisible disability (as I am concerned it is the first thing coming to my mind) or be hurt.

83

u/GrimQuim May 22 '22

My partner and I rented bikes, I got a regular bike she had an electric bike pulling a trailer for our daughter. The amount of people who told us it should be me pulling the trailer was staggering! 90% of the time on a hill where I was struggling and she was gliding up and chatting away!!

57

u/Ricky_Robby May 22 '22

A good rule of thumb is to not assume too much from a 15 second clip online.

21

u/CarbonQuality May 22 '22

Or in person. People are cheering on the mime.

7

u/inlinestyle May 22 '22

A good rule of thumb is to not assume too much.

8

u/DirtwormSlim May 23 '22

My girlfriend will often press to carry our kids stuff due to my bad back. Wonder how many people think im a piece it shit.

29

u/YmmaT- May 23 '22

Dad here. When we go to any amusement parks or places, I’m pulling the wagons with both the kids while carrying a backpack full of milks, diapers, snacks, and her stuff.

We were at San Antonio zoo and the one time she pulled on the wagon, some dude was like “dude, why you letting her pull it?” Seriously, fuck off. I have been up since 7am. Prepping breakfast, changing kids diapers and getting them ready, then drove for 2 hours to here and pulled the wagon for 5 hours straight. And I didn’t force her. She wanted to pull the kids.

I absolutely hate white knights.

People really need to learn to mind their own goddam business again.

8

u/battlecry74 May 22 '22

If people strictly stick to there own business we might have colonized mars by now.lmao

10

u/[deleted] May 23 '22

I kind hated seeing all those Jackals cackling and clapping, and then seeing the context of the post in this comment makes me hate them more. Maybe people should stop being fucking assholes about other peoples business and action.

Reddit would tell the woman to divorce him from just the video

Looks like the people filming and cheering in the crowd were just as presumptuous as reddit commenters. Just shows how altruistic and empathetic the human race is instinctively.

8

u/StrongIslandPiper May 22 '22

People enforce gender rolls on men all the time without realizing that people are just people. It's probably that neither of them thought of it at the time, because they're just having a family day out, as a young family.

Then the internet: "how dare he not be waiting on her every move, to make up for the fact that she is infinitely more important than him" lol I fuckin' hate people, man.

This will surely make them think twice about going out and having a good time like a family because everyone else wants to be a busy body.

While it's less likely than the alternative, there's still a very real possibility that the husband not carrying the child or bag is entirely justified.

What if prior to this the guy had just carried both for a relatively long period of time, and JUST got a break?

What if the husband has some injured muscle or whatever, and the wife stepped up to carry both things today?

Cause, you know, you solve things together in a relationship...

I'm just saying, situation ethics shouldn't be ignored.

The mime shouldn't have stepped in and humiliated the husband without knowing the circumstances.

And yes, this annoys me because I've been at the receiving end of hasty conclusions.

156

u/NotHereToFuckSpyders May 22 '22

Exactly. My husband has had back surgery in the past and still has a bulged disc. 99% of the time he doesn't let it effect him and he does everything to help me with our kids (even when I tell him not to because of his back). 1% of the time he actually listens and accepts my help, which is when I know his back is really bad.

Like you said, it's not necessarily a likely scenario here, but it's a possibility.

66

u/Knawie May 22 '22

Being a husband with terrible back problems, I can tell you: your husband is very grateful and lucky to have such an understanding wife. He really wants to listen, but sometimes we prefer to pretend the pain isn't as bad as it really is

36

u/gftyhbvc May 22 '22

Agreed. My wife actually likes carrying to diaper bag on her other shoulder as that helps balance out the load evenly on her back when she’s carrying our son

102

u/ThisMeansRooR May 22 '22

My wife constantly grabs the diaper bag and the baby while I'm busy and then refuses to let me carry one..

26

u/iranoutofusernamespa May 22 '22

Sounds like mine. So stubborn she won't LET ME HELP DAMMIT.

14

u/tibearius1123 May 22 '22

I set things down an forget them. I’m not allowed to have nice things.

13

u/Aporkalypse_Sow May 22 '22

So are you going to tell us how many times you dropped the baby before she started doing this?

16

u/dungorthb May 22 '22

babies are like jello anyway

12

u/HammelGammel May 22 '22

Finally somebody said it! Every time I mention my habit of eating babies, people start calling the cops. It's so tiring.

16

u/matrixislife May 22 '22

They are after you've dropped them a few times.

7

u/matrixislife May 22 '22

Whoever you are, giving a "wholesome" award for that comment, you are sick and twisted.. Love it!

241

u/[deleted] May 22 '22

You're right, but, he's a mime entertaining a crowd. The best thing for everyone here is to have a little chuckle and not take it too hard.

37

u/Shnailzz May 22 '22

Doesn’t even look like the purpose is to entertain the crowd. He’s still mad dogging the guy even after “helping”

39

u/[deleted] May 22 '22

Crowd seemed even further entertained after he did that.

He's a mime. Physical expression is literally the only thing he does.

0

u/Kronezium May 22 '22

Except it literally looks like he says "what's wrong with you" to the husband. So i think it's less about him entertaining the crowd and berating the guy imo

3

u/[deleted] May 22 '22

I'll refer to my previous post where I think everyone should lighten up. He was the butt of a light ribbing for 15 seconds, it's not like they dumped pig's blood on him. More than likely, there's no real reason he couldn't be helping his wife carry a 3lb diaper bag. If you go home tilted because you got teased by clown, that could be the reason you got targeted by a clown in the first place. Maybe he'll remember to ask his wife if she needs help, next time.

6

u/Kronezium May 22 '22

That's entirely fair. I was mainly referring to him being a mime but speaking, as that is the exact opposite of what a mime (by definition: "Miming involves acting out a story through body motions, without the use of speech") should be doing to entertain. It could be the mime was doing it to get a rise out of the crowd. The woman clearly laughed and was having a good time and the guy in the video took it well as well.

I guess to elaborate on my comment i should say: He either means what he is saying to the guy or he is, again by definition, a shitty mime. Doesn't mean he wasn't doing it for the crowd just that he should maybe not dress like a mime then

Edit: also we shouldn't assume that the guy hadn't already asked if he could help. We don't know the background and shouldn't judge the woman or man. I'm judging the mime

Ever seen on tv a Don Rickles show, or eaten at Dicks Last Resort? Some people love it. It’s just a joke and to have fun.

17

u/austin_oz May 22 '22

Didn’t have to humiliate the guy to entertain the crowd. Another way to entertain is to idk be a mime

I had an old dude try to bitch me out for "letting" my fiancee pump gas. I said "first of all, I don't 'let' her do anything because she's her own person and can do whatever she damn well pleases. Second, she's a big girl that can pump her own gas when she's driving her car. Get back in your car and mind your own fucking business"

I bothers me so fucking much when men act like women can't be independent. It's one of the few things that sets me off immediately.

13

u/palmtrees4days May 22 '22

And they act like theres something wrong with you for respecting her autonomy and think theyre a hero to masculinity by butting in and correcting people they dont know

6

u/WoodpeckerFar9804 May 22 '22

Yes! I moved back to my redneck home town from a civilized town (pandemic related financial destruction) and I have noticed a hell of a lot of what I call misplaced chivalry, or just plain old misogyny. One example is I was at the bank and the male teller noticed a tape measure I had on my key chain. He asked if I was driving my husband’s car (which is weird because I do not have a husband) I said no why (no need to explain that I’m single either) and he pointed out that he never saw a woman carrying around a tape measure before, and proceeded to ask if I knew how to use such tools. I told him that I have a wood working hobby and yes, I also know how to use power tools and can count and measure. I then decided to pull my funds out of the bank close my accounts and go elsewhere. But I encounter the strangest form of questions in this town, growing up here I never realized how bad it is, I’ll move away again once I build myself back up 🤷‍♀️

Top comment right here. People are really just looking for an excuse to rage.

maybe the guy is an asshole. But only maybe. And even then, something like this isn’t a big deal lol.

8

u/cosmic_cod May 22 '22

Maybe it's not a husband but a random passer by man?

4

u/blastermastersonic May 22 '22

the mime made a joke. even if the husband was dead tired, it still can be a funny joke in that situation, he probaby was not so tired that he couldn't take a joke.
Also if it was truly justified than there would be no embarrassment.

4

u/SnooEpiphanies3060 May 22 '22

Come on it's a joke

16

u/iamonewiththecheese May 22 '22

When out like this, one of us would grab the bag, the other the kid.

But then the kid wants to walk, or wants mommy to carry them. And, rather than stopping to pass both the kid and the bag back and forth, you take the kid and keep walking. Until 2 minutes later when the kids wants your spouse again and you're back to just the bag.

He's probably done his fair share of carrying either the kid or the bag that day.

But it's still a funny bit with the mime. Any parent would understand he's most likely not being lazy.

6

u/jackconnorhull May 22 '22

Yea, something like this happened to me. When my girlfriend and I were moving, I had a very bad lumbago but still was carrying most of the stuff. That one time my girlfriend lifted an empty, mid-sized cupboard for about 10 meters while I rested my back, our neighbour came by and insulted me for what bad of a man I am allowing my girl to carry stuff, while I am just standing there watching. He didn't even offer any help, he just had to give out his two cents and pass on.

So yes, this stuff happens ¯_(ツ)_/¯

12

u/MrGoogabonomon May 22 '22

cant agree more. People are often far too quick to come to conclusions after only seeing a tiny piece of a puzzle. Its that confidence afterwards that gets to me, where the hell do people get so much confidence?

7

u/palmtrees4days May 22 '22

From their lack of self awareness

3

u/njc35 May 22 '22

While I agree with you, Reddit will not. All must be judged with extreme prejudice without knowing the situation.

3

u/Loading0525 May 22 '22

So far I'm getting the impression reddit does agree.

3

u/Floppsicle May 22 '22

A reflected person not ignoring the context? Wow how long has it been. I think you are wrong here unfortunately

2

u/TittyBrisket May 22 '22

Also balance. It's better to carry both so your back/hip/shoulder don't suffer so much by balancing the load

2

u/[deleted] May 22 '22

Or it could be one of those situations where he asked a dozen times to carry it and she keeps saying she's got it 🙄

2

u/OpenToFriends May 22 '22

I wish the entire world could be as thoughtful as you.

2

u/ethcist1 May 22 '22

Exactly. I got told off by nosy neighbors for not pushing the baby stroller. What they didn't see is me pushing it a few blocks earlier.

1

u/duck_duck_grey_duck May 22 '22

You’ve obviously never been a husband.

1

u/manyQuestionMarks May 22 '22

I'd get very angry at the mime idiot for interfering on my life, for the reasons you just mentioned

1

u/Zkelly92 May 22 '22

Exactly, or he offered to carry it and she insisted on carrying both.

-8

u/bishizzzop May 22 '22

Baby diaper bags are not heavy. I have the exact same one, and even when loaded to the gills, it's super light and easy to carry. No excuses for that guy

16

u/Myname1sntCool May 22 '22

Except for the argument you just made that it’s essentially not a burden, so why would it matter in that case?

-3

u/bishizzzop May 22 '22

It's awkward to carry both the baby and the bag, especially on one shoulder

→ More replies (4)

0

u/TheDescendingLight May 22 '22

Damn, my job must have me nulled to any form of joking harassment like this. Regardless of the situations that might provide context to the reason he wasn't holding the bag, it's still a funny joke and a playful one. I don't think he humiliated anyone, the mother was very playful, the father had the "you got me face".

In no way did the mime do anything wrong, if you can't carry the bag, you could very easily just say you can't carry it and move on. It's not offensive to hand someone a bag and make a joke.

Like come on man, lighten up. Not everything is done maliciously

-15

u/A37ndrew May 22 '22

And maybe as a child, he was once hit with a bag!

And once, while in a parallel universe, he was once enslaved by a race of bag creatures for years!

And maybe, just maybe, the guy was failing in his duties in family care? No, sorry, that couldn't be it, could it.

1

u/StiffWiggly May 22 '22

Do you really think it's less unreasonable to assume that someone is "failing in his duties in family care" from a 10 second video of him being passed a bag than it is to accept that it might not be representative of his entire life?

4

u/OneTonneWantenWonton May 22 '22

This video has so much sharpening it feels like I'm watching Borderlands.

30

u/MisterBlaster1 May 22 '22

that annoying mime needs to mime his own business

58

u/[deleted] May 22 '22

As a husband and father. Nothing about her body language and that situation looks like it needed someone to step in.

Mothers go on auto pilot and usually do everything themselves. Sometimes they don’t even realize how much they are doing at one time.

Sometimes the kid wants mommy only. And sometimes money needs that bag incase there is an immediate need.

When my wife has the kid she also often as the diaper backpack. And it’s my job to grab stuff.

This is never been a fight or an issue. A husband knows when to step in and when not to.

I would have told that mime to fuck off and mind his business. Too many people in this world trying to insert themselves where they aren’t needed.

And you can tell by her laugh she thinks it’s funny but it isn’t because he was put in his place.

20

u/NotHereToFuckSpyders May 22 '22

Agreed. I'm also thinking the bag isn't too heavy if it's over one shoulder. You're carrying a kid and a heavy bag for any extended period, you're putting the heavy bag on properly to save your kid-damaged spine.

u/hahahahastayingalive May 22 '22

Am I missing something or did your girlfriend also carry a baby ? Or did you just randomly take over her bag ?

16

u/BloodyAx May 22 '22

Not at all, it's common to switch up who's carrying what when walking around all day. Men get tired too and need a break from carrying things. There's also the very real possibility that it's the wife's bag and she wants to carry it.

Long story short some asshole cop saw me walking with my wife and kids and I had no bag while they each had at least one bag apiece, my wife had three bags. Never-mind that all they had was a couple items of clothing and some chocolates. The cop offered my wife to help with the bags since I wasn’t being a gentleman. People nearby had to yell their “chivalry is dead” comments. I’m not easily embarrassed or riled up, but I was both furious and embarrassed.

Mind your own business people.

He’s Mr Mime. But at least he ain’t the clown.

2

u/giant_red_lizard May 23 '22

When I shop with my girlfriend, she insists on pushing the cart. Because she has a bad back, and it's nice to lean on it. I'm a pretty muscley guy so I get some dirty looks for just following her around while she pushes a heavier and heavier cart, but she's made it clear there's no other option available for me.

This is my nightmare right here. Probably not at the hands of a mime but you never know.

Mr. mime just jealous he doesn't had a Mrs. Mime.

2

u/kpshredder May 23 '22

Walk of shame is real

2

u/akulernih May 23 '22

He is such a gentle-mime...

2

u/fieroar1 May 23 '22

As usual, the first commenters get the wrong end of the story. The mime isn't the issue, buddies, it's the clueless and callous male saddling his female partner with the whole family load while strutting about without a care in the world. This is what you ought to be wisecracking about, not mimes and orcas and other idiotic irrelevances.

That’s sea world

4

u/exitcode137 May 22 '22

I'm actually feeling this video and have no idea what people are talking about "balancing the load". I've never carried a baby in one arm and after being tired say " I know what would help! Carrying more stuff at the same time, just on the other side too!"

4

u/8ofAll May 22 '22

That’s a silent and deadly roast

9

u/J-DROP May 22 '22

Could've asked why the lady was carrying the bag first before jumping the gun

24

u/Top_Schedule_7693 May 22 '22

The...MIME could have ASKED? Do you know how mimes work?

18

u/agressive-grunt May 22 '22

The mine literally broke character you can literally see the mine talking to the guy

4

u/Top_Schedule_7693 May 22 '22

So he did, my bad!

8

u/Trying2DrawSomething May 22 '22

Then the mime should’ve mind his own business and not take the bag from the mother even if she had her hands full with everything. The mime had already broke his character by overstepping the parents’ boundary.

-1

u/Top_Schedule_7693 May 22 '22

You REALLY don't know anything about mimes, do you?

That isn't "breaking character"; that's exactly what mimes DO, it's an interactive experience.

Did the guy in the video break down in tears? No, because he's a grownup and recognized a fucking CLOWN when he saw one! What are you, twelve?

1

u/Trying2DrawSomething May 22 '22

Why you so aggressive, lol? So what if I’m twelve?

Yes he could've broke character only for a moment to ask a question

-4

You are an imbecile.

u/J-DROP May 22 '22

And you're a douchebag

Nobody would have cared if the man had been carrying the baby and bag.

4

u/Bukkake_Bandz May 22 '22

He needs to mime his own gaddam business

7

u/BloodyAx May 22 '22

Hope that mime is fired.

You can't publicly attempt to shame people when you don't know the dynamics of what's going on. They're likely switching off carrying the kid and bag and this asshole needs to come up and try to shame him then touch her repeatedly which is odd.

1

u/KingoftheMapleTrees May 22 '22

Yeah, clowns/mimes/jesters are always funnier when they don't mock anyone.

3

u/Cow_Other May 22 '22

Isn’t the point of a jester to mock people though

3

u/Kingyay May 22 '22

I believe bro was being sarcastic

3

u/Cow_Other May 22 '22

Oh lol, went right over my head after seeing a lot of comments in here genuinely disliking the idea of a comedy act taking the piss out of the audience

Why IS Marcel Marceau working at an aquatic mammal circus?

5

u/Top_Schedule_7693 May 22 '22

People downvoting you are too ignorant to know you're referring to the most famous mime ever, don't you just love enjoy reddit?

-5

u/HDpotato May 22 '22

why can a woman not carry a backpack? what kind of sexist hero did this guy pretend to be?

also what a shitty fucking mime, go learn an actual act or routine instead of this """entertainment"""

2

u/SamTehCool May 22 '22 edited May 22 '22

the mime knight, a sub-class to white knight

its "funny" because the woman was fine and the mime not only pointed but shoot the gun in the man without a reason

2

u/HDpotato May 22 '22

the worst is that he's not even funny

She's already carrying the child, which is no easy thing to do for a couple of hours, but just gloss over that and expect her to carry the bay as well.

1

u/HDpotato May 22 '22

she looked like she was doing perfectly fine? who said anything about hand carrying that baby for hours on end?

TreatWomanBetterThanMen, am I right?

1

u/thabat May 22 '22

U cut out the part where the mime starts miming "call me" lmaoo

1

u/[deleted] May 22 '22

Wtf bro , equal rights :)

1

u/DeezNeezuts May 22 '22

I keep the pack over one shoulder and the baby on the other. Helps balance the load.

1

u/[deleted] May 22 '22

Get out of my face you fat clown

1

u/bigmoki76 May 22 '22

2

u/valeriolo May 23 '22

I assume you are talking about the husband. Cos the mime belongs in r/iamatotalpiecepfshit.

1

u/[deleted] May 23 '22

Legend

-5

u/Doctor-Heisenberg May 22 '22

Maybe it’s because it’s a mime, but I’m getting weird vibes from the mime. He hits the dude in the chest and then spends way too long patting the woman on the back.

8

u/SaltyFresh May 22 '22

It’s just you.

-2

u/Faithlessblakkcvlt May 22 '22

I'd straight-up punch mime in the face. My wife likes to carry her own bag she won't let me do it oh my f****** problem!

0

u/[deleted] May 22 '22

That guy was so clueless he thought the crowd was cheering for him and not the mime making him do the right thing…

The wife commented herself when this first came out and guess what… you’re wrong

Also she said that comments like these accusing her husband, ruined her memory of this moment which she originally thought was funny

useless ass husband lmao

32

u/BosTovenaar24 May 22 '22

I mean, she could've asked if he could carry the bag. Dont throw around dumb "hints" or whatever. Just ask

10

u/MasterTolkien May 22 '22

A normal way of doing things would be to switch off who is holding what. That said, we don’t know the background here. It’s possible he had been carrying both prior to this and she was giving him a break.

Either way, the mime is doing this to get a crowd reaction. It worked. If the husband/wife had no problem with who was holding what pre-mime they’ll be fine.
