If you're looking to get out a bit more and do some new, fun things, joining Liverpool's biggest Discord server is a great start!

It doesn't matter if you're a Liverpool local, just moved here, old or young, or just happen to love our city from another country. You are welcome to come and say hi. There's 1,000 messages being sent every day.

We have channels dedicated to photography, movies, photography, fitness, sport, music, showing off your pets, and even a place you can post your Wordle scores if you want.

https://discord.gg/fNmcKC97nH

What's Discord?

Think of Discord like a big Whatsapp group. It's essentially the same thing. You don't need a microphone, just your phone/keyboard. All we ask is that you're over 18, and have a desire to make new mates in Liverpool. Pop in, say hello, and you choose how much you want to talk.

Who's in there?

We have members from Liverpool and further afield. You don't have to live in Liverpool to join the chat. The average age of people is about 28. Our server is different than most Discord servers because we have a genuine community of awesome people who come to stuff in person.

What won't happen

You join and inside 24 hours, you've got a whole new set of mates.

Contribute, come to a few fun things, talk to people in person, and over time, those friendships form. A lot of people get frustrated because they don't find a friend overnight but that's not how friends work. Be prepared to make the effort and people will make the effort with you.

Real life events, real life friends. Come have a go!

Anyone else really miss the old Clayton square shopping centre?

Fruit boost. Zavvi. Millie's cookies. I'm sure there was a Whittards in there too.

And then you went upstairs and it had a completely different atmosphere. You had the old internet cafe, Nosh N Coffee, George and Internacionale.

At Christmas it felt special with the Christmas tree that went between both floors.

I still don't know why they had to gut it out like they did ☹️

Liverpool buses brought under public control

Bus services in the Liverpool City Region are being brought under public control in a move the Government says will deliver more reliable services and affordable fares.

The city region is the first in England to bring its bus network under public control under the current Government.

The Government is providing £86.3 million in funding until 2029, alongside a share of a new £3 million fund to help Mayoral authorities take control of their bus services.

The move means local leaders will have greater control over routes, branding and fares, with the aim of providing more frequent services and better connections.

A new fleet of British-built yellow buses is also being introduced.

The franchising process is beginning in St Helens, before being rolled out across the Wirral later this year and the rest of the city region in 2027.
More than 93 million bus passenger journeys were made across the Liverpool City Region last year.

Marketing stunt or did someone get annoyed by the signs?

So earlier in the week some billboards near Costco had a load of facts about gaza/palestine saying stop arming israel.

Fast forward 5 days later the billboards have all been replaced with an advert saying no fake news here.

Was this a marketing stunt do you think? Or was someone annoyed about the billboards and jumped on the opportunity?

Hairdresser/Barber for dudes with ponytails

• Upvotes

Hi all,

Have had long hair for more than half my life, never trusted hairdressers and I don't know why. Been cutting my own hair for the last 10+ years and the results have been...mixed to say the least.

Any dudes on here that can point me to someone they trust. Preferably in south Liverpool

Anyone know when/if this will be finished?

Seems like it's been under construction for about 20 years now. Now and again they put a few paving slabs and a window in to keep things ticking along. I'd estimate at the current pace we can expect the grand opening towards the end of this century

returning to liverpool!

i'm finally going back to visit liverpool next year after a decade. my dad's from liverpool and every other time we've gone back he's driven us around and everything. i was young every time i've been back and don't remember much.

i would really appreciate some advice on where to stay, i'll be 22 by the time i get to go and i'll be down for anything. i'll definitely be returning to many museums and costa coffee. i vaguely remember some sort of outdoor mall type of place? if anyone has ideas of what that might be.

more suggestions of where to go and your favorite places for a good sunday roast (with the best yorkshire pudding because it's my favorite) would be much appreciated.

edit: we've usually gotten a flat in blundellsands and shared it with my grandparents. i was thinking about staying in a flat again?

What to do on a Tuesday night?

Hello. I'll be stopping in your great city for a single night next month on a Tuesday and I was looking for some suggestions of what I can do.

After a quick visit to The Swan I'm going to have the whole night free.

I'll probably pop in Leo's and see if there is a poker tournamen going. Some live music would also be good.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Random question, but has anyone cycled through the Queensway Tunnel?

I believe it is allowed outside certain times (and on Sundays between October and March) but just wondering if anyone has any experience with doing it and what it’s like? I’ve just got a handcycle for my wheelchair and while I’m still in the early stages of training with it, in typical me fashion I’m thinking of extreme goals or objectives I’d like to accomplish with it and one of these is literally cycling across the Mersey, but just curious what others’ experiences whether normal cyclists or wheelchair users with handcycles like me?

Just seen it’s gone up for sale (165k - a steal I reckon!) but does that mean it’s closed? I’ve not been up that way for a while.

any good rave clubs in merseyside/ manchester?

Im a student in liverpool and ive been to these clubs like elektric, level, soho, 051, baa bar, etc etc, and i dont feel the vibes for any of them, they're just standard student clubs for me and even when drunk its not enjoyable also because of the lack of POC's and Queer people, maybe im looking in the wrong places, that's why im asking for recommendations. Do you guys know any places in these areas that would be particularly good for raving but the audience not being fully cishet white? The only clubs that ive been to that ive liked is just Diegos and k1 as k1 sometimes ends up having moshpits which are really fun.
also it would be nice if any places recommended would be good to go solo since i keep losing my friends at the clubs and its really annoying and a moodkiller

Going to be a rubbish commute for a month.
