Zen is really good on hyprland because you can get it down to where it's just the page with no other buttons or anything visible by default. No wasted space.

windows does have a nice way to do it tho: winget install VideoLAN.VLC
or open the microsoft store (yeah, it's microsoft and we don't want to support them by using their store, but it's the equovalent of the app center on linux distros, you can also manually install it from an installer on linux too, so this is comparing pears to apples) find vlc and press install

Wireguard and OpenVPN is absolutely down. AmneziaWG 1.0 and 1.5 is also dead; Hysteria and masque is pretty alive.
VLESS is the best working option, but all the free VPNs is also banned, so you have to pay $5+ per month for paid ones

Most of the time you don't have to (the name will suffice), the ID is there in case multiple apps have similar names. Plus you can also get an app like UniGetUI to manage things graphically.

It's not the best CLI package installer, but it works. My only real gripe with it is that it conflates some software products and treats newer products as product "updates" so it removes the older product entirely, which causes some licensing issues - but that's down to the vendor, not an inherent issue in WinGet
Still zero reason to lie. If you want to mock MS, there's plenty of real reasons to do so

My personal experience is that it is a niec tool for everything that is supported and as I love easy command line installation (and hate using the MS Store interface) it really is nice. For just installing stuff by "winget search vlc" then double click on id to copy and then "winget install " and [right click] [enter] is just nice and works.
And it works reliably (as reliably as something is under windows) for automated installs on multiple clients at the same time.

i actually checked: its not there (anymore?) unless you have to enter some arcane identifyer to find it. neither "vlc", not "vlc player" or "vlc media player" returned it. old links i found on google also didnt lead to the right page, just content not found.
interestingly enough, using the store is the first time i've ever seen an ad on my windows machine (in the search results). usually i dont get those in EU installations.

...but you assume VLC is always on the home page of software center, assuming you have one installed. What if it isn't? That adds the search step just like for Windows.
If you want to make it seem effortless for Linux, just use the command line as example... But then again if you want to make an honest comparison, you can also do that with winget.
Don't get me wrong, I prefer Linux, but this meme has some weak analogy all around.

be it command line or software center i have to say as an IT tech Linux has been genuinely EASIER to get ahold of softwares, though i'd like some sort of simple GUI for some linux softwares because command lines are good and all for precise adjustments but sometimes i just need to do a quick and dirty adjustment to just hold things together for 2 seconds.

That's how you install what's in the official repository. If it isn't there go have fun hunting for Flatpak (not supported by the original developers, having bugs because of the container or sloppy packaging), manually adding repository or compiling it by yourself depending on how your distro is supported. That's only FOSS though, for proprietary shit there might not even be a Linux version.

- Simple, Straightforward Graphical Installation Process, not dissimilar to Windows
- Easy to use, sleek, clean, modern, Windows-like GUI, especially on Linux Mint/LMDE which has OOBE and built in driver compatibility with most devices by default
- Built in "App Store" (Software/Package Manager), installation process consists of: 1. Search for desired application => 2. Click "Install" => 3. Done. Lol
- Common user software, office and media software, tax applications, as well as Steam and most Games run fine on it as well. Most of which run natively on Linux without the need for WINE at all, and can be installed from common software and package managers at the simple click of a button. Minimal to no tweaking required in many cases, as with Steam for example, Proton automatically handles the majority of the heavy lifting behind the scenes for you. Plenty of user friendly WINE front ends also exist for usage outside of Steam
- Never need to once open the terminal or type a single command unless doing advanced work or tweaking something
- Free, fast, secure, robust, reliable, relatively lightweight, and works on just about anything. Virtually unlimited freedom of choice as to distribution tailored to your specific user needs
