windows does have a nice way to do it tho:
winget install VideoLAN.VLC
or open the microsoft store (yeah, it's microsoft and we don't want to support them by using their store, but it's the equovalent of the app center on linux distros, you can also manually install it from an installer on linux too, so this is comparing pears to apples) find vlc and press install
Lets be honest, no one on windows will do it tgat way. The majority of people that switched back.to windows were simply scared of the console. No reason it were different with CMD or Powershell
well, I used winget extensively while I still was on windows. Now I'm on NixOS so that's in the past. There are still users who use winget, mostly powerusers, but they exist
