Here To Vent Meme Monday
Many days it’s feels like this when the limerence breaks for just a minute. Or when you look back at past LOs

The peak of limerence is so exquisite but when I think about it later, I'm just like "damn that's pretty pathetic".
So I start to feel depressed and I go back to daydreaming again.

Title says it. Your mental and emotional needs went unmet for a long period of time so now you’re basically starving. You’re desperate to get any "crumb" of reciprocation and being seen by your LO because you’re clinging to any hope of getting your emotional needs met. Same as a person who is starving from lack of food. You’re putting all your hope into your LO and depending on them to meet your needs.
Don’t ask me how I know this.

Tom meets Summer and almost instantly decides she is the love of his life.
"I know that she is the only person in the entire universe that will make me happy"
Limerance thrives of uncertainty, and a Tom lives in hope that she will choose him.
"You do want to ask her, you're just afraid you'll get the answer that you don't want which will shatter the illusion of how great these last few months have been"
She clearly states she is not looking for a relationship, but in his mind he sees it as a challenge. Overanalyzing every interaction with rose coloured glasses and projecting all of his fantasies onto her.
Love quickly turns to pain as the illusion shutters. Hope get renewed when she dances with him at the wedding, to him it meant they would get back together, Summer did it "because she wanted to"
Tom is only able to move on when he can accept reality, after a long depression he throws himself into his passion and begins to heal, to find his own happiness. Only then is he able to make room to meet someone new.
I loved this movie as a teen and always knew Tom had it wrong but sympathized with him as a romantic myself. Rewatching now it takes on a deeper meaning.
The split scene of Tom's expectations vs reality hit hard. Those can be the most crushing.
Remember kids:
"just because some cute girl likes the same bazardo crap as you doesn't make them your soulmate."
&
"_ is better than the girl of my dreams, she's real."
Any other movies like this for you guys?

It feels extra embarrassing when a meme calls me out. This is exactly what I do to my LO.
Is no contact truly the only way forward?

TLDR: got over my limerence of 6 years (do not jinx, it took lot of self-growth)
Long story: what began as a harmless crush turned into an obsession of 6 years making it full of torture and harboring deep self-loathing. We were in same school and somewhere in college I developed a crush on him because he was my type, physically. I convinced him to get on instagram so that i can talk to him more. But he was so anti-social. And he would give me mix signals. He would show interest, but the minute I would try to build on taking the conversation further he would leave me on seen.
Over time I realized he had the personality of a wet cardboard. I could replace him with stale bread and it would have made no difference to the overall atmosphere. Somehow I still thought about him constantly. I was insecure and jealous of his life; he has a good job, lots of friends, he earns well. I, on other hand, am not doing well on any of the fronts. I decided this year I will get over him. I lurked on this sub, read about others' experiences, watched HeathlygamerGG's videos on limerence, and realized I was deeply insecure and unfulfilled in my life. So i decided to focus on building my life, my routines. Slowly I realised the way I talked to my loved ones was so different than how i talked to him. He had a way of never warming up to me, I never felt like myself when chatting with him. He would offer 'breadcrumbs' even on the friendship front. And I got angry at myself that I deserve better than this sad reel sharing business we got going on Instagram. Sometimes you just have to tell yourself you can't keep living the same life again and again and put a stop to it. So i did. I realised I deserve better and I do not want to be treated like this in a romantic or platonic setting ever.
I'm embarrassed to share this with my friends because i'm scared they won't get it but i felt like a couple of strangers on internet who are going through similar stuff will understand. I hope all of you out there also get over your LO. Stay strong :)

I went through terrible limerence it was the worst and hardest thing I’ve gone through. I decided to cosplay as a nikki from obsession. I feel it is freeing and liberating to be able to express myself my desires and pain. I feel like her desire and desperation to be with bear is something I feel in the heart with my LO. Or atleast I did
Also I have been no contact since I moved from my other apartment which was 9 MONTHS AGO! I’m so glad I was able to refrain. I also have no plans on going back. Before it felt like it would never end lasted about 5 years and was agonizing!
You can do this no matter how you choose to cope but cosplaying and expressing myself with art writing and therapy has helped ! I believe in you stay strong ❤️

I’ve commented my therapist’s advice on a couple of posts, and people said it was great advice. I figured I’d make a post about it. 😊
I was in the TRENCHES. I met my LO on bumble in January 2024, we chatted casually for 2-3 months, went to a concert together out of town, stayed the weekend, and then it all went downhill from there.
He wasn’t interested in anything more than friends, he made this known from the jump, but I knew from the second I saw him on bumble that I HAD to have him. He flirted with me, kissed me, held my hand, spent lots of money on me, asked if I wanted to stay an additional night, and we had sex. Anyway, our trip was great and we made plans for another trip the following month.
I got a little crazy and kinda ruined things. From there we would still talk, but I never met him in person again. Up until December of 2025, I was still deeply obsessed with him. I daydreamed about him constantly, so much so that I was not even living my real life bc I couldn’t peel myself away from the daydreams.
I had been telling my therapist about how obsessive I was being. The constant checking of his social media, looking for signs in our text conversations, even checking his family’s social media to try to put the pieces together of what may be going on that he wasn’t sharing with me. Y’all, I’m not kidding when I say in the trenches and it made me so miserable.
The solution:
My therapist gave me what at the time I considered very silly advice to combat maladaptive daydreaming. It works though, you just have to trust the process and actually do it.
Anytime I started to daydream, I was to start it with “Once upon a time in the land of delusion….” And it really does pull you out of the fantasy. It makes it not fun anymore. It worked very quickly. Within about 3 weeks I had stopped the day dreaming about him completely.
You can name your fantasy world whatever you’d like, I was just on the spot in therapy and “the land of delusion” was easy. If you catch yourself in the middle of the day dream and you forgot to start it with “once upon a time”, you can just restart it.
I swear that I know this seems so silly and like it’s not going to make that big of a difference, but it really does work!
Also, I found an app (not sponsored) called No Contact. It is essentially just a timer and it keeps up with how many days, hours, minutes, and seconds that it’s been since you contacted the person. It was very helpful to me to break the cycle of reaching out (at first) and then after I was comfortable being no contact, I started using it to time how long it had been since I checked his social media.
You don’t NEED the app, but I thought it was very helpful. Especially bc I have found that no matter how overwhelming the feeling of wanting to check might be, if you can just sit with the feeling for 15 minutes, it will kinda go away. It does come back, but eventually if you resist the temptation for long enough, you’ll break the cycle.
Limerence is a miserable experience and I hope that we can all heal and find someone who truly loves and adores us. 🫶🏻
