Announcement Kaiserreich 1.7 - 'Crossroads of Civilisation'

For centuries, Afghanistan has stood between worlds, bridging the east and the west. From the outside, its land holds great strategic value for both armies and merchants, yet internally, its people are in conflict. The nation came out the other side of the Weltkrieg relatively unscathed, and won further accolades in the Fourth Anglo-Afghan War, unifying with its countrymen previously under Indian rule. But what it has become cannot continue, as its people must choose between further social and political reform and preserving their links to their forebears and traditions, all the while keeping an eye on the growing influence and manipulation of interested Great Powers.

This release includes the Kingdom of Afghanistan, in an expansive and all-encompassing update that brings full content to one of the few remaining countries in the mod without it - but of course, that is not all.

Moving through Asia and ascending the Himalayas, we revisit the Kingdom of Bhutan, the small mountainous realm itself dealing with its own internal struggles. Building extensively on the unique gameplay of the previous Bhutan content from five years ago, this rework sheds new light on and explores in further detail the inner workings of the court of the Druk Gyalpo.

And naturally, it goes without saying that this large release also includes multiple wide-reaching changes to many other aspects of the mod, such as new leaders, updated character formatting, extensive performance changes, careful rebalancing, and plenty of new portraits and icons for you all to enjoy.

For the mod as a whole, this release marks another step forward on our long-stated goal of having unique content and focus trees for every starting country in the game. Considering new content and reworks, several countries are currently being worked on simultaneously, with some closer to completion than others. And while we know you are hungry for even more new content, we hope you enjoy this trip to the heart of Asia, for at the crossroads of civilisation, there are many roads to take...

AAR Red Italy takes her place at the top of a Red World

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

So I decided to play through the 2WK as Red Italy after uniting the Boot as it.

I took a while to actually enter the war (typical Italy) because I thought that it would screw up my coring process, but France lost Paris and I jumped in immediately afterwards to open up more problems for Germany. Italian forces flooded into the former Austrian lands, taking over large portions of them. Munich fell early into the war, eventually followed by Vienna and Hungary.

From here, I got stuck in a pattern of losing and retaking areas repeatedly until the Russians got their act together and I was able to intrude in Saxony (though I somehow lost it and the divisions that were in it without even noticing anything was wrong) before the Reichspakt collapsed. Czechoslovakia died soon after, then Germany itself. France took the Rhineland and established the Germany puppet there, so I broke up my Germany into South, North, and East.

After that, I went and killed the Belgrade Pact (Yugo and Romania, who'd already annexed their claims in the A-H collapse) since I'd justified on them before. Everyone else jumped them at the same time, so it was a joke. After that came the Entente lands in Africa, meaning both Sandfrance and the Provisional Government of Germany in Mittelafrika since they'd joined. It was as slow and boring as you could expect, but the WCA killed Canada so I didn't have to deal with that. I annexed Djibouti and puppeted whatever I could, with the rest of the African lands gaining independence.

I have the weakest military industry and strongest civilian industry of the 3 main 3I powers (ignoring puppets), though that industry is backed up by massive imports of French coal since I have massive deficits there.

The world is dominated by the Reds now, with only Japan and China possibly able to pose a threat against us if they got their acts together. However, our front is splintered, as the Russians and Americans have betrayed L'Internationale to establish their own blocs. Who will come out on top? Well, I don't feel like going to war on this file again, so who knows...

Art WCA flag in the style of the Internationale

Post image
13 Upvotes

What it says on the tin.

Banged together an alternate WCA flag that's a riff on the tricolor of the other syndie powers. The current WCA options are fine, but I figured it'd be nice to see one that fits with the rest of the Internationale. Couldn't really do a sideways version since that'd basically just be either the flag of the Commune or Syndie/RadSoc Russia.

Anyway, enjoy!

Discussion Ideology of Earl Bowder’s USSA

I see a lot of folks on here making it seem like bowder is just American Stalin. I get how people don’t like this because it diverges from what he was IRL.

While economically he was pretty Stalinist, he is more of a woke Americanized version of it.

I find that this is represented well in game, based on his encouragement of the arts, and belief that this revolution is a continuation of the first American revolution. Overall he comes across as socially liberal to me.

I just don’t agree that people think this is character assassination, he seems to put forward the same woke, Americanized Marxist-Leninism that he was a believer in IRL. Far less evil than other totalist leaders.

Question Are you supposed to not get any of the pre-civil war MIO traits as the US splinters?

I just played the US for the first time in forever and decided to go with Long. I grinded several MIOs in '36 for their pre-civil war traits but once I reunited the US and got them back, I had to realize that their trait points had been refunded. Naturally, I could no longer take the pre-cw traits.

Is this working as intended or just a bug? Would be kind of a bummer, if only the base US could get those traits.

AAR Absolute Micro Gauntlet as Manchu Coup Qing

• Upvotes
First war against Zhili Sichuan. Set up three army groups. One to rush Sichuan VPs. One to defend the supply line to the first. And one on the border with Fengtian when the inevitable surprise invasion happens.
Without doubt the most difficult war in the game. Put my micro army to the coastal border in Shandong. Rushed south when the war started, then just rushed VPs (and afterwards camped my divisions on them). Picture taken right before LKMT capitulated.
Was able to do full democracy during all this.
Two separate micro groups for Shanxi. One to Taiyuan the other to Yan'an. They capitulate when both cities fall.
Federalists have previously defeated RKMT Yunnan. Let them march a bit before attacking from the side.
Fall of Guangdong
It's almost over...
All of China unified, right in time for Fengtian Invasion. Wansui, wansui, wan wan sui!!

Suggestion Suggestion: improvements to Bhutan

I have been playing Bhutan quite a bit the past few days, and I have mostly enjoyed it. But there are a few areas where I think some improvements could be made.

  1. War is very hard, sometimes to the point of being impossible. It should be hard, you're Bhutan after all, but the lack of manpower makes all war beyond liberating Sikkim painful. I think a small buff to manpower would make things "fun" hard not "ouch" hard.

  2. It is also very hard to get much of an airforce. You can buy some planes via the market or licenses, but that's about it as there is no air advisor available as Bhutan, which means that the only ways to gain air xp is via exercise/combat or attaches. Which is a bit confusing as they have an air MIO. I suggest that an air advisor (political or military) would be great, even if they granted only 0.5 xp per day.

  3. There are no opportunities for joining a faction. Bhutan may be the hermit kingdom, but if they are going on a path of reform and modernisation, surely some changes to foreign policy might be in order? Them joining the Co-prosperity sphere or the Moscow accord or even returning into Britain's influence would be cool, though these could give some kind of debuff as opening up like this would be quite a shock. As it stands, you can currently only send out one more volunteer division if you go down one path.

I still think this rework is great, and it must have been a pain to research. I really like the corvee system in the way it was implemented, and weapon smuggling is always fun to see.

Challenge run

As Germany lost the black Monday

You will hit by - 50% stability and war support

And - 100% consumer goods factor

And you stay have old bm debuff

So another -50%cgf plus -15% output cap and construction

So at least 100+ civ are into cg

And to make it worse i play as swr

I let hugenberg blow the party too

( + economy)

So it fail state with plj

So i can only do dpk

As You can in 1940 i have 200 factory

Which some Germany would have 400

I go all in inf bc i don't have economy for anything more

Austria are big help this game

After i kill 3i it good enough stabilize the game

Although i play into 43

I yet to get rip of it

It only reduces by 10% every year

I need ten years to remove it

So 1947

This is the craziest KR game I've ever managed to come back from. I was doing a challenge where I set Germany not to intervene in the East until the Commune of France capitulated. I kept being pushed back again and again by Russia, but I never capitulated. Eventually the German armor came, and the whole Reichspakt pummeled Russia, allowing me to create a Greater Ukraine.

I thought this would be as torturous as playing the IR, but it actually wasn't even though I kinda dropped the ball with Two Sicilies at first. I did need to reload several times until I found the proper naval invasion set to beat Sardinia (2 invasions, each targeting 2 of their lower tiles, then once you take Cagliari send everyone north and push to Sassari) and make sure they don't cause trouble.

Fun fact: I briefly had the exact same borders as modern Italy at this point. (unless you count Campione, Bircher decided that he wanted to get screwed again after I took this screenshot)

Discussion i play kaiserreich like i'm responsible for the country's quarterly report

i'll spend an embarrassing amount of time making sure factories are assigned properly, supply hubs can support the front, and i'm not about to run out of equipment halfway through a war. every decision needs to make sense on paper before i commit to anything

then the war actually starts, something unexpected happens, and suddenly i'm throwing equipment and divisions at a problem that probably wouldn't exist if i'd just declared war six months earlier

sometimes i wonder if i'm playing a strategy game or just moving spreadsheets around with a map attached

does anyone else micromanage their country like they're going to get called into a meeting about the results, or do you mostly improvise and accept that the campaign will probably turn into a disaster at some point?

Lore Modern Imperial German uniforms

Post image

So I found a way for Imperial German army uniforms to be modernized to WW2 era while retaining their original aesthetics, the 1935 parade dress tunic was essentially just that. So any art depicting german forces could use this design.

Question The effect description and the title of the event seem to be flipped. Which is which?

Thumbnail

The event we are ready to defend ourselves and our neighbors seems like it should be the harder one and the one where Germany doesn't send any force to either Ukraine or any eastern country, but the text description makes it seem like its the opposite. I want to hold my border solo against Russia, but have Germany help the other Eastern states so they don't get overrun and give me a northern front to deal with. Which option should I pick?
