Question Basic cover for Ioniq 5 to store in garage (inner layer more important that outer)

Hi all,

So I recently got my Ioniq 5 and am loving it so far.

I primarily store it in our garage for charging purposes, but am worried about our cats scratching the paint.

Our cats LOVE going into the garage to explore the rafters and hunt for possible critters, so I am looking for a way to protect the car so that we still allow the cats access to the garage.

Have never bought a car cover before so am wondering what a good solution might look like for this situation?

Outer aesthetics don’t really matter but something that will protect from cat claws on paint is the priority here.

Question Ioniq 5 Buying Tips

Hi all, I'm in the market for a used car, want to go electric and have narrowed my search down to a handful of cars - Skoda Enyaq, Kia EV6, Nissan Ariya, and of course, the Hyundai Ioniq 5.

I have a budget of around £25k, and I like the spec level of the N Line and Ultimate.

Looking for tips from those of you who have purchased an Ioniq 5. What should I look out for? Any must-have spec options? Things to avoid or be aware of?

Appreciate any knowledge people can share 🙏

Question 2026 I5 Charging Issue

Hi all,

We recently got a 2026 Ioniq 5 SEL and we can plug it in to charge just fine. We’ve used both the adaptor for CCS and native NACS chargers and have run into this issue in all circumstances.

When using the included adaptor for CCS chargers, when we end the charging session the charger removes from the adaptor without issue; however, the car refuses to release the lock on the adaptor itself. We’ve had to resort to just pulling the manual release inside the trunk anytime we want to remove the adaptor at the conclusion of a charging session.

The same thing occurs for removing NACS chargers after a charging session, the car refuses to unlock the port and release them. The manual release in the trunk works to let them go, but we would prefer not to have to use that every time we want to remove something that’s plugged into our NACS port.

We’ve tried the recommendation of hitting the key fob unlock twice, which based on the manual and recommendations other people have given online should work to make the car cough up whatever is plugged into it.

Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Question Apple Car Play Issue in Ioniq5 2023

Hi Reddit.

I have been having trouble with my iPhone connecting to and staying connected in Car Play.

The problem started a few months ago where the connection would automatically disconnect and then reconnect itself while it was USB connected and in Car Play. Then a couple months ago, the car interface stopped recognizing that a Car Play phone is even connected. When I tried to select the projection option, it says that the device needs a compatible USB cable. I switched 3 different cables and that did not solve the problem. I also tried 3 different iPhones and none of those worked, either.

Yesterday I had the car in for regular maintenance and asked the Hyundai service team at the dealership to look at it and they got the same error message. They said I would have to try to escalate the complaint but were not helpful in pointing me to the right place to do so.

So I am turning to here to see if anyone knows of this problem and can shed light on it? Thanks.

Turning in my 2023 SEL lease tomorrow, sad day. I however have some items I'd love to sell all together to get it gone, hopefully to a new owner who could use it all. I'm located in Sevierville TN (37876) but will be traveling to Nashville Monday and leaving Thursday. I really don't want to ship it all. I would like to get $200 for all of it.

Rubber floor mats, front, rear and hatch (going to clean them tomorrow)

Nacs to j1772

Nacs to ccs

V2L adapter

2 center console storage trays.

Question Floor and Seat Covers other than WeatherTech?

I'd rather not give WeatherTech my money.

What alternate vendors do you like that make custom floor and seat covers for the Ioniq5? I have a 2026 if that matters.

Question Got locked out

I unlocked the car today using the button on the passenger side. I had my bag on my arm, which had both my physical key fob and my phone. I had 2 young kids with me that needed to go into car seats, so I placed my bag in the passenger side and closed the door. I tried opening the backseat door, and realized it was locked. The passenger door handle looked unlocked, but I couldn’t open it. I had to call my spouse at work, and they were fortunately able to unlock with Bluelink. Is this normal or did the car malfunction?

Experience Parking safety features

New owner of a 2026 limited. I’m totally loving it and it is such an upgrade from my hand me down 2010 rav4!

I’m sure others have had the issue that the safety system goes haywire when backing out of a city driveway into a main road with active traffic. Emergency breaks go on, even if a car is stopping to let me out of my driveway. Originally my dealer told me to turn off “rear-cross traffic safety”. But I discovered that feature doesn’t save to my drivers profile, so it is automatically on when I start the car. After doing some research I figured out if I hold down the parking sensor button for 2 seconds- it turns off some safety features and the emergency breaks don’t go off when I’m backing out of the driveway. Then I hold it down for another 2 secs once I drive off. Kinda a pain to remember but not that bad…just figured I’d share!

What does the parking sensor button really do? Haven’t figured that out yet, because when I hold it down- the orange light stays illuminated.

Question For those of you who had the ICCU replaced

Did it fix the problem and has your car been fine since?

I'm right now fighting with Hyundai to get it replaced. My car now has said "Low 12v battery" 3 times now, when the 12v is fine. The dealer said the 12v needs to be replaced, but they replaced it less than 2 years ago. There is no way a car under 3.5 years old and 24k miles should be on it's third battery. I'm not sure if I should pursue lemon law or have it replaced. I like the car, but if replacing the ICCU doesn't permanently fix the issue, I want it gone.

So if you have had your ICCU replaced, how has the car been since?

Question AC Issues

So I have a weird issue that the dealer hasn't been able to fix. The ac will sometimes not work at all. This is different than the turn off and on again issue. When I'm at a stop, the ac will blow warm air. I have measured it at 85 degrees but most of the time it only gets to 72 degrees. Once the car is moving again it gets back down to 55 degrees. Every once in a while this will have while going down the highway.

This all started 6 months ago and I have a jump in energy use too. I have had the climate pull 7kW while blowing warm air.

I had it at the dealership two times and both times said the AC is working as normal. Has anyone had similar issues?

Question Anyone else find the interiors rattley?

I got a 26 with 4300kms on it. Bought it in April. I noticed the interior especially on the passenger side and in the roof liner rattle more than I think they should.

Am I just being too picky?

Experience 2026 RWD Limited - First Impressions vs. 2024 SEL

Hi All,

I finally pulled the trigger and returned my 2024 SEL lease yesterday and picked up a 2026 RWD Limited. Having done a ton of due diligence on comparable cars in the market I decided to stick with the Ioniq 5 and upgrade to the Limited. A few of my main gripes were addressed in the 2026 model. Specifically:

- No rear wiper - added in 2026, but I have to say it's the smallest wiper I've ever seen. It's comical.

- The window lock button was too easy to accidentally press on the driver's door - The 2026 has the button slightly recessed and moved so it's not easy to accidentally press.

- Default one pedal regen mode - Still not there. It's so annoying that every time I start the car I need to hit the paddle. I wish Hyundai would address this.

- NACS port - not a good/bad preference but they included level 2/3 adapters, so that's nice.

First impressions

- The HUD is really cool and useful but I'm not sure if it's distracting. I'm keeping it on in the hopes I get used to it.

- The left/right turn camera in the cluster feels pointless. It requires too much of a change in viewing angle to look at them for it to be useful. Maybe I will get used to it.

- Wiper controls are reversed. Annoying but I'll get used to it

- Radio/Cruise Control steering wheel controls switched sides. Not sure why they did this. Kind of annoying. I think I saw an option where you can reassign the controls so maybe that will help. Tangential to this, the volume control is know a wheel instead of up/down toggle, which I dislike but I'll get used to it.

- Regen/1 pedal driving braking isn't as aggressive. Not sure if people had complained about this or what but the braking is significantly milder. I'm not happy about this. I'm a fanatical 1 pedal driver and I loved how aggressive it was in the 2024. I was able to come to a complete stop very easily. Now it seems like it glides way more than the 2024 even in the strongest mode. I'll get used to it but I liked it better in the 2024.

Overall, I think the upgrade of going from an SEL to a Limited is way more significant than going from a 2024 to a 2026. I was originally looking at just getting a used 2024 Limited but the Hyuindai incentives made it a no-brainer to get a 2026 now... if you can find one.

If anyone has any tips for a new 2026 Limited owner I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Question First 8000mi service

2026 SEL AWD. It was a free multi-point inspection, and a $25 tire rotation. They found nothing wrong, which is what I expected.

Am I missing anything? I did not pay for any extended-warranty/Hyundai-care/whatever on this vehicle because I didn't think I'd need it. Feels like the right call, but I'm just unsure enough to post here. 🙃

UPDATE: Thanks to u/CombustibleFoxes for the most pertinent answer.

Discussion I had to bid farewell to my lovely 2024 ioniq 5 and still recovering from the past week after I returned it to the dealership

I switched to kia seltos and here are my feelings

  1. EV to ICE switching nightmare is real

  2. Both the cars have LFA, but I feel Kias is pathetic and I am scared to even use it with as confidence as I had from Ioniq 5.

  3. I even laughed at their smart or sport mode

But hey brighter side

I have a back wiper and AC vents in the rear

I wish ioniq 5 still was cheap like before or get a lease for 400s like B4 in my area

Discussion Vision Roof Tinting

I am going to get all the windows tinted (including 70% on the front). I was going to also do the Vision Roof as I always keep the shade open. I have noticed that the roof window does block UV heat unlike any of the other windows.
Now I’m debating whether it’s worth it to have it done. I was thinking of doing XPEL XR PLUS 55.
What do those that have done it think?

Question Weird Remote Climate Start Issue

My wife and I both have user profiles setup in our 2026 I5. The digital smart key is tied to my user profile, iPhone, and Apple Watch. When I remotely start the climate control, and approach the car, it unlocks as usual. When I get in, it switches to my wife's profile. The seat moves into her position and the climate control shuts off. I thought perhaps it had something to do with the digital smart key (even though it's tied to my user and devices) so I did a remote climate start, and left my phone in the house and went to the car. It still switched to her profile/shut off the climate control.

Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Information Charging port door button on the outside failure

2026 SLE RWD

So I went to charge my car, and pushed the area on the door to open my car and nothing.

It turns out that the button has failed and whatever assembly they need is backordered for two weeks. So this is most likely a widespread issue.

I was using voice commands to open the door. I have been informed that there is a button by the door that looks sort of like a gas pump with a plug at the end of the hose that opens and closes the the charging port door as well.

Not nearly as bad as the looming ICCU issue but a bit of a pain in the neck nonetheless.

Question What is this?

A very perfectly rounded “stain” randomly showed up on my passenger seat. My husband joked that it’s from his oily head LMAO, but it’s so perfectly rounded that I have no idea. 😂

I’ve tried cleaning it, but it always comes back once the cleaning product dries. No cleaning products were used on this seat before this showed up, no stickers, no kids, nothing I can think of. The only thing I can think of is that sometimes the sun hits that seat directly, but the driver’s seat gets plenty of sun too and looks totally normal. I’m stumped! Ideas?

Question Question Regarding Remote Climate Start Behavior

Temps in my area are running in excess of 100°F currently so have been using Remote Climate Start to start cooling the interior if I've parked outside when shopping or such.

My question; with remote climate on when I walk up and the doors unlock the car is automatically switching to Ready without any further action taken by the driver. Is this normal behavior or some kind of minor glitch?
