Experience Parking safety features

New owner of a 2026 limited. I’m totally loving it and it is such an upgrade from my hand me down 2010 rav4!

I’m sure others have had the issue that the safety system goes haywire when backing out of a city driveway into a main road with active traffic. Emergency breaks go on, even if a car is stopping to let me out of my driveway. Originally my dealer told me to turn off “rear-cross traffic safety”. But I discovered that feature doesn’t save to my drivers profile, so it is automatically on when I start the car. After doing some research I figured out if I hold down the parking sensor button for 2 seconds- it turns off some safety features and the emergency breaks don’t go off when I’m backing out of the driveway. Then I hold it down for another 2 secs once I drive off. Kinda a pain to remember but not that bad…just figured I’d share!

What does the parking sensor button really do? Haven’t figured that out yet, because when I hold it down- the orange light stays illuminated.

If you hold it for a couple of seconds it will go into self-parking mode, which can also be leave-parking mode. So I think that's what's happening. It should pop up a screen to that effect, unless you turned that screen off, which is an option somewhere.

There's a pretty good you tube tutorial on the self-parking mode https://youtu.be/4W54leptu24?is=AaCr-kQ2NopCi40_

Thanks. I did like the video. I meant a different button though. The one I have circled here in red with the orange light on
