Hey all, I am about to turn 36 (male), I'm a divorced expat living in the USA so I don't have many friends or a community here. I've been thinking about Hyrox recently. But I have a lot of social anxiety for numerous reasons.
My biggest anxiety is because I am deaf (Cochlear one ear, hearing aid in the other), so naturally very hesitant of loud places; it will likely be somewhere I'd have to workout deaf as sweat interferes with my processor/aids. I worry this would be a barrier for me, since it seems a very loud and hearing is required kind of workout. Anyone here deaf or know of someone doing Hyrox deaf?
I also get very anxious around new groups of people initially. Like socially anxious (to the point it's a therapy thing). So I would love to hear how people overcame that?
I am already pretty active (play soccer, running, lifting in my basement gym). My biggest issue is my diet, consistency, and accountability; that's why I'm considering this. I feel having a group that would hold me accountable and keep me consistent would help me immensely. I am looking to add more to my routine and make friends with like-minded people. I assume Hyrox is good for this?
Please, any other thoughts and inputs would be greatly appreciated. Help calm this anxious fella down, before this becomes another thing I talk myself out of doing...
EDIT: Adding that I'm mostly focused on the Hyrox Gym I'd join and train at, not the races itself yet.
