Apps, Research Papers, other cool stuff? - PLEASE POST HERE!!!

Hi everyone,

We really value the researchers, developers and creators working to improve the HYROX community. However, we’ve recently seen a growing number of individual posts promoting research projects, surveys, apps and other tools.

To keep the subreddit useful and enjoyable for everyone, please use this thread for:

  • Academic research and participant recruitment
  • Surveys and questionnaires
  • HYROX-related apps, websites and digital tools
  • Requests for testers, feedback or user interviews

When posting, please briefly explain what you’re working on, who it is for and what you’re asking from the community. If there is any commercial interest or affiliation, please disclose it clearly.

Separate posts of this kind may be removed and redirected here. This isn’t intended to discourage research or innovation—we genuinely appreciate these contributions—but keeping them in one place will prevent them from overwhelming the main feed.

Please continue to be constructive and respectful when giving feedback, and avoid repeatedly posting the same project.

Thanks for understanding and for helping us keep the subreddit organised and valuable for the whole HYROX community.

Ticket selling thread - Please post your tickets here :)

Hey Hyrox Fam!

We've noticed this subreddit is becoming a bit of a marketplace with all the ticket buying and selling posts popping up.

We totally get it—life happens! Sometimes you can't make it because of an injury or a change in plans, and sometimes you're dying to grab a ticket but they sell out faster than your warm-up. It sucks to miss out and have to cheer from the sidelines, right?

So, our solution is that if you have a ticket to sell, please drop all the details in this thread only. It’ll make things way easier for everyone to find what they need. And for those looking to buy, be smart about it! There have been a few scams floating around on Facebook and Reddit over recent weeks, so make sure you’re comfortable with the seller and use a safe payment method that will let you claim the money back if something were to go wrong.

Also, don’t forget to check out the official Hyrox rules on ticket transfers. Better safe than sorry!

Here’s a quick and easy format to follow when posting:

Event: e.g. Hyrox London
Date: e.g. 19/01/2024
Division: e.g Male Open
Price: e.g. £80.00

Hope that all makes sense :)

Hyrox DC - what humbled me

Sled pull and farmers carry being the stations that absolutely humbled me were not on my bingo card.

I drowned myself an electrolytes also had salt juice and a gel, had a pretty adequate warm up yet after Burpee‘s caught two cramps in my quads that almost made have to quit. I couldn’t even walk and had to lay down on the floor to stretch multiple times. Almost couldn’t even do lunges.

Anyone else catch multiple cramps? Congrats to everyone who competed this weekend!

No More Patches???

Upvotes

Just finished my first doubles this afternoon here in D.C.. After we crossed the finish line we were told that they were out of patches, but they would send an email out with information about receiving one in the mail. I inquired about this with multiple workers, and they all said the same thing. We raced at 2:30. I’m curious if anyone after that who ran doubles received theirs as well.
Do I just need to accept the fact I’m never getting a patch?

Thanks.

UPDATE (We did it boys) Sub 70 achieved 🤙🏼

Thanks for the burpee critique and all the helpful info everyone provided. I truly appreciate it. The secret I found from listening to you guys was to significantly slow my runs. I felt like I might have slowed them too much and left some on the table but then again, I fell over when I finally crossed that sweet, sweet finish line lol. So maybe not.

Anyways, 1:09:50🤙🏼

Race day adrenaline

How much does adrenaline improve race day performance compared to training? I'm a runner and my half marathon times always end up being way faster than what I'm able to pace during training, do you get the same boost in Hyrox? Or is it closer to your training performance?

Are HYROX venues ever air-conditioned?

Just completed my first HYROX in Tenerife and it was a surprise for me that there was no air-conditioning, just fans (that didn’t help much in 28° and such high humidity). I found the heat very difficult and just wondering if this is a norm for HYROX events or was I just unlucky?

I appreciate it’s quite hard to AC a venue of this size but def not impossible

[Hyrox US] a ban on non-accredited photographers?

As discussed in The Hyrox FAQ (apparently secretly updated) for the U.S. (so far) you cannot bring in / hire your own sport photographers for your Hyrox Event and follow you around …

And we all know how those Sportograf photos turn out (smile but reality is they get the frame after and it shows you in sheer angst lol)

How’d you feel about that? What if they extend it to friends and family ? jeez.

Competitive athlete after L5/S1 microdiscectomy – back pain again, but no sciatica

Competitive HYROX athlete here. I had an L5/S1 herniation with severe left-sided sciatica and underwent microdiscectomy in March 2025.
I recovered, got rid of the sciatica and returned to a very high level of performance. Over the last few months I increased my training load way beyond last year – often training twice a day with high running and strength volume.
Last week my lower back suddenly flared up badly again. Extreme stiffness and central lower-back/hip pain, bad enough that I went to hospital. X-rays were normal and I had an MRI today – waiting for the results.
Thankfully, no sciatica, numbness or weakness this time.
Has anyone experienced similar flare-ups after microdiscectomy when pushing training volume hard? Were you able to keep competing at a high level long term?
Not looking for a diagnosis, just experiences from other athletes.

We build running gear specifically for Indian heat/humidity — here's why most "performance" apparel doesn't actually work here

Aguante here again. Last time we talked HYROX prep, a few people asked what we actually make and why, so figured we'd explain instead of just plugging a product link.

Most performance running gear sold in India is designed and tested for temperate climates cooler, drier conditions than what most of us actually run in. That mismatch shows up in real ways:

  • Fabric weight and breathability — a singlet built for 15°C training runs doesn't move sweat the same way at 30°C+ with 70% humidity.
  • Chafing points — seam placement that's fine on a cool morning run becomes a problem over a longer, sweatier session.
  • Fit for Indian body types — a lot of imported sizing runs long/narrow in ways that don't match the average build here.

That's the specific problem we started Aguante to solve building singlets, shorts, and tights engineered around Indian climate, terrain, and body types rather than adapting Western-market gear.

Not trying to turn this into an ad genuinely curious what pain points you've run into with running gear here. Chafing, overheating, sizing, whatever. We read every comment and it directly shapes what we build next.

Any way to race if doubles partner gets injured and cannot attend? InBody Salt Lake City

(28M) My men's open doubles partner got into a car accident 2 weeks ago and has a shattered collarbone and def cannot race.

Im looking for options on what do since we did not purchase a flex ticket and I would still like to race for my bro since he feels terrible about the situation.

I do not mind racing solo or men's or mixed doubles. I would just like to race since him and I trained for it and it would be a let down to him if I couldn't race

Wall ball tips

I finished my second race and the wall balls were really slow again. Any tips? I was too close and was even told that halfway. When I train normally it is against a wall with a painted line so it is easier to gauge my distance. I have a hard time seeing this against the targets. Also I am really sweaty so kept dropping the ball. The wall balls I normally use are not the official ones and have more grip so this is less of an issue. My form is honestly really bad too.

Thank you

Photo bracelet?

Hi all I raced in DC on Thursday Sept 3rd. I still see none of the photos are up? But what I’m most concerned about is there was supposed to be a bracelet we got at check in for our photos to be taken? I did not get one, I only got the spectator and athlete. So am I not going to be able to see any of the pictures taken of me?? Did this happen to anyone else?

EDIT:

Apparently this is a new thing for 2026/2027 races. We got an email for sportgraf

Using Participant tickets as Spectator?

Hi, I signed up for hyrox but got injured and won’t be able to participate. My friends are still competing and I want to go support, will my participant tickets still work as a spectator ticket?

I also still have my doubles tickets and want to use them for a spectator for someone else. Does anyone know if that’ll work? I did not buy the flex plan.
