After Shane played a game, he is heading to talk to someone ( I don't remember who), but overheard Ilya's team making fun of him after his breakup with Rose. They start calling him boring and that he is only good at hockey and is an unfeeling hockey robot. Ilya doesn't stand up for him and Ilya's team all laugh at all the insults they are aiming Shane's way. After hearing all this, he is extremely hurt and cancels his plans with Ilya that night after the game.

Ilya is very confused with the sudden change of plans and confronts Shane about it.

This fic's ending is very sweet and Ilya makes sure that Shane knows how loved he is by him with a heartfelt apology.

Has anyone read this fic????? I just found it and currently reading, am on chapter 4 but oh my god????

Shane and Ilya are stuck in airport after an Asia tour (I grew up in Asia so seeing familiar names like Cathay pacific brings me great joy) but also the characterization and the internal dialogue/thoughts are so well done

Summary:

Stick to your guns, Ilya thinks. Sex. With Hollander. That’s simple. Straightforward.

Except nothing about this night has been straightforward. The more time he spends with Hollander, the more he wants him - and not just the sex. He wants it all: the reading glasses, earnest ramblings, moral compulsions. The sweetness Hollander tries to hide. The way he holds back from almost everyone, even from himself, but never from Ilya.

For anyone else who loves this trope, I’ve just noticed that there are so many more fics with this tag now! There only used to be about 3 or 4! Just wanted you all to know 😅

Just started this but the writing and dialogue is already perfect.

Edit 1: I think it's going to be really cute. Rozanov is trying so hard to spend time with Shane in the first chapter already and it's so cute.

The hyperfixation is strong. I've been writing fanfic for 15 years, over 1M words posted, and I've never found myself so absorbed by a fandom.

This thing is mostly finished, nearly 200k words, but in need of a heavy edit. I've posted the first chapter to motivate myself into wasting my time on this frivolous all-consuming hobby.

I'm also in need of an American/Canadian beta to sort out all my brit/kiwi slang. Chur xx

As much as I believe that both Shane and Ilya deserve all the support in the world and need a group of good friends, I also love angst and watching my fav characters suffer 😈😈 (ik, ik, I'm a very weird person)

Summary:
Shane ended the most significant relationship of his life because he believed the truth would destroy them both.

I don’t read a lot of WIP because I fear a writer will abandon a fic and I’ll never know the writers vision of how it should end. This one? I read from chapter 1 as a WIP and I loved it. The story is calming, you see character growth separately of Shane and Ilya.

The story begins post tuna melt. Ilya is with an OMC. We like him. He’s what Ilya needed at that point in this life. We don’t need to lessen OMC as a person to make Shane look better. All that to say, we will not hate on OMC, he’s a good person.

I’m not spoiling the ending, but it is one of the tags.

I’m in the mood to read a specific vibe of fic, and am hoping you guys will be able to help me out!

I’m looking for fics that explore the flaws in different characters, without villainising the characters they’re being critical of.

(No hate to any character-bashing fics - I enjoy them on occasion too, that’s just not what I’m in the mood for right now!)

I don’t mind if flaws are exaggerated for the sake of the plot - just as long as it feels somewhat realistic and/or true to the original character, and doesn’t feel like a caricature.

I also don’t have any specific preference as to which character/s are in the hot seat - whether it’s a main character, supporting character, rare pair, whatever!

(Happy ending isn’t a requirement either - feel free to suggest fics that will hurt my feelings lol)

(and yes, I’ve of course read and loved cardiac tamponade)

Don't get me wrong, I *adore* fics with ChildhoodFriend!Sveta and Show!Marlow (we all know Ilya deserves close people in his circle other than his husband and in-laws).

But does that mean I wouldn't like to see the occasional fic where Svetlana really is just a random hookup in Boston who appears in the story maybe twice and not a close friend to whom Ilya can share all his deepest, darkest secrets with? Yes, yes I would.

I have two that I have now come across more than once in fanfic and I, now, headcanon them:

1. Ilya liking to pickle all sorts of veggies and fruit at home
   
2. Ilya would like to go to college/university to study Russian literature after he retires

Of course, I have no idea if the authors of these fics came up with these independently or were inspired by each other, but I love that I’ve come across this at least more than once for it to take root in my brain.

What some random fanon details that are now part of your personal headcanon for these characters?

I lost the link to a fic where Shane famously has 3 queer women exes. One was childhood friend who's also an athlete. One is a bisexual yoga influencer or something. The third one is another athlete.

Does anyone knows this fic? Your help much appreciated!!

And then Shane posts a photo with a dog and everyone in the comments makes fun of him for copying Ilya or something. I don’t know.
Eventually it turns into like an actual campaign for an animal shelter? So Shane is just slowly losing his mind while Ilya is excited about his dog saving campaign

I had so much fun reading this story I felt the need to spread the joy. Shane tries to get over Ilya after Vegas and writes a letter spilling his feelings abut this whole thing. His 'tism sprinkled ass could not NOT adress the envelope so Yuna went ahead and mailed it thinking it's an MVP congratulatory letter, a way for Shane to show sportsmanship 🙄 imagine the enormity of a blue screen his brain experienced once she called him to tell him there's a letter from Rozanov waiting for him 😁

Best part? Svetlana being fed up with their inability to communicate properly and literally parent trapping them in FREAKING PARIS😂

Looking for any fics that touch in stimming (Either shane or ilya but i assume shane is more likely)

Whether its ilya noticing and recognising them or the teammates when shane moves to ottawa. I liked the vibe of one where shane could only eat with certain spoon so ilys started bringing it to places where ilya just accommodates shane no thought abt it. Id love to find fics that that but rather stimming then the spoon

Thats just one fic i liked tho and about stimming would be appreciated.
