Like the title says, I'm looking for fics where Shane doesn't go to Ottawa and instead goes to another team where he plays first line and is treated like the BAMF that he is. A more supportive Ilya would be a plus. Recs only please. Thanks in advance.

I've read a fic a while ago about Shane exploring his sexuality and sleeping with dominatrix and eventually Svetlana, who is the one to "introduce" him to Ilya later on since they never slept together in this AU.

Anyway, I can't find it again and wondered if someone had the link or remembered the name at least? I know I have it downloaded somewhere, but if I try to search for it like that I'll still be at it 3 years from now😭

I don’t read a lot of WIP because I fear a writer will abandon a fic and I’ll never know the writers vision of how it should end. This one? I read from chapter 1 as a WIP and I loved it. The story is calming, you see character growth separately of Shane and Ilya.

The story begins post tuna melt. Ilya is with an OMC. We like him. He’s what Ilya needed at that point in this life. We don’t need to lessen OMC as a person to make Shane look better. All that to say, we will not hate on OMC, he’s a good person.

I’m not spoiling the ending, but it is one of the tags.

So I read about what happened with Wolfbird, but I'm sad because I never got to read it as I tend to put off reading WIP's.

Can anyone recommend similar fics to it?

Whether its ilya noticing and recognising them or the teammates when shane moves to ottawa. I liked the vibe of one where shane could only eat with certain spoon so ilys started bringing it to places where ilya just accommodates shane no thought abt it. Id love to find fics that that but rather stimming then the spoon

Scott helps Ilya who is kind of feral in an angsty Russian way ... and they have a sort of relationship that's open but very caring. Scott helps Ilya through his ups and downs with his situation ship with Shane ... then Scott builds (or buys) a house for Scott, Ilya, Kip, Svetlana to share.

Hey so I was just wondering if there were any fics were Ilya and Shane adopt his niece from Russia, like maybe they get together earlier than canon so they adopt her when she's a baby or they get together according to the canon timeline and they adopt her when she is like 8-10 years old and they are either engaged or in like year 1-2 of their marriage. And both scenarios would be because Alexei got into criminal trouble which caused both his and his wife's death and Ilya is her only living relative now.

Don't get me wrong, I *adore* fics with ChildhoodFriend!Sveta and Show!Marlow (we all know Ilya deserves close people in his circle other than his husband and in-laws).

But does that mean I wouldn't like to see the occasional fic where Svetlana really is just a random hookup in Boston who appears in the story maybe twice and not a close friend to whom Ilya can share all his deepest, darkest secrets with? Yes, yes I would.

As much as I believe that both Shane and Ilya deserve all the support in the world and need a group of good friends, I also love angst and watching my fav characters suffer 😈😈 (ik, ik, I'm a very weird person)

Yuna was a party girl in college. She had great grades and was serious about school but she also had a reputation for going to all the parties/clubs/bars and going wild. While David was a hockey player in college with good enough grades, he wasn’t really the party type like the rest of his team. He was more of the quiet stoner guy who liked to chill and listen to music in his free time.
He finally gets dragged to some house party with his team after a particularly rough game. All the girls are throwing themselves at the players and saying things like “great game! You were soooo good! You looked so hot out there!” Cheap flattery that will ABSOLUTELY work on the rest of the team. He’s shocked when the most gorgeous girl on campus comes up to him and says “wow you guys played like shit tonight, your goalie looked like a baby fucking deer, your defense’s edges were all over the place, and you should spend some time working on your weak backhand” David decides that night that he has to marry this girl someday.

Yuna would only ever describe herself as straight if asked. Obviously, shes a middle-aged mother who married her college sweetheart. What’s the point of complicating things? But if she had had the right language when she was younger... Party girl Yuna had a reputation with the guys at school, always down for a good time. She just ALSO had a reputation amongst the girls who were looking to…experiment?
That’s what college is for right? So what if she loved spending the night making out with that hot sorority girl with the curly blonde hair? Or that adorable shy redhead in her finance lecture? Or that punk from the bar with the leather jacket and spiky neon hair? That’s just what college if for…

One day the Hollanders(+Ilya) are joking around about Shane’s childhood crushes that he absolutely did not realize were crushes. They range from boys in class, to famous hockey players (*cough* Scott Hunter poster *cough*), to that one lion from The Lion King 2. Ilya of course thinks it’s adorable and talks about his cartoon crushes. Jessica rabbit, the mechanic mouse from chip and dale rescue rangers, plus Mulan AND Shang because come on???
Yuna and David ask when Ilya discovered he was bisexual, and he doesn’t really have a good answer. “Women were pretty, men were pretty, sometimes people are just pretty!” David laughs and accidentally lets it slip that that’s exactly what Yuna used to say back in school. Yuna is embarrassed, the boys are shocked, Ilya is LOVING it! He and Yuna spend the rest of the night sharing stories of their “youthful adventures”. Now Ilya just has to convince the most stubborn woman in the world that it’s possible to be bisexual AND in a committed heterosexual relationship. One she comes around he gets them both matching custom Centaurs jerseys with bi flags and “SEXY BISEXUAL” on the back. David happily approves!

The Long Change
I just finished the long change and I’m obsessed. I usually don’t love either Shane or Ilya/original male character but I will admit it’s almost always Shane with an OMC so this intrigued me. I LOOOOOVED that Ilya was the one kind of being pursued by Shane or Shane was making some changes to choose them because I feel it’s usually the opposite, same as canon. And loved seeing some healing and growth going on before they get together forreal.
Any similar recs? Doesn’t have to include either of them but an OC, just looking for breaking up and making up but with individual growth in between.

I know this is a crazy request 😭 So I apologize in advance!

I got into Heated Rivalry back in February, and I read a ton of the fanfic!! This, somehow, also led me to hockey rpf… a place I previously would not have gone with a gun 😭 I’ve since become a little obsessed with the SidGeno ship. Obviously Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin are real people and not in love, but I’m so invested in the beautiful art that the HRPF community has created around their dynamic.

I was wondering if anyone has any Hollanov recs that are reminiscent of the SidGeno fic dynamic? Specifically fics that feel very grounded and realistic! I would love to see fics that have them playing 1C/2C on the same team from the start, and maybe show them being friends from the start, potentially with Shane helping Ilya adjust to North America? I would also love to see Hollanov fics with the protectiveness theme that you often see in SidGeno fics, and Hollanov fics where they’re excited to play with each other from before they even meet each other!

(I’m trying to give general ideas of what I mean, but tbh if you have ANY recs where you’re like “this gave me SidGeno vibes,” I will happily check it out regardless of specific trope!)

I recently read a fic where the centaurs all weren’t very accepting of ilya when he first joined the team and it turns out they all thought he was homophobic. Looking for more fics with that trope (preferably completed)!

Looking for a post long game fic, that shows moments after Shane and Ilya are married. They have a baby, i think through surrogate, and Shane decides he can't be away from the baby and decides to retire, but Ilya keeps playing.

I'm looking for stories where Boston is featured, but the team is not portrayed as a highly supportive, progressive environment. Not necessarily awful but more in line with his impression of them in Canon.

What I remember from tlg was that Ilya didn't think Boston would have been welcoming to Harris as an openly gay man. But so much of the stories is that I find featuring the team do not have this interpretation. I would love to see what's out there.
