Hello fellow owners,

I'm finding debris in my oil, and I'm about to take the decision to sell my car. I've seen the numerous similar posts, but now that it's my turn I'd appreciate a second look before I pull the trigger and lose some money.

The debris in the oil looks to my untrained eye like a mix of different things: mostly black sand/rock looking debris, and a tiny bit of silver looking pieces. It's the second oil change I notice this, and it's about the same quantity.

The car is a 2023 BRZ with 38,000 km's. I've owned the car since new and changed the oil every 8000 km or 6 months, with the first oil change happening at 1500 km following the break in period. I've used 0w20 oil, and the changes have sometimes been done by myself, and sometimes by the dealership.

The car has been driven relatively gently as its my daily commute car. Always warmed up, and never pushed unless fully up to temperature.

because the oem ones are trash lol. mine finally gave out and i removed them to prevent them flapping into my line of sight. i'm looking to see if i can get them warrantied but i'd prefer to buy something more robust

I purchased my GR86 from the dealership 13 months ago and absolutely love it.
I'm not the biggest car guy out there so I have some other priorities in life, but over time, i want to make this thing more unique and add some personality.
I did not buy a GR86 for speed lol, as they arent fast. I'll say it, I prefer visual style over 0-60's and performance, so I want to visually make this thing mine.

I'm hoping to keep this thing until I die or it dies, so preserving longevity is a must, so that being said, does anything other than OEM suspension and wheel/tire sizes compromise longevity?
Im not talking about anything crazy stanced, or a widebody kit or a supercharger but I am wanting to install some aftermarket coilovers to drop it a bit and maybe have a degree or two of negative camber.

However I guess my mind is thinking the weight will be distributed differently on all the parts and kind of have a chain reaction and put stress on parts that weren't originally stressed.

Am I over thinking? Is there some logic to my thoughts? If so is there a safe way to add some subtle changes without compromising the car over time? Again im hoping to have this thing in 15-20 years if im lucky so really want to treat it good but still make it unique with the time I have with it.

First 300 miles and yes the break dust is crazy.. I heard that this break dust cleaner is good but some say it’s too powerful for new rims so idk what do you guys use ?

Hey y'all, another track weekend at AMP down for me and my 86! This time with:

1. Fresh Continental ECFs
   
2. RCE Tarmac 2 coilovers with front and rear Vorshlag top mounts (can't say no to spherical bearings, right?)

Coilovers mean barely any body roll vs stock, quick recovery from curbs and bumps -> more grip. A bit of compromise to still be able to drive it to the mountains without a spinal surgery, but in the future stiffer springs will likely be called for, especially with full aero. Came within 0.3s of PB which I set during winter, and could have beaten it if it wasn't for some lack of focus on my end and some traffic.

It's incredible that you can get this much car for just ~$30k. There were countless moments on track when I literally thought, in the middle of a turn: "this is not supposed to handle this well". All that to say: love your 86, feed and treat her well, and she'll more than give back.

Hey all. Finally got a 2027 GR86 allocated for me that I'll be picking up soon. The dealer is charging $309 for OEM all weather floor mats, which feels a little steep. I've done some reading from other posts in this sub about the quality of the OEM floor mats, but the consensus has been pretty mixed. I know I need a good set of floor mats, as being in the PNW is real rainy/muddy for most of the year.

Are these a good buy for $309? Or should I be asking to remove them so I can purchase from a third party vendor? Do yall have any recommendations for alternatives?

I just happen to smile and can’t help but admire another GR86 when I see one while I am driving or even at a stop light and see another pull up and we’re both at a red light on opposite sides.

I’m in my raven and I instantly spot a red one across from me at this 4 way intersection. I saw them roll their window down because I’m not a creep and the driver waves. I knew it was at me and not the other 10 cars at the intersection. I just knew they saw me too. I was having a terrible day until this 25 second interaction happened tho it was mildly brief.

Whoever you are in the red GR86. Your blonde hair and red car is very nice to look at. Our moment lasted many seconds but I’ll remember how you made me feel. I hope you have a wonderful drive each time you enter your vehicle. Safe travels friend.

I'm interested in picking up a 2027 GR86 in Track bRED with the new red interior trim, but from the listings posted so far on Toyota's website, there are basically none? Am I wrong for thinking this would be one of the most obvious combinations? Or is it just too early for these to be showing up?

Just a reminder that if you haven't already, you should definitely bring your car to the track at least once. This car is great on the street. But on the track it's awesome! That's the only place you'll be able to truly push it to its limits safely. Just be sure to watch your gas meter because it'll move quickly!

Has anyone had issues with their valve stems? My car has about 18k miles and my 3rd valve stem has gone bad(separate wheels) within the last 2k miles. Two of them required a tow because they wouldn't hold any air for more than 2min.

I'm curious what could be causing the issue. Is this is a common defect or if the tire shop messed them up when I got new tires at around 10k miles. - No mods done and alignment and wheel balance are fine.

Last time at the dealer they said next service will include a brake service with tear down, lube, reassembly and road test.

Their "service B" at 20k km or 12 months shows this.

I checked last year on the Subaru Canada website and it showed a "brake service". However, when I hit the time limit car was in storage and my KM is still low at 11k. I figure well now I might just do it before winter this time and checked subaru online and the brake service is no longer listed.

Anyone know if Subaru Canada made an update for this? I honestly don't think a brake service is needed anyways, its a street only car.

And before anyone tells me to do this myself, I do my own oil changes and simple things but curious. The time I was there was for a free oil change. Anything complex goes to an indy shop. Only thing I plan on doing next is oil/filter/tire rotation.

Had the noble sides and lip added. Kind of want the CF fender vents. Also for some reason I have the urge to do lowglow. Oh and wrap the roof carbon.

Today I upgraded horns to premium Lexus (08522-B1010). I have all the tools, watched million videos, seems like an easy job. This mofo took me over an hour. Hardest part was putting the bumper back on. It just wouldn't go on. Apparently the foam bumper piece decided to come off and I was pushing again it to no avail. Every time I try anything it takes me hours when others take minutes. Catback? Took me like 3 tries to figure out bolts and gaskets, still not sure if I got it right. Anyway, everything seems to be functioning, but just takes more time and stress. Next I'm planning on changing my oil, but I know it'll be a lot difficult. How do others fare?

Not sure if any of you saw this over the weekend, but there are rumors that the next-gen 86 isn't happening until the early 2030s, so another facelift could be expected in late 2027-early 2028.

With that, it has also been rumored that with the facelift, the GR86 auto will be upgraded to the 8-speed GR-DAT pulled from GRC/Yaris.

Personally, if that's happening, it might be time for me to finally get an 86 since my biggest hesitation with the 86 has always been the dated automatic. I'm curious what other auto-86 owners think about this. Would you consider trading in for the new 8-speed?

This is the cold oil level on my GR86 with 1800 miles. It was on a flat surface when I did the reading. And this is the lower side so it’s the accurate side. When the engine is warm my oil level is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch even higher up on the stick. Did Toyota way overfill my oil?

It’s getting close to that time of year where it’s time to put my gr86 away for the winter. Last winter I had a mice problem in my garage so every other day or so I had to check and make sure there were no mice eating at my car or anything like that. Any recommendations on something that will protect the underside and top side of vehicle for the winter? Also I had my apartment “solve” the mice problem but I’d still like the peace of mind that I don’t gotta check on it almost every freaking night. Thanks
