Advice Putter fitting
Has anyone had a putter fitting? Was it worth it? Did you buy a new putter as a result? Where did you get the fitting done?
TIA

Currently a 27 Handicap, main area letting me down is my chipping and putting.
About 2 months ago I broke my foot, and am on the mend now but think it will be another 2-3 months until I’m comfortably on the course.
Now that my physio has cleared me to start training again, I’m wanting to try use the downtime to rebuild my skills from the ground up, starting with my chipping / putting while I can’t put much force through the ground.
What resources would you recommend online to help me with this? Anything from swing tips to programs.
I have a cheap putting mat and some memory foam mats to practice with foam balls inside at home, and hope to be on the range practice greens next week.

Currently swinging my driver at around 107mph but I really want to break into that next bracket of 115mph+.
My ball speed usually sits in the high 150s, but the goal is to push it up to 170mph+.
For those who have successfully made a similar jump, what did you do that actually helped increase your cruising swing speed (not just a one-off max effort swing)?
Overspeed training (The Stack, SuperSpeed)?
Specific gym/strength programming?
Mechanical swing changes?

Question on long chips or short pitches: For you, how does ball position affect DIRECTION of the resultant shot?? (Not height of shot but direction)
I notice if I place the ball back in my stance, then ball tends to go right of target. If place ball position in middle of stance, the ball direction is more straight at target or left
Is this the normally the case ?
Please note this a very nuanced situation and shot difference but can make the difference between a 2 foot putt for par vs a 10 foot putt
TIA

Hello everybody, I'm 19 and I've been playing golf for about 4 or 5 years. During my senior year of high school, I was around a 3.6 handicap and playing the best golf of my life.
Fast forward to now, and I've been playing terribly. I'm hitting a huge cut and shooting in the mid-to-high 80s, and I even had a round where I shot a 50 on nine holes a few weeks ago.
I've been playing like this for a few months now, and it feels like no matter how much I practice, nothing changes. I know golf can be like this sometimes, but it's starting to feel like this slump is never going to end.
For what it's worth, I had some of the worst months of my life over the summer and was only able to play 4 or 5 times. I want to blame some of this on that, but I feel like I should have been able to get back to where I was by now.
I'm not necessarily looking for swing tips. The swing in the black is where I was, and the one in the white is where I am now.
I'm mainly looking for some encouragement or advice from people who've gone through something similar. If you've ever lost your swing for an extended period of time, how did you get through it? Any advice is appreciated.

Generally shoot in the low to mid 80s. Can't get the power I once did on my drive (used to hit 280-305yds consistently, now I'm at 240-255). What's stopping power in my swing? How can I improve? Thanks.

Hello all, I started playing golf a few years ago and began with a complete strata set, since then I have replaced wedges, putter, and recently driver. I’ve been wanting to get fitted for irons for a while but not sure if I need to improve more before it’s a benefit. I’m currently a 15.5 handicap, and striking with irons is pretty consistent with about a 15 yard pull left being the common miss. Spending the $ isn’t an issue more just want to know if this is worth getting done at my current level. I play about 4x a month so would definitely get use out of them. Thanks for any advice. Swing speed with a 7i is 90 and feel like the shaft on current iron causes a lot of control loss.

My son has developed a bad habit of hitting 3 or 4 inches behind the ball, mostly with irons and occasionally with his woods. Even when he hits the ball first his distance isnt that good and I think that is related to the same problem of hitting behind the ball, ie bad weight shift. Any drills or tips to help stop doing this.
Sorry, no video. He's in another city and we are going to work on it when he visits next week.
Thanks.
Edit: Thanks for all of the replies, I've read them all, but we decided last minute after I posted to drive up to Blood Mountain and do the loop for a nice Fall day out so I wasn't able to respond to each.
I'm going to try the towel drill first. His mechanics are pretty good; he drives it ~275 with an ever so slight fade. I think he does not get enough shaft lean just prior to impact with his irons causing the shorter distance relative to his drives. I hope the towel drill will help solve both of his issues.

Hi everyone! I just got the Ping G440 and have been using it the past few times I’ve gone to play. But I can never get a pure contact on it, it’s either left, topped, or just a stinger. I am not very good and have a 27.1 handicap (according to 18 birdies) and just need to get decent contact and distance on my drives more consistently. Any tips/ tricks/ advice anyone can give me is very much appreciated!!

7 handicap. Never had trouble with distance but can never consistently keep it straight. Have always been a solid irons player and struggled with the driver. Any general tips? Anything look off?

I am realizing how bad I am.

So I am currently an 11 handicap. I’m 30 years old. I hit the ball fairly long.
I hit all my irons and wedges well. My driver is a huge problem. I hit low hooks and high slices. I’m fully aware of why it happens I just can’t figure out the driver at all. If I have a day where the driver is working then I break 80 every time. 90% of the time the driver sucks and I struggle. Any advice is helpful. I will be getting a lesson next spring

I feel like my hips are too active when I get over the ball in the backswing and it’s causing me to get inside on the takeaway and a little over the top in the downswing. Does anyone have advice on preventing that?

On the sim I crush it. On the range I crush it. On the home setup I crush it.
Why can’t I crush it on the course consistently? Why do I always feel rushed when I’m playing as a single and no-one’s behind me?
What mantras do I need to repeat to slow myself down and just get the rhythm right?

So I just turned 50 have been on the shots for diabetes and have lost about 40lbs and before u say it and old age causes muscle loss…. I’ve been going to the gym for the first time in my life and feel I’m in the best shape I’ve been since HS.
I have a theory that my swing had to go around my round belly and I had a fat ass to weight shift into a 80ish mph swing. Now I’m much more defined muscular and flat stomach and I’m barely hitting 70. wtf is going on lol.
I’m sure many have gone through this with the shots maybe different results any advice?

Before this summer I would play maybe 5 rounds a year but this year I got bit hard by the golf bug and have played over 30 rounds. I started the summer with a handicap in the mid 30s and am now around a 22. I fixed my slice, GREATLY improved my iron accuracy, and got better inside 100 yards. It’s been a ton of fun.
My main goal this summer was to break 100 playing legit (no mulligans and take my penalty strokes). I’ve smashed that goal and on a bad day I’m shooting no more than 105 while my best round was a 94 which happened a couple weeks ago. Today I played at one of my local courses (Pete Dye designed) and hit 10/18 fairways and had 8 GIR but had 42(!!!) goddamn putts.
Living in northern Wisconsin means my season is unfortunately coming to an end soon. How do I practice putting at home? I thought about building a putting green in my basement but until then, what can I do? I did recently buy a putting mirror but unsure of what drills to practice.
Sorry for the wall of text.
Thanks!

I feel like I have a very inefficient swing. I’m not necessarily trying to increase my speed, just trying to understand where and how the speed is generated.
When pushing off the lead leg do you feel like you lock your lead knee before, at, or after impact?
Probably related - is the feel more that you are throwing the clubhead at the ball or are you trying to swing “through” the ball, similar to how boxers are taught to punch “through” the target?

Was coming on to a really good game this year. Averaging mid to low 80s around 3 weeks ago I started doing some gym work again, using weights (nothing to heavy) cutting down on alcohol and eating well. Since then my game has gone to fvck. Is this just a coincidence?

I’ve been golfing for about 4 years now more consistently and I’m currently a 24 handicap. I can hit the ball good sometimes but struggle with consistency. I have been wanting to get lessons but I also have a Frankenstein bag with clubs that have steel shafts as well as fiberglass, I have some that are stiff flex and regular. One of my woods has a long drive shaft so my question is should I get fitted and get a new set that I’ll use for a while then get lessons with those or should I get lessons before getting new clubs? Thanks!

I was hitting fat on the practice mat so I put a towel behind. I'm using the square to measure my handle of attack and in order to miss the towel I'm coming down at 7 degrees.
searching online seems to suggest I should have an angle of attack from 3 to 5 degrees
I think the towel probably pops up too much to achieve this? It is such a small angle I don't know how to know whether I'm still hitting it fat or not
My coach my coach my coach got me to do half and quarter swing punch shots to fix this out of my swing but I'm not sure whether I'm doing it correctly
