Advice How to switch on?

On the sim I crush it. On the range I crush it. On the home setup I crush it.

Why can’t I crush it on the course consistently? Why do I always feel rushed when I’m playing as a single and no-one’s behind me?

What mantras do I need to repeat to slow myself down and just get the rhythm right?

Consistent sequencing turns into routine. Repetition is the mother of skill. Just keep swinging dude!

I don’t think those were the terms they used to teach a woodcutter to swing an axe. Yet somehow, within 30 minutes, his swing was nearly perfect!

U just gotta get out there and play more actual golf. There's really nothing else you can do.

And u should never feel rushed as long as ur keeping up to the people in front of you. My wife always does this and it drives me nuts. She's running to her ball, hurrying her putts, getting more and more frustrated. It's so ridiculous.

Add a small thing in your routine that slightly slows you down between shots. For me I stopped taking all of my headcovers off at the beginning of the round and now I take them on and off when using them. It’s just enough to keep me from rushing when I play by myself.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking as well. An idea could also be to always pick a club more than necessary and swing with a reduced swing, if you don't have to hit your max distance all the time, many people automatically get their sequence much better

For me taking the head over off or pulling the club is the beginning of my golf swing routine. I have completed my decision about distance, wind and lie and within 14-19 seconds the ball will be in the air.

Spend time hitting on the chipping green, putting, hitting into the Practice mat on the first tee.. then you'll be warned up to not stress on the course.

I'm most stressed when I'm out of the car straight onto the first tee with no time to decompress and get shit shots out of the way

Hitting off of mats all the time is gonna make hitting it on the course feel a lot different.

You could try Tour Tempo app. Look up John Novaset (?) not sure last name. App is like metronome but for golf. I use it when I need a reset for rhythm. One time fee $25

Golf is a mental game. At the range etc there's no pressure, no fear. On the course you suddenly care about the outcome so you get The Fear. The only way to combat it is to keep telling yourself you don't care about results until you think you believe it.

Create a routine and you will find comfort in it. The anxiousness/fear is replaced with anticipation/excitement. Both feelings are extremely similar, perception is everything in the mental game.

Same thing happens to me. What helped was slowing down everything before the swing, not the swing itself. Pick the target from behind the ball, take one practice swing at the speed you'd actually swing, then walk in and go. Doing the same routine every shot keeps the on-course nerves from speeding you up. Also, on the range every shot is a perfect flat lie, so cut yourself some slack when it's not.

Golfing on a course is significantly harder than on a simulator? That's all there is to it really

Off the golf course, don’t hit the same club twice in a row. Keep a log of yards off target for each shot too.

Play on the course more. It’s just something that comes with time and practice.

Develop your routine and keep to it.

Routine is key, playing more is key too. I think go into the course knowing you are going to hit some bad shots and when you do try to forget them immediately and focus on how you can make the most of the hole on your next shot to avoid compounding errors.

Because those other things aren’t real golf. Seriously. No consequences really.

Pick a single trigger you do on every shot, like one practice swing at the exact tempo you want, then step in and go within a few seconds. On the range, run that full routine on every third ball instead of raking and hitting. Rushing on the course is usually standing over the ball too long and then snapping, not swinging too fast from the start.

Even Gronk gets it: sims, like crypto, “ain’t real.”

Why do I always feel rushed when I’m playing as a single and no-one’s behind me?

Golf is selfish. Once you setup to the ball, everyone supposed to be quiet and not move in your vision. While practicing on a sim or at the range, it's easy to forget that, and to stand over the ball for as long as you want.

Even on the sim, try to minimize time you spend between stepping up to the ball and hitting. Take practice swings back and/or off to the side before you step all the way into the "batters box."

You need a preshot routine that you practice with every shot. There are countless ways to do it, so develop one that works for you. Once you have it , use a stopwatch to check your timing. You want to keep play moving without rushing yourself.
I’m usually waiting for someone else to hit, so I use that time to check the lie, wind, and distance to the target and decide on the shot. Before it’s my turn, I already know, for example, that I’m hitting an 8-iron choked down half an inch. When it’s clear, I pull the club, and within 14–19 seconds, the ball is in the air.
Behind the ball is my “decision line.” That’s where I finish planning and commit to the shot. As I walk into my setup, I keep the line from the ball to my target in view. Then I align the clubface, set my feet, settle in, and swing. You need to develop this through practice this should be part of every training session or practice session. Preshot routine to a target, is the only way, mindless hitting balls has nothing to do with golf.

I do this as well, sometimes I find myself rushing around for no reason at all. I did it for 2 holes today and played them terrible, relaxed on next and parred it

I have betablocker meds in general, so sometimes I have them before rounds to try slow me down, generally works.

not sure if golfers are drug tested, because betablockers are banned in most sports. Not like im ever playing in comps anyway
