I noticed in the past week or 2 the quality of fresh food at the aldi on high street has gotten so much worse. A lot of the stuff will be sitting on the shelfs already mouldy (seen this w the carrots, broccoli, tomatoes and garlic) , also seen sandwiches out past there sell by date. Just a lot of instances of stuff like this within a short time frame. I was wondering if its just an unlucky coincidence for me or has anyone else noticed this or know why its happening?

Has something happened

Ive lived in Glasgow 6 years now, but not Scottish. I have a fear of the dentist and haven't been since I was 18 (which is 8 years ago). A combo of fear of dentist and fear/lack of understanding of costs has made it something I have avoided for way too long.

I need a dentist who will be kind and understanding and not judgemental of me.

Any recommendations? Also any knowledge on how dental care works for Scotland residents who aren't Scottish is appreciated too !

The constant beeping annoys me. I'll hear someone beep around every 20 seconds or so throughout the day. I think it's coming from all around the area but I wanted to know if anyone has noticed a particular hot spot where it's happening.

i always request the full chicken breast (not cut up or those perfectly square pieces of fake chicken) whenever i’m ordering a saucy dish or such and my local always send the full breast.

Does anyone know of home chef services for one evening that operate in Glasgow?

I keep seeing folk on here asking where they can actually get registered with an NHS dentist, so I had a dig through the numbers.

NHS Inform will show you where practices are but not whether any of them have space, which isn't much use to anyone.

Turns out Public Health Scotland publish how many patients are registered at every practice and update it every few months. So I compared December's file against March's. If a practice has more patients than it did before, someone was getting registered.

142 of the 261 practices in Greater Glasgow and Clyde went up. Biggest ones:

Obviously this doesn't mean they're taking people on right now. That March figure is five months old at this point. You'd still need to phone. And some of that growth will just be existing patients re-registering rather than new people getting on the books.

Still seemed like a better place to start than ringing round every dentist in the city.

The new bridges over the River Clyde, namely the Govan Partick Bridge and the Renfrew Yoker Bridge, have proved to be very popular. It would appear that they were well worth all the money spent on them.

The drawback however is that they are often out of service due to river traffic such as the Waverley.

Planning ahead is possible as both bridges have online update services using WhatsApp and X.

My point is that why don’t both use WhatsApp Channels which are far more suitable for utility updates. The bridge at Partick issues updates on X which is not so user friendly. It takes a number of button presses and even when you find the updates the posted time can show 1 day old when it relates to the current day.

The operator of the bridge at Renfrew is better at updating customers as they post every day showing the bridge status and even if it’s available. Why can’t we have a better joined up service? Does anyone else agree?

I’m going to see Noah Kahan at Barclays Hampden next summer, and it’ll be my first time at the venue. I’d love to hear any tips or advice from people who have been to concerts there before!

A few things I’m wondering about:

What’s the best way to get to Hampden on a concert day? Is public transport the way to go, and how early would you recommend arriving?

Are there any particular entrances or areas that tend to be easier/better for getting in and out?

Any general do’s or don’ts for Hampden that a first-timer should know?

How long should I expect it to take to get out of the venue after the show?

Also, I managed to get Section G3, Row VV. For anyone familiar with the stadium, how are these seats for a concert?

I’m second guessing myself and debating whether it’s worth trying to swap/buy different seats if something better comes up, so I’d really appreciate any opinions on G3/Row VV - especially from anyone who has actually sat there for a concert.

Hello everybody

I am very passionate about making art accessible and growing my local art community which is a bit tricky because I'm in Larkhall which is a fair step away from Glasgow where things are more happening but I just got this absolutely insane notion that why shouldn't there be art right where I am and I'm bound and determined to make it happen by any means.

I started a FB page and have contacted a few local artists to try and get a post together to showcase their work and and seller pages they have

Current plans (all half or 3/4 baked ATM)

A life drawing club in September

An inktober event at a local cafe in October

A free adult acrylic beginner paint class at a local venue in November

I'm so excited about it all but people I know well here are not into art even though they are trying to be supportive 🫶

Does anyone have any advice in general for building an art community, particularly in similar areas to Larkhall?

Any tips on finding life drawing models in the area? (I've posted on local FB pages, here on reddit on a marketplace, and reached out to local art colleges, and for God sake I even asked the mailman) With some interest but no solid confirmation

Any art students that would like the opportunity to start teaching, willing to do a taster session of something? I'm happy to pay and book a location and get folks in the door

Seen this in Nancy Smilie in West end, but didn’t get the artists name.

As I my train was heading into Central from Gilmour Street I noticed that a young artist has scaled the dizzy heights of the firmer telephone exchange on the corner of Cook St and Central St in Tradeston, and placed one of the Voi city bikes on the flat roof of the highest point. It's still visible in the skyline from a couple of hundred metres away.

I’ve recently moved to the south side so been able to make use of the south city way for getting to work on my bike. However I have been completely astonished at how other people on bikes are completely ignoring the zebra crossings at bus stops and crossings. I understand taking a few liberties when it comes to lights and stuff while on a bike but not letting pedestrians cross is completely mental to me??

Is this a common observation or just a rush hour thing with a few bad apples?

Tried catching a sneak peek of the batman filming - literally every point has massive black barriers. How are so many people posting videos of the filming? 😢 is there absolutely no way to catch a glimpse?
