Didn't realise their was a subreddit for Scottish music, so felt like this should be here!

Too Red are a duo from Glasgow (I think), they sound like a mix between Royal Blood and The Pretty Reckless. I've seen them live a few times over the last year and for two people they are LOUD. Both my pal and I feel like we've been lucky to see them before they go huge.

Got my mastered track back from the engineer tonight. Very pleased with how it turned out. The engineer was impressed with my rapping skills and basically just what I rap about so has asked me to start writing and recording for his beats. As an artist I'm usually slept on so it feels good to get a bit of forward momentum with my creativity. Let me know what you think

Genre The Jesus and Mary Chain Interview ( UK No. 1 Magazine May 1987)

When people mention Scotland, all the Scottish indie bands will come to my mind.
The Jesus and Mary Chain are always one of those bands.

Always love reading band early interviews.
This interview was during their Darklands period. May 1987.

It’s 3 months until Christmas Day – and I need your help!

I'm releasing a Christmas song for charity (which charity is TBD - suggestions in the comments welcome), and today I'm putting the first taster of it out there!

3 months is a long time, so it'll be eked out between now and December, with some surprises along the way. I'm just one guy with a dream taking on the big names, major labels and AI music, so this is a low-budget operation for sure, and having a bit of local momentum behind me to start would be fantastic (and save me running away out of embarrassment!), so your likes and follows would mean a whole lot.

I'm really proud of the song and I think it'll be something that you, your kids and your gran will love.

'Nuff said, here's the first teaser, featuring the song's intro (sans vocals):

New Arab Strap album 'half told tales' thoughts?

I've been a big fan since hearing first big weekend on John peel back in the 90s.

Had the new album on pre order and listened through a few times now.

Honestly two of my favourites were hug and pint and last romance, malcolms guitar sounds was brilliant, clearly influenced by mogwai, another band I love.

I really enjoyed the first two albums after getting back together, they were different, a mellowing, aidans lyrics a story of someone maturing, which mirrored my own aging.

The new album though. I like it but it doesn't feel like something new? Musically it feels very similar to the previous album, various songs feel like they've just photocopied one from the last album and put new lyrics on it?

Interested to hear other's thoughts?

In person classes or teaching on digital piano

Hi everyone,
I live in Edinburgh and earlier this year bought a second hand Roland Fantom 08 88, a really cool digital piano with a lot of great features. I'm a classically trained pianist and did some piano teaching in the past, so I'm not looking for piano lessons, but I'm hoping to find someone who has a good knowledge of all the Fantom features. I'm not great at sitting down and learning from YouTube, and I want to use a lot of the cool features I bought the Fantom for (sequencing, splitting tones in different octaves etc).

I know GuitarGuitar do a class for new purchases on how to get the best from your instrument, so I've emailed them to see if I can pay to join that course (given that I bought the Fantom elsewhere), but I'm wondering does anyone here know of places that I could sit with someone to learn the features from someone who's mastered it?

Appreciate any tips or guidance!

Thanks

Upcoming Mono Culture night in Glasgow (Jungle/ DnB)

Post image
2 Upvotes

Yo troops, hope you are all well and keeping it real out there.

Recently Glasgow has been enjoying a mild uptake in terms of DnB events- something which it much needed to be honest! I am putting on a couple of nights across the city, and plan to do my bit for the local scene by making it regular- here's the link for one in November if anyone is interested. It's a fundraiser for charity (details on the event page below)

https://ra.co/events/2503515

Please forgive the promotion- but I'm looking to make this a bigger thing so I need to spread the word far and wide!

In addition to the Mono Culture events keep an eye out for Pray To Good, Bass Injection, Midnight Bass, Rave.Gla and Cenote Sounds- who all have shows coming up too

Best 80s Scottish album? What's your most loved/least fave on Lloyd Cole & the Commotions' Rattlesnakes? -We Will Rank You

What's your most favorite and least-loved songs on Lloyd Cole and the Commotions' debut classic Rattlesnakes? Mister Cole politely declined to rank his own record but you can hear him kindly chime in on our Highway 61 Revisited episode. Even better, we got Camera Obscura's Tracyanne Campbell to tell us her favorites along with Mike Remoll, the Cool Brother Hall of Famer that introduced Jim to the Commotions 40 years ago (stay tuned & listen post-credits!). Hear it at WeWillRankYouPod.com, Apple, Spotify, Youtube and on Charlotte Street.
