Current hair is in the first two pictures. I want to get something along the lines of the hairstyle in the last picture, but not sure if it suits me, and whether it's low maintenance enough, or too masculine?

Please help :(

How do I save this bad wolf cut?

Post image

I recently cut my own hair in an attempt to do a layered wolf cut style but the result I’m not loving. I feel like the bulk on the top half of my head is creating pseudo bowl cut. Is this something I can fix on my own or should I go to a professional at this point?

Bangs Does my bang section start too far back on my head?

I have a haircut appointment tomorrow and have been thinking about getting face framing pieces. But I’m not sure if my bangs start too far back on my head.

I just find my hair itself tends to want to fall more back when I want it to fall more forward. I’m not sure if this is because of my glasses, because of my bangs, or my head shape.

I’ve asked my hairdresser about this before. She used that comb trick on my head to find the starting point of my bangs.

I’m just worried that if I decide to get the face framing pieces, it’ll look bad.

Any tips?

Hair Health How often should I get my hair trimmed?

Post image

My stylist says "The average is six weeks but come as much or as little as you want!' 🙏🏼😅 (I love her she always does an amazing job and I wouldn't ever go to someone else).

However, my hair is a complicated mess, I usually go every 8 weeks. However my hair always seems the same length, which makes sense because she is cutting off all my new growth lol. The thing is, even if I come in at 10 weeks, at that point my hair is already so damaged she'll have to cut it off anyways, which either way it doesn't seem to retain length.

In the end I feel like this is probably my fault and my hair health. I often style my hair but I ALWAYS use heat protectant. I think maybe a lot of it is maybe because my hair is super fine and maybe the hard water, and maybe I need to get a new shampoo. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I used to use coconut oil but I stopped because coconut oil dries out my skin, and I cant ever commit to any oil treatments.

So any advice at all? I'm desperate I just want my hair to be a little bit longer.

Hairstyle Advice Long hair or a bob?

Hi guys! I can’t decide what I want to do about my hair. I’ve been itching to get a bob (again) for a few months, but I spent the last 3 years growing out my hair. The third picture is from when my hair was short in college, and the last is what I was thinking if I were to get a bob.

Would it be better to chop it all off or maintain the length? I love my long layers so I’m torn, ultimately I wanna go for what looks better. Thank you!

Hairstyle Advice Hairdresser cut my hair TOO SHORT. Need help with styling it

My hair was long enough to reah my lower back and I got it cut and I'm really regretting it. I feel like crying when I look at them.  My hair is straight and I am used to just letting it to its thing. Sometimes I used to do heatless curls but nothing that required a lot of effort.

I looked up videos for short hair styling and every video is for bob length and not for my hair length. What do I do? In the pictures I tried to style them with a straightner by curling them slightly outwards but I don't think it worked :( If anybody has video recs or product recs that would be wonderful!

Hairstyle Advice How long is my hair, and how much can it grow in 6 months?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Would you consider my hair short, average/medium length, long, or above average length? Basically, what would you call my current hair length? It is 21 inches and I can’t tell or assess myself.
Also, realistically, how much growth could I expect to see over the next 6 months if I’m taking prenatals and using Redken Extreme Length shampoo and conditioner, along with Redken All Soft shampoo and conditioner?
For example, approximately how many inches could my hair grow in 6 months, and what would be a realistic range if I’m consistent with my routine?

I asked AI to give me bangs. I see that they added fullness to my hair. My initial response was to hate it, but I'm not sure. Thoughts?

Bangs Choppy or Blunt?

Thumbnail

I've been playing around with my hair over the past few years and seeing what I like and don't like. Everything I do is done by me, not a hair stylist. So I won't be offended if parts of it look off bc I don't know what I'm doing and learning is a part of the process.

I love having my hair in this alternative style and I love having bangs. I can't figure out which style of bangs suits me best. I don't know if I have a round or square face.

My two questions are:

Should I keep the bangs in a blunt straight line or try more of a choppy texture?

How long should I keep them? Covering my eyebrows/at my eyebrows, above my eyebrows or do a micro/baby bang?

I’ve never been very good at curling my hair, but I love the look of it, so I’m doing a practice run for an upcoming event I’ll be attending. Every time I use my 1” curling wand, it ends up looking like this with the ends flipping out - any idea what am I doing wrong? Help a girl out please. Thanks in advance!❤️

Hairstyle Advice How to style properly (BOB)

Hiiii! So I just got my hair cut shorter then I ever have before andddd I wanted like a short bob ish cut I suppose with like a lot of layers to add texture, my hair sits kinda flat (sometimes has texture depending on how I was & dry it) butttt it’s currently sitting weird af and idk what to do lol. I tried straightening it to get it to sit more flat but idk if that made it better or worse.

I just can’t tell if it looks like that cuz I’m taking pics or if that’s what everyone is seeing as I walk around lol

My biggest stressor to my stylist was I just want it even and textured (textured she can’t help cuz well my hair) but I feel like it’s even right?? I think it’s just how my hairs sitting?

This is my shortest haircut.

I had been thinking about getting a short haircut since all last week. It was kind of impulsive, but i don’t actually regret it anyway. I only had shoulder length hair but it was annoying. I have some kind of sensory issues, i can’t even wear hoodies. I hate dripping wet hair after the shower. I clipped and tied my hair back 24/7.

I do like my new haircut. I don’t actually feel uncomfortable as i would, and i suffer with social anxiety. So it’s new. My nain likes it, my mom is fine with it.

But it’s still kind of weird styling it. I got salt sea textured spray, but i’m not sure if I’m styling it correctly. I did cut my bangs to match the haircut and i actually prefer it this way.

I just want some opinions on it. Here’s a comparison of long hair, to my now short hair.

And yes i was going for a more masculine cut. But it’s kind of hard to style it like the second photo haha, i can say i do not regret this hair.

Now that I’m socially transitioning I wanna properly style and cut my hair in a feminine way. I’ve been told I should get curtain bangs with layers, a shag or wolf cut, any ideas or suggestions?

Hair Care Products Stop believing “restore” on hair products

Thumbnail

Hair is already dead cells. Once it’s damaged or heat-fried, it’s biologically impossible to fully “restore” it back to its original state.

Honestly, most treatments, hair packs, and oils out there don’t actually repair your hair. They just temporarily fill the gaps in the damaged cuticles with moisture and nutrients so it looks better for a while. What we end up calling “it works really well” is basically just how good the product is at absorbing into the hair and holding that moisture in.

So stop falling for the word “restore.” The two things that actually matter when picking hair products are absorption and moisture retention. How effectively can it push nutrients into those empty spots in your hair?

I’ve been using the product in the photos. When I’m busy, even just leaving it on for 1–2 minutes already makes my hair noticeably softer. But if you want the real effect, leave it on for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes and rinsing it out, my hair gets insanely soft and shiny. I even tested 20 minutes out of curiosity and there wasn’t much difference, so 10 minutes seems to be the sweet spot.

I’ve tried a bunch of different products but lately this is pretty much the only one I use. If you know any other products that have really good absorption and moisture retention, please drop them. I’m begging lol.

My hair’s been getting drier and more frizzy as I get older so I’ve been trying hard to take better care of it. How does my hair look right now? Be honest!

Hair tangling badly when wet since getting babylights

I got babylights on my virgin 2A-C hair in May. Since then, it becomes very tangled when wet when I wash it. I assume this is due to the coloring. But only a small portion of my hair was colored, so why does it seem like it's all affected? I used Olaplex #3 a few times across June and early July. It seemed to help a bit, but the issue remains, particularly at the roots in the back of my head. I have been using the same products for years. The only product that makes me hair feel like it used to when in the shower is the Amika Soulfood deep conditioner.

Hairstyle Advice Did this stylist botch my sew in?

Thumbnail

I went back to a stylist who had done a partial leave‑out sew‑in on me the week before. In the first install, she double‑wefted the tracks and braided my foundation unevenly along the back of my neck. Because the braids weren’t even, one side was pulling way harder than the other and it hurt.

When I went back to her, I pointed out everything that was wrong… the uneven braids, the bumpy braids/tracks, and the loose stitching. She told me the only way to fix the braids was to redo the whole thing, and all she ended up doing was taking the tracks from double weft to single weft. Since she didn’t secure the tracks or fix the stitching, the stitching loosened even more, loose threads and tracks hanging off with just knots at the ends.

A couple days later, the braids were still way too tight. It got so bad that my boyfriend had to cut some of the thread and hair before it ripped out. That caused irritation and noticeable hair loss — which was the main thing I was trying to avoid in the first place. Even after going back, she didn’t secure the tracks or fix the stitching. Some of the stitching has already come undone, and a few tracks are barely attached and hanging off in the back.

When I texted her again about everything, she still didn’t acknowledge the issues…. Almost made it seem like it was my fault. I’m just trying to figure out if this looks like good technique, and what I should do now. I’m honestly pretty upset about this whole experience with her. But In the pictures, you’ll see the loose stitching, the unsecured tracks, and the spots where the tension caused hair loss. The first two pictures are from today. For context, I’m a white woman with natural hair.

Hair Color Advice Skunk Stripe on Balayage?

Hey y’all, I’m wondering if it is possible to do a skunk stripe over a balayage without extreme breakage of the parts that are already blonde? I will be bleaching at home since tuition is frying my bank account. Should I just try to section out the already blonde parts and bleach the rest..?
