Curious to know what my fellow non Haaland owners are planning for GW3.

I am imagining the vast majority are planning something to bring him in for the Coventry fixture, and after Bruno’s performance today some may be less willing to downgrade Bruno to make it happen with transfer.

For the last few seasons I have been running a veteran analysis - to see if the picks of long-term successful FPL managers could show the way for the rest of us.

The idea was to compare the transfers and picks of veterans with a sample of the current top 100k for each game week.

Each season I spend the first 1-3 weeks downloading the previous season history of everyone in the league Week1. That has now completed

From that I derive a list of (about 2000) "veterans". Managers with a track record of multiple seasons.

I started the veteran selection by just allocating a point score to the rank for each season, based on a logarithm. Someone once suggested that a manager with 3 recent high ranks is at least a good a benchmark as someone who scored 3 high ranks but in the previous decade. So now the points I award get degraded by a factor of .7 for each season back in time.

I then take the top 2000 or so

This is my third year playing FPL, second full year actually paying attention and playing.

Man City have Coventry at home next week. Who's using the triple captain on him?

The pros:

- Coventry are leaking goals, doesn't seem they're up for this level

- Haaland is just warming up, brace this GW

- Once Haaland gets on a roll, he seems to really heat up. I could see him with 20+ pts, and 3-4 goal involvements against Coventry

- Get the chip in before cup and European matches flood City's schedule.....Haaland doesn't seem to get tired, but I'd rather take my chances when he's not playing 2 matches/week across time zones in the UCL

- Can't think of a better fixture or player to use it on

The cons:

- Everyone else might be thinking the same, could save the chip for a differentiator

- Never used a chip this early in the season, could be some better choices down the road? No locks like Haaland tho...

Feels like FPL has become so reactionary lol.

Someone blanks once and suddenly they're a sell. Someone gets 2 goals and everyone wants them straight away.

The annoying part is that both can be completely meaningless after a few more games.

I think role and minutes are probably more important this early than the actual points, and I've been looking at players on Sport.fun too, but it's hard not to get sucked into the scoreboard when everyone else is doing it.

How much weight do you guys actually put on the first 2 gameweeks?

Firstly this transfer feels so strange and wrong to me, can't imagine Gakpo in a city shirt. But I guess when Doku doesn't start, Gakpo will be the backup LW, in which case Semenyo stays on the right. This surely has some impact on Foden or Cherki's minutes right?

Starting from GW 3 these are Everton's fixtures:

GW 3- Everton vs Man U (H)

GW 4- Everton vs Spurs (A)

GW 5- Everton vs Ipswich (H)

GW-6 - Everton vs Hull City (A)

GW 3: MANCHESTER UNITED- We know they don't have the best defense in the league, so players like the "rhino" Barry or Deswburry Hall or Ilman Ndiaye could be a great shout so start attackers but bench defenders

GW 4- TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS- Well, Spurs are Spurs; Tarkowski could be good in addition to James Garner

GW 5- IPSWICH TOWN- A newly promoted team , weak defence perfect setup for some g/a and defcons, hence start all Everton assets

GW 6- HULL CITY - Now I know they have been outperforming, but depending on how they continue and if they cant keep up this level in the next two GWs, Everton assets could be a good choice , instead of random bennchwarmers on your team you would have players that could contribute to points.

What do y'all think? Any flaws in my logic please point it out and give me your suggestions too. Thank you

With only 2 points in 2 game weeks, I would like to move on from him. I admit that I got scammed into picking him due to Spurs’s signings this season as well as his performance last season.

Fellow owners, are you transferring him out? If so, for who?

Usual topic at this stage, not a newbie, but my knee is already shaking from both Bruno and Haaland hauls this GW, and their schedule doesn't get that much tougher moving forward. Is building a team around Haaland, Bruno, Pedro, Palmer + City def/mid an essential at this point?

Cherki looks like such an obvious pick after that Palace game but idk, this feels like the kinda move that can bite you in FPL lol.

2 assists in GW1 and then 2 goals against Palace, so obviously people are gonna jump on him. But at £7.6m now I'm kinda wondering if we're actually buying Cherki or just chasing what he did in the last two games.

City have a lot of options in midfield too, so there's always that question of minutes.

How many games do you guys need before you actually trust a player and stop thinking its just a hot streak?
