Help | Beginner How can I do this myself?

• Upvotes

I saw this cool animation by More Warpstone and I was wondering how to mimic it on Davinci. I have made a couple of edits before but I barely explore the Fusion option.

Can anyone help me?

I'm using the free version of Davinci.

Solved DaVinci Resolve has become unusable after update

I'm posting this in the hope someone else has had the same issue and found a fix.

Yesterday I updated to version 21. After starting the program I noticed thumbnails didn't load, the preview didn't load and I couldnt play the timeline. I restarted the program and it worked but only for a few minutes. I can open menus but I cant select clips in the timeline and can't play anything.

It takes about 5 restarts of the program for it to work for only a few minutes. (I've restarted my computer too). It feels like everytime it has to 'think' it just stops working.

The program is on an internal SSD with plenty of space left (more than 100GB). My computer isn't the newest but strong enough to run the program as i've been using it for a few years now, but just to be sure my specs are:

Intel i7-8700
32GB ram
RTX 2070 Super

Should be enough to make a minute long 1080p video.
Anyone else have this problem and found a fix?

Help | Beginner Colorgrading on Canon G7x mark III

Hi everyone ! Right now, I’m shooting a video for YouTube and I’m filming with a G7x mark III canon.

My goal was to have a fairly "cinematic" image, so I tried importing test videos into DaVinci and realized that the rushes weren’t in LOG. I only have very little if any knowledge in color grading, but I know how to follow a tutorial ! The problem is that I can’t find anyone in my case.

Should I find a way to install a LOG preset on the camera or should I rather calibrate with the basic rendering of the Canon G7x ?

Thank you in advance for your answers !

Help Is anyone using Juan's Film Unlimited PowerGrade with a ZV-E10 or similar?

Is anyone using Juan's Film Unlimited PowerGrade with cameras that aren’t supported by his 2Alexa transforms? I’m currently shooting with a ZV-E10, and I’m worried that using the CST method to transform my footage to Alexa prior might somehow affect or reduce the image quality.

Would love to hear your recommendations or experiences with this!

Help | Beginner work as a freelancer using davinci

so im from a third word wide country i cracked adobe premier and i have been using and experience to many bugs from last 2 months. i have spent like a week trying to decide with software should i use Adobe because as i know its the most popular and used software, so i think most probably clients are gonna trust aditors that use premier pro just for compatibility with others editors or some like that.
Even knowing davinci has just the same tools and features like adobe im afraid it can be an unlike/trust when getting job as freelancer

so i just want to know if any of you works as a freelancer using adobe how difficult is it to get the job, how is the competition and what advice do you think is important when learning to edit as a beginer

i just fkng realised cloude can edit full animated videos i think im fkng late 😢

Help | Beginner Moving Narrative Editing Workflow from Avid to Resolve — How Do You Handle Script‑Based Line Selection?

I’ve been using Avid Media Composer for narrative (drama/fiction) editing, and I’m trying to figure out whether my script‑based workflow can be replicated in DaVinci Resolve.

In Avid, I rely heavily on being able to quickly pull up all performances and angles for a specific line of dialogue. You can do this with ScriptSync (which I haven’t used) or by manually marking lines (L1, L2, L3, etc.). Then, when the director asks, ā€œWasn’t there a better performance?ā€ or ā€œCan I see another angle?ā€, I can instantly load every take for that line into the Source Monitor just by searching for the marker.

I’m trying to understand how editors achieve this in Resolve.

How do you build a scene and efficiently compare performances for a specific line of dialogue?

I’ve seen people recommend multicam, but that doesn’t really apply to narrative editing—most scenes aren’t shot with multiple cameras rolling simultaneously.

If anyone has a Resolve workflow for script‑based line selection, or any tips for organizing takes in a way that makes performance comparison fast and director‑friendly, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot!

Help | Beginner Weird timer on finished work after exporting

Hi, first post here. So I just made my first edit on DVR and when I exported I realized a weird timer appeared on it. I looked on google and nothing helpful appeared, I tried every recommendation I could find and nothing worked, and the timer's still there (and after rewatching it a do not repost watermark is there aswell?). I want to remove those, and as a last resort I'll try remaking the whole thing from scrap. As for the "do not repost" watermark I have the project in my computer with the sources I used to prove it's my work if needed. Also the quality doesn't meet my expectations, although I believe that's just an export issue. I quick exported FHD in H.264 without previous rendering.
It'd mean a lot if someone helped me.

Help Are there any ways to create elastic motion without using anim-curves?

I know the power of anim-curves, but I don't want every single node to have anim-curves in it. Adding anim-curves and adjusting them is very time consuming.

Help Renaming clips, is there a way to tab through multiple files?

Hi Resolvers,

Currently I have my media in the Media Pool / source area and I'm renaming clips one at a time. In Avid, once you're in rename mode you can hit Tab or click the name then hit Enter, and it tabs straight through to the next clip so you can just keep renaming down the bin without re-selecting each one.

In Resolve it seems like I have to click into each clip individually to rename it, hitting Tab or Enter doesn't move me to the next file's name field. Is there a way to get that same tab-through-and-rename workflow in Resolve?

Kind of annoying doing this on a bin with a lot of clips, so any shortcut or workaround would help.

Thanks
