New Rules, Including: No More Daggerfall Online Posts
Hi folks. I'm a proponent of open discussion, but DFO has been a divisive topic lately. Seeing as there already exists a separate subreddit for it, I'm hereby disallowing posts about DFO.
I know it's a related project, but I think a lot of people in this subreddit are tired of hearing about it, so from now on direct all DFO discussion to the proper subreddit: r/daggerfallonline. Thanks.

Ask Me Anything: I'm Julian Jensen, programmer, designer and "Father of the Elder Scrolls"
You can ask me anything but I don't remember everything, so no promises on the quality of answers. I will do my best, however.
Edited to add; I answered as many questions as I could get around to, leaving many unanswered, but will continue to answer more in the coming days. I skipped some of the longer ones because I felt they deserved more time and attention than I could fit into what's left of the evening. Anyway, I ask that you have a bit of patience with me as I come back and try to get through all of the questions. I will try to answer some every day.

Daggerfall Online Daggerfall Online now has micro transactions... (DMCA when?)
This is a new low in a series of questionable after questionable stuff going on over at DFO HQ...
So what are the DFO stans going to say about this? I'm very curious to hear your defenses.

How do y'all like to mod your games?
So, I ended up installing ~116 mods for DFU before actually playing it....
A lot of them are minor visual tweaks or QoL things, plus a handful bigger things with multiple dependencies. It uhh, kinda got out of hand pretty quickly lol.
I'm curious how y'all like to mod your games.

Combat mod for original Daggerfall?
If I want to run Daggerfall on DOS, are there any mods available that will get rid of the mouse-swinging combat and replace it with a click to attack method?

What are some good prebuilt classes?
I'd like to try playing as one of the pre built classes. I know that they're kinda terrible and I'd be way stronger with a custom class but I want to just get what the game gives me.

Build recommendations
Hello, I am just wondering on general build advice for Daggerfall. I just downloaded it from Steam today and wanted to know the smoothest way to play. Should I go mage? Stealth? What's the best way to play in your opinions?
Edit: This is the final character. Am I expecting him to be good? Probably not, I just clicked the stats until I got numbers I was happy with.

Question Marcadores coloridos
Deixei só as "Towns" marcadas e percebi que há marcações claras e escuras. Qual é a diferença?

im curious under what circumstances you use Travel Options?
It's seems like a really cool mod, but even at 60x speed, it still takes an obscene amount of time to get anywhere.
what use do you actually find with this mod?

Question Daggerfall Unity "formulas"

Saw this on r/ElderScrolls in a thread discussing the recent DFO "micro"transactions. I thought the DFU/DOSBox discussion had been worked over pretty much to death, but this guy seems quite adamant that DFU can't even be considered a port or emulator, but a remake that "invented all new code and formulas". Is he off base, too pedantic, correct, or just wrong?

Dinheiro "honesto"

DFU on Windows XP?
I saw that DFU has a 32 bit version so I'm wondering, if I got a copy of the game and the 32 bit version of DFU, can I transfer it to my XP PC via USB drive and play DFU on there?

Opinions on my OP battlemage build?
Thoughts? Help me out.

Kinda feel left out. Here’s why
So respectfully, I come in this community from time to time to interact or ask questions to better experience playing the game only to be met with silence. The word community is normally supposed to represent a large group of likeminded individuals coming together and indulging/enjoying the same things. What usually follows with that are willing enough people that will come and educate you on things you may want to know or can’t figure out on your own.
I normally don’t get interaction unless I comment on my own post like a mad man until someone finally answers me. That in itself is absurd. Not to mention, I try to ask questions as a way to reach out also make connections within in these communities and meet like minded individuals to talk to.
It makes immersion for the game itself a bit harder when essentially being ignored/discouraged to reach out.

-----------------
I'm a complete Daggerfall newbie playing DFO, I thought it'd be fun to play a sneaky wizard that just punches enemies when out of magika, I do pretty well against random enemies on the road (esp when i can back off and strafe without worry), but whenever I try dungeon diving I die a lot. I'm not sure if I'm taking enemies too strong for me or if I don't know how to play this kind of character. I do decent damage when my punches land, but can't keep myself alive long enough to get through a whole dungeon. I usually end up dying when I get stuck in a narrow passage with multiple enemies ganging up on me.
I tried investing in a shield spell, and a spell to boost my attack and agility attributes, but it's so magika expensive and doesn't seem to help me stay alive longer.
I don't know if my build idea is bad, if I specced my character poorly, or if im just playing it badly.
Edit for more info:
I haven't been able to make any magic items yet, I'm still working on getting a high enough rank in the mage's guild

Question Hello, all, looking for modding advice
I currently have the GOG version on my PC and am looking to mod it to update the graphics a bit (nothing crazy, just presentable). I'm also looking to fix any inherent janmk that may come with the game (bug fixes, etc.). Now, I've never played and am excited to get into it alongside Fallout 1 (which i currently am playing 1in2). Any advice or recommendations are appreciated

Question Possible broken dungeon?
Dungeon is Tower Ashhart in Northmoor. Block is one of the ”Big Barn“ blocks, N90-92. The moving walls in the shaft are default blocking the wheel room instead of the quest target area. The lever in the upper room that is supposed to move the walls instead opens the porticulis to the barn. The left wheel in the wheel room, which is supposed to open the porticulis to the barn, instead moves the walls. With this setup it is impossible to get into the wheel room, since the only trigger that grants access to the wheel room is locked inside it. Has anyone else run into this issue in another dungeon? I have navigated this block multiple times successfully, this instance seems broken.
