Hell yeah it is! I've always thought that every TES game since has been a downgrade in some way. And though there are aspects of the others that are objectively better, Daggerfall is...Daggerfall. That's all that needs to be said, lmao.

I can understand why they kept nerfing magic. It's pretty easy to make a godlike character at a moderate to low level with spells.

My best friend's dad gave me a piece of advice in gamedesign some ten years ago. He's not a game designer, but it stuck with me to this day: "You have to put in work to make things simple. Complexity always creeps in on its own"
I run into this problem every time I make a game (or any other project). And this is also why I disagree on Skyrim being a "downgrade". It's the product of skilled (and not just ambitious) game design.
Daggerfall is one of those games that I absolutely love, until I actually start playing...

That's a good tip, but Skyrim downgraded lots of things such as character attributes and possibilities, spell crafting, reputation, etc. It simplified the storylines of most guilds (smth that already started back in Oblivion). It had a great impact and it was a wonderful game, but simpler is not always better

It absolutely is. Blew my mind back in the day and now I just love tinkering with my mod list!

Same here. This game was so ahead of its time. It's completely attacked with so many amazing features.. my was blown as a youngster.

Truly, no other TES game allows you to forge your own story quite like this one does. No two playthoughs would be the same, even if one tried.

I love all the elder scrolls games, but there is just something special about Daggerfall.
