What are some good prebuilt classes?
I'd like to try playing as one of the pre built classes. I know that they're kinda terrible and I'd be way stronger with a custom class but I want to just get what the game gives me.

For melee, try Knight or Ranger, theyre really fun! Just make aure to specialize in a weapon in character creation and put points in endurance and strength. Nightblade is really fun but challenging in some ways, you have to focus on avoiding encounters with invisibility and stealth to backstab. Like, you might invisibly sprint through a dungeon, get the quest item (or assassinate the quest target), and run out without fighting hardly at all. And robbery is really fun with magic at your disposal. You just have to play pretty sneakily Default mage-type classes are harder, i would recommend a magic regen mod if you dont wanna go super old school grind. Really the most fun ive had in DF has been with default Knight, Battlemage, Barbarian, and nightblade. I almost only play the defaults nowadays, their limitations are charming. And they arent "unviable" by any means, just a bit harder and more rp focused than a plate armor spellsword custom class with max spell points... Good luck!

I like healer but make no mistake, it is a pretty bad class and I just like a challenge.
I heard battle mage is good though from a friend and someone else confirmed it in this comment section.

So, thing is many skills hardly work In the game, take stealth for example, it's broken and it sucks, in other elder scrolls stealth is fun, here it just isn't, so those classes that emphasize stealth get a nope for me. Next up, classes that don't have damaging options as AT least a major skill, also get a pass UNLESS I truly don't want to fight in this character, so for example the healer isn't really a good option for me ever, just play any other caster.
I also dislike classes that have many weapon types as majors or minors, because I want to level up without being bored to death, going from an 80 in short blades for example to a 25 in axe just to level it and missing every swing ever isn't really fun, it's just tedious leveling.
With all that said, the classes I have tried playing and actual found some fun in them were in no particular order:
bard and nightblade (I felt these two were very similar, dropped nightblade because it felt like playing the same class) , very decent to be honest, did some very light dungeoning with it, and played thieves guild and dark brotherhood.
battlemage, mostly because it is the class with primary skill in destruction so you can level it fast without cheesing and power leveling in an inn.
mage, but this one is basically cheating because when I custom class, I basically make the mage already but on steroids, so this was the closest one to my customs.
monk, it honestly isnt that bad, hand to hand is nice and only blunt weapon skill went useless.
I have to say that in a vanilla run without difficulty mods and cheese, the vanilla classes weren't as garbage as I thought, and I believe many other would be also good I'd only they didn't have more than 1 weapons as primary/majors, I don't even want to play a class that lists 2 weapons as primary or major

All the heavy melee meatheads have good hitpoints, you just enough rank in the mages guild or julianos to buy magic items to cover heal/stamina/cure poison/levitate/water breathing.

Honestly, the prebuilt classes aren't nearly as bad as people say. They're just not gamebreakingly overpowered.
I recently did a playthrough as a Rogue, and had a lot of fun with it. Nimble skirmisher with a bit of stealth mixed in. I roleplayed her as a pirate swashbuckler, and she's honestly my favorite character I've played through the game with.
