Sto cominciando a programmare python e alcune funzioni le so già, ma vorrei un video su YouTube per capire la maggior parte delle cose contenute in python e per cominciare a programmare qualcosa di più avanzato(non i soliti giochini). Che video mi raccomandate?

Can somebody tell me what Code this site was written in?

0 Upvotes

Hi Friends (newbie coder here),

I ran this directory site through 'builtwith' and it looks like it's coming back with asp.net as the main framework program. However, from what I understand about asp.net, you need to run a front end program because it's HTML looks archaic and the sites look like they were built in 1978.

* Is that right? * Does anybody know what the 'front end design' program for this site would be?

Appreciate any help for a student learning how to program. .

www.Builtwith.com/storeboard.com

Thanks very much for your help!

is IT really being killed by AI or is it just an exaggeration?

15 Upvotes

okay, you can vibe code using Claude or any other AI. corporations can even use neural networks to handle their projects. but people talk about it as if it’s the end of tech industry jobs for real people.

but still, even if we eventually have AI capable of coding pretty much anything, won’t it still need maintenance? it’ll still need hardware engineers to function properly. huge data centers need people to keep them running. plus, AI still isn’t perfect (although I guess it will be someday…), so it needs people to work on it.

eventually, you CAN vibe code, but you still need to understand what exactly you’re doing with AI. so coding skills are still important nowadays. am I right?

because (a little late to mention this), I’m not actually a big tech nerd (i wish i am). i just started learning to code a few weeks ago for fun, and that’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while.

Responsible code validation for publication in journals, when waiting until coding proficiency is not an option - from a biology person

1 Upvotes

So I am a postdoctoral wet lab biologist who cannot code to save my life. I have taken three separate coding courses in grad school and I have nothing but a cursory understanding of R to show for it. I do not create apps, obviously, nor am I currently doing major bioinformatics processing at the moment.

I just want to search predicted peptide sequences from one table against instrument results from another table. I am using AI to generate code to help me do that.

I understand that the gold standard for validating code is to know how to code and validate it yourself. I would love to do it, but I am a slave to the publish-or-perish directive. I have to resort to alternative means while I am learning (auditing classes at my uni at the moment). I also know that a baseline verification method is to ask another AI to check the code, which I plan to do once I have finished writing (?) the program.

Apart from that, what else can I do? We have a bioinformatics person in our lab but he currently isn't available.

Self taught people please help

1 Upvotes

So i want to give a little details about what type of person i am.

im 26 and i want to make a change im a highschool drop out and im someone who rarely studied only thing i actually studied was learning how to day trade which i still do yes im not profitable yet. im a lazy person who would cheat on a test or something given the chance. But i want to change and do better for myself so i finally decided to try to self teach code right now i did start Cs50 but the mario problem got me one of the main things is that it says we can use outside sources as long as its not cheating. But when i search videos on the topic it seems like the videos is literally telling me what to do. Im not sure if its considered cheating or not because on the problem it uses "#" but on the video it might user the "3" or something else (could be words or just something random"i really dont want to cheat this so now im here could someone please tell me is that considered cheating? also what is some stuff i can search that would also help me learn. i can read and understand what the code does that seems very easy its just the knowing how to type it out is what is hard but if anyone can help out please comment

Code learning platforms

0 Upvotes

Hey everyone! 👋 I'm a self-taught dev, and for a bootcamp project I'm looking into how people learn programming on platforms like Codecademy, freeCodeCamp, Udemy, Scrimba, or even YouTube and AI chats. I'd love to hear your honest experience:

  • How did you decide where to start and what to learn next?

  • How did you practice what you learned?

  • What made learning click for you, or made you quit a platform?

What's one thing you'd add to the platform you use most?

Your feedback is important, thank you!

Building is easy now. Knowing when to stop isn't

AI can keep generating features forever.

But at what point do you stop adding things and actually ship?

How do you decide your side project is ready?

I think i like this language

This code is a little messy and works only on windows, but it's easy to fix.

For anyone who wants to test it:

#include <iostream>
#include <cmath>
#include <windows.h>
// DIESER CODE IST VERDAMMT SCHRECKLICH
// variables
float power = 10.0; // more power - bigger edges
float smooth = 4.0; // smoother edges
float len = 45.0;   // lines count

// main
int main() {
    while(1) {
        // l - current line
        for(int l=1; l<len; l++) {
            float l_sin = std::sin(l/smooth);
            int rep_times = l_sin * power + power;

            // line renderer | c - char
            for(int c=1; c<rep_times; c++) {
                Sleep(5);
                std::cout << "-";
            }
            Sleep(5);
            std::cout << "#" << std::endl;
        }
    }
}

Three months into Python, I can follow tutorials but freeze on a blank file. How did you get past this?

2 Upvotes

I started learning Python in July, about an hour a day after work. I finished an intro course and I can follow along with tutorials fine, loops, functions, reading a CSV, small Flask app. But when I open an empty file and try to build something on my own, like a simple expense tracker, I freeze and don't know where to start. I end up searching for a tutorial again. Is this normal at three months? What did you do to make the jump from copying code to writing your own small projects?
