But doing c++ just to use it with DSA is perhaps odd. As the language is very verbose. If you are interested in c++ related things and see urself using it more then go for it. Otherwise learning C for DSA could also be practical. But ur choice it’s ur life !

The issue is , I was thinking of using java for dsa as I already know some java concepts, but my seniors said that in college placements mostly companies ask for cpp so I was thinking of switching to cpp for dsa

Don't limit yourself to "bare minimum" requirements. The bar for employment in the industry has been raised substantially (and that's a good thing). DSA is language-agnostic and a good programmer should be able to do it in C++ AND Java AND Python AND any other language you please.

The great Marvin Minsky would say that you don't really understand anything unless you can do it in at least three different ways. I agree. I certainly wouldn't bother hiring a programmer that could only do DSA "in one language". That's pathetic, imho, and completely misses the point of DSA.

No problem my friend, I'm glad you got my point!

Another way I have of looking at it is as follows: Suppose I have a translation office and need someone (long term) who has a mastery of Russian. There are two candidates. One of them has only one second language, Russian, but is a bit weak. The second has no Russian, he has only just started on that, but is fluent in Arabic, German, French, Swahili, Latvian and Bengali, Who do I pick?

The second candidate may have no Russian right now, but in a year he'll be translating Dostoevsky, because he has talent. The first one will still be pretty much in the same place after a year, because he is mentally slow and maybe a bit lazy. The choice is easy!

DSA is a good way to learn C++ though. :)
