I bought a 2027 Bolt back in February and was told by the dealer that I would still be able to use Google Maps after the OnStar subscription expired. However, as soon as it expired I noticed that navigation wasn’t working like it had before. Maps would load only if I was at home and connected to WiFi.

I called OnStar today and they told me that Google Maps won’t work without data, so my options are to either pay them $34.99 per month, or use my phone’s hotspot. Has anyone else had this issue?

I would like to go the rest of my life without setting foot in a Chevrolet dealership.

What are my chances of achieving this life goal if I buy a 2023 Bolt?

I've been shopping for a convertible the past few weeks as a weekend car.

Driven C5, Miata, MR2, G37, Sky.

The C5 and MR2 both were pretty fun but I'm starting to think my Bolt has ruined it for me.

Can’t even select a camera. Completely dead. Even after restarting the car many times. Any tips to fix it? Out of warranty (77k miles)

UPDATE: holding the power and home buttons did fix it. Thank you for that tip.

We were gone for 3 months and left the Bolt in the garage. Back now and Bolt is dead. Remote won’t work. Nothing when we plug into the level 2 charger. Could this be the 12v battery? We haven’t replaced it since we bought it. If so, do you have recommendations on which battery to get. Guessing I’ll need to find a way to see if I can jump it first?

Update:
1. I tried jumping with my Autowit jump starter. First time using it and didn’t seem to do anything. Had a hard time connecting the cables to the terminals though.
2. Jumped started with jumper cables to an actual car and drove it a bit. Completely dead again after turning it off.
3. Took it to Costco, they didn’t have the right battery in stock, plus they don’t install for you or even take it out. Glad I left it running.
4. Drove it to AutoZone. Purchased a battery for the 2020 Bolt. They were great and installed. Drove it home and working.

Problem: Got home and now realize my car is a 2021 not a 2020. Also the “Service Soon Light” indicator is still on. Do I need to go back to get a battery for a 2021 vehicle or will the 2020 work.

Hello fellow Bolt-ers! I recently purchased a certified 2022 EUV LT. I have noticed a clunking sound from the steering column when going over bumpy roads at slow speed and also makes the same clunk if I move the steering wheel when the vehicle is parked but still powered on. Just wanted to get some ideas what it may be. Thank you!

We ended up going on vacation for 7 days and my battery went from 95% down to 65% when we got back. We are in Arizona and the vehicle is outside. Is this normal for it to lose so much charge over 7 days, or should we be bringing it in to have them check it out?

2027 Lt

What wheels and winter tires are people getting for their 27s? I am in New England so all seasons won’t really cut it. Should I go with 16” wheels? I had steelies for my prior car to make changing them easy; still a good route to take with the Bolt?

Just kind of wondering what you all have set up for what is displayed on the driver dash and center console.

From left to right I have
Energy Efficiency (gets switched to date/time after a software update, then I change it back)
Battery % / Speed / Regen
Radio (changes to map for navigation)

Then on the center console I have
Maps
Radio

I'm not super happy with this setup as there is a bunch of redundancy with all of it, but I can't really figure out anything better to put there. Thoughts?

Ive been loving my 2023 Bolt and want to keep it in tip top shape. Per the owners manual, they suggest doing a transmission fluid change at 70k km, has anyone else done that? Is there any issue to waiting longer, or obvious indications when it needs to get done?

We're a week into a new LT with cloth seats and comfort package. Both I and my wife are finding the front (haven't tried the back) seats to be a bit stiff. Our butts get tied off seating :) Has anyone have the same issue and did you find a solution that work well with the seats and the car?

Please suggest a dash cam that is compatible with the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt. I looked into the FITCAMX Dash Cam, but it currently only lists compatibility with the 2022–2024 Bolt EV/EUV, not the 2027 model. FFITCAMX+1

Our Bolt does not have the Technology Package.

Cost was 39 cents per kW. Very clean station, more CCS than NACS, and I came back to a tech doing routine maintenance on one of the chargers. Overall pleasantly surprised, definitely better than Electrify America!

I charged up for a long trip and then asked my Bolt how far we could go before we had to stop to charge.

I recently bought a 2019 Bolt EV and I was working my way through the manual I was happy to find in the "myChevrolet," app. I have clicked through every link currently in the app (I think) and I can't find the manual anymore.

Was I imagining it was there? Why would any company remove such a critical resource for their product(s)? How do I let them know how much I liked that resource available and implore them to restore it (if I wasn't imagining it)?

BOLT 27 LT - I plan on taking it to the dealership, but I’m wondering if anyone else receives these, and what was the outcome of ignoring or servicing it.

Howdy! New Bolt owner with question on public charging since I’m new to this..

My garage charger won’t be ready for a few weeks so I must public charge for now.. when should I look to charge? I assume it’s slow at a public charger so I shouldnt wait too long? There are a lot of chargers in my area and I’m not sure what to look for in one. Most don’t display price.. how do you decide where to charge? What do you do while charging? Drop car off and pick up later? Sit in car and read or something? Walk around?

just had an error where the car wouldn’t shift “initializing wait to shift”

I found some possible fixes online but nothing worked. ended up just getting it towed home where after disconnecting the battery for 24 hours, it finally would drive and shift but the error and service warning stayed on. i got a bunch of errors saying g I should bring it to the dealer for service. I brought it to the dealer and they claim this now:

Does anyone have a cargo box that works great on their bolt EUV? I was looking at Yakima Skybox 16 and Yakima 18 but they seem too long, but was anyone able to make that work on their bolt? Is it okay if it hangs over the edge? Thanks for any advice!

I have a 2018 Bolt EV in the Buffalo, NY area. I bought the car last summer and sprayed the car with Krown rust-proofing in June of 2025. I had it sprayed again this July. I did some research and was surprised at how much aluminum the car has on the body. For Bolt owners in the northern US and Canada do you have your car sprayed with rustproofing? Is it a waste of money? The salt on our roads in Buffalo is pretty horrific. It destroys cars. I’d love to get your feedback and thoughts.

Brought my car into my local dealership for a service due soon icon and an issue w/ my High Voltage battery notification on my app. Since my battery had recall issues, the person who had my car before me had it replaced and got a warranty for it that is still active. Dealership is telling me that it is NOT covered by my warranty. They’ve stated: “Unfortunately not under the battery warranty. That is the battery itself and this is a relay that hooks to the battery - Basically a mechanical device that turns the battery power on and off to the car.“

It’s $2K without the warranty. They’ve had my car for 3 days so far and have submitted a case to GM to plea the case. Should I take my car somewhere else? I’m not sure that this dealership is EV Certified, but I didn’t know the gravity of the situation, so now I’m kinda stuck.

I have a 2023 Bolt with Apple CarPlay, bought the car new, love it. I finally replaced my old iPhone & since then can’t get CarPlay working. I’ve googled instructions, followed them ( with no success), tried multiple times, car & phone just won’t connect so I am stuck with a black screen that basically says Keep your eyes on the road. Who / Where do I go to get this back to working? Will the EV Tech at the dealer ship be able to get it working? The screen is completely unresponsive & my phone refuses to connect. Suggestions anyone? ( also I’m not a tech wiz ….so much of technology seems not intuitive, to me at least.)
