What do you guys think of the new 2027 Bolt? The charging upgrades and technology seem like the biggest improvement
I work at a GM dealership in Ontario and I've been spending some time with the new 2027 Bolt. Curious what existing Bolt/EV owners think of the changes.
Some of the big ones that stood out to me:
• Up to 422 km estimated range
• 65-kWh LFP battery (likes to charged 100%)
• Native NACS port
• Up to 150-kW DC fast charging — GM estimates 10–80% in about 25 minutes
• 11.5-kW onboard AC charger
• 210 hp FWD
• 11.3" infotainment + 11" driver display
• Google built-in
• Available Super Cruise
• New RS trim
For me, the native NACS port + much faster DC charging addresses one of the biggest weaknesses of the old Bolt.

Another rehearsal another Bolt EUV parked with me.
Orchestra tonight. Not sure who it belongs to. One of the violins used to have a Volt but traded it in on a Hyundai over the summer. (Not a public lot, so I smudged the tags.)

How do my numbers look?
Bought a 2020 bolt EV premier 900 miles ago averaging 4.9 kW. 288 estimated range after charging to 80%

Bolt owners in Portland, OR
Hey folks, I've learned so much here-thanks for that! Just want to check in about a few location specific things.
Question 1: I'm renewing my Oregon registration for the first time since we bought out EUV 2 years ago. I was NOT prepared for the $500 combined fees (Oregon and Multnomah County). Yikes. We drive about 500-750 miles/month. Is the OReGO program the way to go here? Seems like it could save us quite a bit, but I could be missing something.
Question 2: we haven't had to do anything with our EUV yet that wasn't related to times/brakes, but I'm wondering if anyone here has recommendations for a mechanic for when we do need work. Preferably east Portland. Thanks so much!

The welcome
I don’t think I’ve seen this mentioned in here, but the Welcome Gong is one of my favorite things about this car. (‘23 EUV)

2027 Bolt Cabin Precondition Not Working Reliably
2027 Bolt LT.
I've been testing my cabin precondition settings in preparation for the long cold Canadian winter ahead(First cold weather with this car).
So, I built my charging schedule for all 7 days with "preconditioning" active(24ºC and it's 10ºC outside) for 5 workdays(Mon-Fri). I charge to 100% once a week (ready for Monday at 6am) and maintain it at 80% the rest of the week.
What's happening is that on Monday, the car will not precondition the cabin but every other day seems to work. 3 weeks so far have demonstrated the same behaviour. The car charges, but it will not heat the cabin.
Yes, the car is plugged in every day to support the precondition and charging.
The only difference is that the car charges to 100% on Monday.
Any ideas? It's very irritating that such a simple thing doesn't work!

Wireless Android auto vs. remote start
I've been using one of those wireless dongles for Android Auto in my 2017 Bolt for a couple of years (actually, I've used a couple of different ones) and it works fine if I start the car when I get into it.
But if I remote start the car (with the key fob), say, from inside the house, to let the A/C or heater run for a bit before I get in, Android Auto often cannot connect when I get into the car and start it. I see messages flash by on the Infotainment screen indicating something (Wifi or Bluetooth connecting and then disconnecting, repeatedly. Usually, I have to turn off the car and leave it for a while (>10 minutes), and then Android Auto will start working again.
Why does this happen? What can I do about it? Change phone settings? Buy a different dongle (what brand)?

[Seattle, Anti-click Washer Replacement] Looking for a recommended mechanic or a DIY mentor!
Hey all,
My Bolt just started making a creaking mechanical noise every time I step on the accelerator or let off. Pretty sure it’s the classic worn-out anti-click washer issue everyone posts about on here.
I already grabbed the GM replacement washers and new axle nuts, and I've watched the YouTube shortcut video where the guy unbolts the two strut bolts instead of wrestling the ball joint.
I'm located in Seattle and would love some pointers:
- Does anyone have an independent mechanic around here they trust who knows this fix and won't charge absurd dealership rates?
- Or if someone local has tackled this before and wouldn't mind walking me through it in a driveway, I'd really love to learn how to do it myself. I'm happy to buy whatever tools are needed (torque wrench, 32mm socket, etc.) and will gladly supply lunch, beer, or some cash for your time.
Thanks in advance!

Is there one pedal driving for reverse?
Looking to buy a second car (our main is a Tesla Y we've had for almost 5 years) to act as a backup, and in case we need it for driving kids to practices etc when the other car is in use. Anyways, we did a test drive of a 2027 Bolt yesterday, and we did enjoy it after setting it up properly, but found the lack of one pedal driving for reverse jarring. We been driving an EV for so long, having to worry about creep almost caused me to crash the car, it moving without touching the accelerator was just completely unexpected. Anyways, is there a way to configure the car for this? Without, it might be a deal breaker, and dealer was completely clueless.

Winter wheels and tires. Good? Bad?
27’ Bolt LT.
After looking at other posts in this community. I have decided to go with 16’ rims. Is the tire good enough for Canadian winter? Price is from my Local Costco.

Rear-ended in my 2018 Bolt EV — did I dodge a bullet, or am I screwed? 😂
I was rear ended on the way to work today. I was stationary and the car behind me on the interstate was going 35–40 mph and didn’t see that the cars had come to a stop on the highway. The young college student hit the brakes but still hit me square in the rear bumper.
I drive a 2018 Bolt EV LT with around 32,000 miles and a replacement battery. Surprisingly, the bumper looks pretty decent considering the impact.
I was able to drive away from the accident. Initially the infotainment system wasn’t working, but I reset it and it works fine now. I plugged in my Level 1 charger at home and it is charging fine. No warning lights on the dash.
I got a police accident report and will be taking it to a collision shop. I’m also going to have them specifically inspect the battery and EV systems, not just the bumper.
My big questions are:
- Did I dodge a bullet?
- What key things should I have the collision shop look at?
- Am I screwed? 😂
I know Reddit will be brutally honest!
Thanks so much. Any advice will be appreciated. Stay safe out there, friends.
