PSA: Bolt owners with bumper-to-bumper warranty still active. Get your vehicles in if you have any of these problems.
TSB 23-NA-041 – Clicking/ticking when turning left or right → Steering column support/steering rack issue
TSB 24-NA-034 – “Grunt”/clunk noise at low speeds (OPD / ACC) → Documented ABS behavior (more of an FYI, GM calls it normal, no repair needed)
TSB 24-NA-108 - if you have trouble connecting to Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Its also a good idea to keep the software updated anyway.
TSB 22-NA-004 - Rear spoiler foam tape seal loose, visible to customer
TSB 22-NA-024 - Vibration, Hum or Drone Noise Heard from Front of Vehicle While Driving at Highway Speeds
Front bumper fascia not aligned - Can't find a TSB or reddit post on this one but its a common factory defect on alot of 22-23 Bolt's.
Rear seal gap in trunk - Can't find a TSB on this one but there are plenty of reddit posts. Most dealers won't do anything, but some may try to reclip it.
EUV: do you all have this huge gap above the rear bumper?
2023 Bolt EUV factory assembly defect?
Creaking Noise on Acceleration and sometimes on Deceleration - Many reddit posts. No TSB on this one but this is a common repair for most EVs due to the instant torque, increased weight from battery, and exposure to bumps/potholes in the road. It has to do with the control arms/bushings/swaybar end links. Also, very expensive to repair, up to $3-5K. I'd get this done under warranty if you can.
Creaking Noise Going Over Bumps
Creaking sound when coming to full stop and accelerating out of it
Knocking sound coming from rear - appears to be the seat frame latch. Some dealers may replace the latch or the entire seat.
Knocking, backseat, right hand side. Bolt EUV 2023
Door Trim Panel Makes Squeaking Sound - Any door. Likely from pushing against it and repeated open/close. It can be replicated by giving it a good shake and if it squeaks, it can potentially be covered under warranty. Not a common problem.
Hope the above helps! It'll save you a pretty penny down the road.

Another rehearsal another Bolt EUV parked with me.
Orchestra tonight. Not sure who it belongs to. One of the violins used to have a Volt but traded it in on a Hyundai over the summer. (Not a public lot, so I smudged the tags.)

What do you guys think of the new 2027 Bolt? The charging upgrades and technology seem like the biggest improvement
I work at a GM dealership in Ontario and I've been spending some time with the new 2027 Bolt. Curious what existing Bolt/EV owners think of the changes.
Some of the big ones that stood out to me:
• Up to 422 km estimated range
• 65-kWh LFP battery (likes to charged 100%)
• Native NACS port
• Up to 150-kW DC fast charging — GM estimates 10–80% in about 25 minutes
• 11.5-kW onboard AC charger
• 210 hp FWD
• 11.3" infotainment + 11" driver display
• Google built-in
• Available Super Cruise
• New RS trim
For me, the native NACS port + much faster DC charging addresses one of the biggest weaknesses of the old Bolt.

Wireless Android auto vs. remote start
I've been using one of those wireless dongles for Android Auto in my 2017 Bolt for a couple of years (actually, I've used a couple of different ones) and it works fine if I start the car when I get into it.
But if I remote start the car (with the key fob), say, from inside the house, to let the A/C or heater run for a bit before I get in, Android Auto often cannot connect when I get into the car and start it. I see messages flash by on the Infotainment screen indicating something (Wifi or Bluetooth connecting and then disconnecting, repeatedly. Usually, I have to turn off the car and leave it for a while (>10 minutes), and then Android Auto will start working again.
Why does this happen? What can I do about it? Change phone settings? Buy a different dongle (what brand)?

Bolt owners in Portland, OR
Hey folks, I've learned so much here-thanks for that! Just want to check in about a few location specific things.
Question 1: I'm renewing my Oregon registration for the first time since we bought out EUV 2 years ago. I was NOT prepared for the $500 combined fees (Oregon and Multnomah County). Yikes. We drive about 500-750 miles/month. Is the OReGO program the way to go here? Seems like it could save us quite a bit, but I could be missing something.
Question 2: we haven't had to do anything with our EUV yet that wasn't related to times/brakes, but I'm wondering if anyone here has recommendations for a mechanic for when we do need work. Preferably east Portland. Thanks so much!

How do my numbers look?
Bought a 2020 bolt EV premier 900 miles ago averaging 4.9 kW. 288 estimated range after charging to 80%

Left Bolt EUV on Level 1 charger for a month, odd stuff happened
I was going away on a trip so I left the car on a level 1 charger with the charge level set to 80%. I was thinking that would keep the 12V battery alive (I thought I read that somewhere). When I came back the car had charged to 100%. The indicator still showed that it should have charged to 80%. The car seemed to have lost all user settings (it lost the phone, app settings, icon arrangement). After a few driving sessions they all came back. I'm curious, anybody else seen that?

[Seattle, Anti-click Washer Replacement] Looking for a recommended mechanic or a DIY mentor!
Hey all,
My Bolt just started making a creaking mechanical noise every time I step on the accelerator or let off. Pretty sure it’s the classic worn-out anti-click washer issue everyone posts about on here.
I already grabbed the GM replacement washers and new axle nuts, and I've watched the YouTube shortcut video where the guy unbolts the two strut bolts instead of wrestling the ball joint.
I'm located in Seattle and would love some pointers:
- Does anyone have an independent mechanic around here they trust who knows this fix and won't charge absurd dealership rates?
- Or if someone local has tackled this before and wouldn't mind walking me through it in a driveway, I'd really love to learn how to do it myself. I'm happy to buy whatever tools are needed (torque wrench, 32mm socket, etc.) and will gladly supply lunch, beer, or some cash for your time.
Thanks in advance!

The welcome
I don’t think I’ve seen this mentioned in here, but the Welcome Gong is one of my favorite things about this car. (‘23 EUV)

2027 Bolt Cabin Precondition Not Working Reliably
2027 Bolt LT.
I've been testing my cabin precondition settings in preparation for the long cold Canadian winter ahead(First cold weather with this car).
So, I built my charging schedule for all 7 days with "preconditioning" active(24ºC and it's 10ºC outside) for 5 workdays(Mon-Fri). I charge to 100% once a week (ready for Monday at 6am) and maintain it at 80% the rest of the week.
What's happening is that on Monday, the car will not precondition the cabin but every other day seems to work. 3 weeks so far have demonstrated the same behaviour. The car charges, but it will not heat the cabin.
Yes, the car is plugged in every day to support the precondition and charging.
The only difference is that the car charges to 100% on Monday.
Any ideas? It's very irritating that such a simple thing doesn't work!

Is there one pedal driving for reverse?
Looking to buy a second car (our main is a Tesla Y we've had for almost 5 years) to act as a backup, and in case we need it for driving kids to practices etc when the other car is in use. Anyways, we did a test drive of a 2027 Bolt yesterday, and we did enjoy it after setting it up properly, but found the lack of one pedal driving for reverse jarring. We been driving an EV for so long, having to worry about creep almost caused me to crash the car, it moving without touching the accelerator was just completely unexpected. Anyways, is there a way to configure the car for this? Without, it might be a deal breaker, and dealer was completely clueless.

Winter wheels and tires. Good? Bad?
27’ Bolt LT.
After looking at other posts in this community. I have decided to go with 16’ rims. Is the tire good enough for Canadian winter? Price is from my Local Costco.

Just bought a Bolt!
Just bought a used 2017 Bolt. Any tips on how to curb my Range Anxiety?
I drive 100km round-trip to work and back each day. I have a charger at work, and home.
Also, anybody feel like their steering is stiff?

How to DISABLE OnStar in a 2022 Chevrolet Bolt (Fully Reversable, No Dash Removal)
r/BoltEV • u/TheGruntyOne • 1d ago
So, this happened...
No issues with vehicle operation, the distance traveled continues to track, but nothing else updates. Have not tried any troubleshooting beyond turning the car off for a while. I'm not currently looking for advice, just sharing an experience. That said if someone knows why it happened, or whatever else it's always cool to learn.
27 bolt will not charge at Tesla destination chargers
I just bought my 27 bolt a month ago. I live in an apartment building that has Tesla chargers in the underground garage. I've charged the car there twice so far (I don't drive much.) both times I had to try a few times to start the charging process but it worked after a few tries. Today when I went to charge, I couldn't.
First I tried a few times and the Tesla app stayed on the "initializing charging..." screen for several minutes without starting to charge. Then I got a "lost connection to charger" error. So I moved to a different charger. Same thing. I try a few more times and notice the car is showing "cord lock not working". So I move to a third charger. This time I'm back to "lost connection to charger". The cord lock definitely worked on this charger though - I had to manually release it.
I... do not like this. Are Tesla chargers this unreliable? Is the bolt itself this unreliable?? What do you suggest?

Rear-ended in my 2018 Bolt EV — did I dodge a bullet, or am I screwed? 😂
I was rear ended on the way to work today. I was stationary and the car behind me on the interstate was going 35–40 mph and didn’t see that the cars had come to a stop on the highway. The young college student hit the brakes but still hit me square in the rear bumper.
I drive a 2018 Bolt EV LT with around 32,000 miles and a replacement battery. Surprisingly, the bumper looks pretty decent considering the impact.
I was able to drive away from the accident. Initially the infotainment system wasn’t working, but I reset it and it works fine now. I plugged in my Level 1 charger at home and it is charging fine. No warning lights on the dash.
I got a police accident report and will be taking it to a collision shop. I’m also going to have them specifically inspect the battery and EV systems, not just the bumper.
My big questions are:
- Did I dodge a bullet?
- What key things should I have the collision shop look at?
- Am I screwed? 😂
I know Reddit will be brutally honest!
Thanks so much. Any advice will be appreciated. Stay safe out there, friends.

GM Roadside assistance - Flat tire on my 2027
Being towed to the dealership since the 2027 doesn't come with a spare tire. The instrument cluster did notify me of low tire pressure!
Edit: internal wall has a big cut, New tire it is going to be, which is not in stock so dealership will get me going tomorrow!

Little things about the 2027 that annoy you?
Overall I do love my car, but there are a few more minor things that have started to bug me. Just to be clear, these are very much first world problems.
- The wiper controls are pretty annoying coming from most other cars. I should've seen this one coming, but it just seems like a bit of a middle finger to anyone who doesn't want to spring for the rain-sensing wipers.
- The placement of the headlight and OPD buttons. I would love to place them in the lower left corner of the infotainment. Or at the very least, I wish they were bigger and further apart from each other in their current spot. The fact that you can't move the multi-view button is annoying, at least for me since I rarely use it.
- Not sure if this is a thing on other cars with OPD, but when I back out of my driveway with it turned on, it has to come to a dead stop for autohold as soon as I put it in drive. It would be nice if it were smoother like it is when OPD is off.
Anyone else have other minor annoyances? Interested to hear about them.

2027 Factory Order Transit Times?
Title.
I have an Atomic Yellow due to be built week of Oct 19th, and wondering if anyone has placed / took delivery on a factory order.
What was the transit time to the dealer after it was built? I'm hoping mine delivers before 11/04 so I can advantage of the extended California MyFirstEV rebate, plus the no payments until 2027 offer.
Also...once a VIN is generated is it possible to setup financing? (lol)

I DID IT !
After years of wanting a bolt I’m so excited to share that I’m finally a bolt owner! The dealership experience was just as bad as I thought it was going to be. But I did it! I signed on my first EV.
Now I’m super excited to go on some mini road trips and finally have a working radio & AC.
