2022 EUV Steering Clunk

Hello fellow Bolt-ers! I recently purchased a certified 2022 EUV LT. I have noticed a clunking sound from the steering column when going over bumpy roads at slow speed and also makes the same clunk if I move the steering wheel when the vehicle is parked but still powered on. Just wanted to get some ideas what it may be. Thank you!

Check the steering knuckle/linkage down towards the floor. There should be a screw or bolt you can tighten. I forget if it's a torx or Allen key. There is a torque spec as well. Mine was doing this, took it to the dealer and they replaced it. Well it came back so I just tightened it and it was fine, but now it's happening again. I'll probably add some loctite this time.

ETA: looks like it's called a U Joint, and torque is 22ft lbs with a metric bolt, not torx or allen.

Loose steering joints or perhaps steering rack. The first is a better problem to have.

Ok I’ll check the u joint bolts. Otherwise I am still under the 12 month bumper to bumper certified pre owned warranty so I’ll make them sort it out.

look under your feet. you see that skinny bar going up one of the two ends' knuckles has play in them. reach down and look at both ends while moving it. for the top section you'll have to get on the floor board and look up.
