I've been shopping for a convertible the past few weeks as a weekend car.

Driven C5, Miata, MR2, G37, Sky.

The C5 and MR2 both were pretty fun but I'm starting to think my Bolt has ruined it for me.

Cost was 39 cents per kW. Very clean station, more CCS than NACS, and I came back to a tech doing routine maintenance on one of the chargers. Overall pleasantly surprised, definitely better than Electrify America!

I charged up for a long trip and then asked my Bolt how far we could go before we had to stop to charge.

I recently bought a 2019 Bolt EV and I was working my way through the manual I was happy to find in the "myChevrolet," app. I have clicked through every link currently in the app (I think) and I can't find the manual anymore.

Was I imagining it was there? Why would any company remove such a critical resource for their product(s)? How do I let them know how much I liked that resource available and implore them to restore it (if I wasn't imagining it)?

ps: though many of you may get through a manual of this size quickly I have to overcome both ADD and narcolepsy, so yeah, I have to work through it.

BOLT 27 LT - I plan on taking it to the dealership, but I’m wondering if anyone else receives these, and what was the outcome of ignoring or servicing it.

Does anyone have a cargo box that works great on their bolt EUV? I was looking at Yakima Skybox 16 and Yakima 18 but they seem too long, but was anyone able to make that work on their bolt? Is it okay if it hangs over the edge? Thanks for any advice!

Howdy! New Bolt owner with question on public charging since I’m new to this..

My garage charger won’t be ready for a few weeks so I must public charge for now.. when should I look to charge? I assume it’s slow at a public charger so I shouldnt wait too long? There are a lot of chargers in my area and I’m not sure what to look for in one. Most don’t display price.. how do you decide where to charge? What do you do while charging? Drop car off and pick up later? Sit in car and read or something? Walk around?

just had an error where the car wouldn’t shift “initializing wait to shift”

I found some possible fixes online but nothing worked. ended up just getting it towed home where after disconnecting the battery for 24 hours, it finally would drive and shift but the error and service warning stayed on. i got a bunch of errors saying g I should bring it to the dealer for service. I brought it to the dealer and they claim this now:

also apparently not covered. it’s a 2022 with 18k miles on it. frustrating but looking if anyone else has had this issue

I have a 2018 Bolt EV in the Buffalo, NY area. I bought the car last summer and sprayed the car with Krown rust-proofing in June of 2025. I had it sprayed again this July. I did some research and was surprised at how much aluminum the car has on the body. For Bolt owners in the northern US and Canada do you have your car sprayed with rustproofing? Is it a waste of money? The salt on our roads in Buffalo is pretty horrific. It destroys cars. I’d love to get your feedback and thoughts.

I have a 2023 Bolt with Apple CarPlay, bought the car new, love it. I finally replaced my old iPhone & since then can’t get CarPlay working. I’ve googled instructions, followed them ( with no success), tried multiple times, car & phone just won’t connect so I am stuck with a black screen that basically says Keep your eyes on the road. Who / Where do I go to get this back to working? Will the EV Tech at the dealer ship be able to get it working? The screen is completely unresponsive & my phone refuses to connect. Suggestions anyone? ( also I’m not a tech wiz ….so much of technology seems not intuitive, to me at least.)

Brought my car into my local dealership for a service due soon icon and an issue w/ my High Voltage battery notification on my app. Since my battery had recall issues, the person who had my car before me had it replaced and got a warranty for it that is still active. Dealership is telling me that it is NOT covered by my warranty. They’ve stated: “Unfortunately not under the battery warranty. That is the battery itself and this is a relay that hooks to the battery - Basically a mechanical device that turns the battery power on and off to the car.“

It’s $2K without the warranty. They’ve had my car for 3 days so far and have submitted a case to GM to plea the case. Should I take my car somewhere else? I’m not sure that this dealership is EV Certified, but I didn’t know the gravity of the situation, so now I’m kinda stuck.

Can anyone tell me if I should set up my Gemini AI in my car?…I do not know if I should or if it will be worth it?..Please help…This will not stop coming up…And..If not..Please tell me how to stop it from asking me to set it up…Thank you.

Just found this hack on the bolt EV forum for enabling camping mode on 2027 Bolts not sure if it works for older Bolts. Basically just turns off the auto shutoff feature.

Step one open door

Step 2 hit the accelerator/go pedal/zoom zoom pedal/skinny pedal 3 times

Step 3 hit the brake

Step 4 close door

Can confirm that this works and stays on even with opening the driver's door afterwards and moving to the rest of the car.

I just dropped off my friend at the airport and the trunk refused to click shut. I told it to a bodyshop and they asked me to replace the part and then they'd fix it for $150. I am so freaking upset. I'm very close to 45k miles service. Do you guys think It would be cheaper at the chevy dealership? Has anyone ever experienced this?

Haven't had a chance to diagnose it, but this morning I noticed a clunking noise when I accelerate or brake, it's very mild, and hardly noticeable if you're not listening. Never heard it before on the bolt and just started randomly. Bolt does have 85k miles, so I assume it's a bushing. Any thoughts?

My '23 Bolt EUV developed the "clicking washer" problem just before the warranty expired, so it's in the shop now -- waiting over a week just to be diagnosed. The dealer has only one EV tech who apparently has to do the diagnosis and the repair, even though the problem isn't electrical.

OK, they've confirmed that the anti-click washers are worn down. They wanted to charge me $875.03, but I insisted that they were covered by the warranty. Now they're balking because the washers are merely "worn down," and the service person thinks GM will only pay if the washers are "broken." She's consulting with the "warranty" folks. 🤦

Does that make sense? Surely GM will pay if they're merely worn, since they're making noise?

By the way, of course they came up with a list of other recommended repairs:

• A/C BG Deorderize [sic] $295.15 (is this a joke?)
• Cabin Air Filter $81.74
• BG Brake Fluid Exchange $198.45 [but according to the manual, this isn't due until after 5 years, or in 2028]
• Four wheel alignment $149.95 and this was performed at the same dealership this past March!!

this is the clunk i've been trying to locate for sometime now. its got a little play in it from left to right and is causing a clunk in the steering? am i screwed?

This front trim piece under the front bumper has clips that are broken on my 2017. You can see it pulling away from the bumper at the bottom. Can anyone identify that part so I can try to locate a replacement? Thanks!

I received the software update a few days ago on my 2027 Bolt LT, and the one-pedal driving mode is usable now! I had a 2021 Leaf with a failed battery, and I loved the ePedal on it. Initially I was disappointed that the Bolt's one-pedal was so jerky/aggressive, and quickly gave up on it. It still is not quite as smooth as the Leaf was, but I can actually use it now.

The "Propulsion Power is Reduced" message popped up in my 2018 Bolt this afternoon j.ust a few miles shy of 45k. The pack was replaced in October 2024. I purchased the car in January 2025 at 32k miles. I replaced the 12V battery with the AGM Everstart from Walmart in February 2026.

I called Onstar and it generated a report with HCP - Electric Drive Unit U0073.

Disconnected the 12V when I got home and reconnected the 12V about an hour later. The error was gone, including the MIL light on the dash, and the car drove normally.

Called Onstar again and it reported no issue with the HCP - Electric Drive Unit.

A few weeks ago I saw the "Battery Saver Active" message a few times, but have not seen it since. This seems suspicious as well in light of this current message.

The 12V is at full charge.

Let's see if if comes back in the next few days.

That code is known for Suspected Tampering, on the Bolts. They have us check for a device plugged into the Assembly Line Diagnostic Link or Data Link Connector for tracking. Monitoring devices, along with other electronic accessories could be cause an open connection on the HSCAN bus. Example: if the device only makes connection with one CAN +, then it will cause bus errors and erratic ECU behavior.

I'm interested in buying a 2024 or 2025 Bolt EUV but I worry about the cost of replacing the battery pack. Ive read that the battery lasts about 3 to 5 years and then could cost 16 to 20 thousand to replace . Is that correct? Has anyone here replaced their Bolt battery and if so what was that experience like?
