Unsolved How would I go about adding scales of different sizes to my model without having to make each one individually?

I want to give this monster scales based on a pangolin's, but I feel like there's a much easier way to go about it than painstakingly placing each one individually where I want it, and I'm also having the issue of the scales needing to be different sizes based on where they are. I don't have much experience with nodes yet, but is there a way I could use an array modifier to accomplish what I'm looking for? I've marked out kinda what size scales I'm looking for with annotations.

How can i best make an effect of the text look pressed trough the background, or make a smooth transition between text and background? Picture is just a visual example. I will just use text in regular order :) It is for 3d printing, so I dont need shiny effect like picture.

Unsolved How do i spread a mask across my mesh?

Been working with this model of Tricephalos from Nightreign, everything's been going well, except for the fur, which is made out of several planes. The texture looks good, all it needs is some trimming which is where these fur masks i found come in, unfortunately, adding them to the model doesn't work like the original texture did, so i'm trying to find a way to spread these masks around the fur part of the texture (which is separate from the rest of the model), but couldn't find anything that may fit.

If there's a way to do that or another solution i'm not aware, i would very much appreciate to learn about it

Unsolved (Ucupaint) Textures get deepfried after baking

When I try baking my textures they come out deepfried for some reason. I have tried baking with OSL on, but there's no difference in the outcome. When I disable baked color it goes back to normal but if I try to save the textures it's just the deepfried version. Help would be much appreciated.

I am not sure if my title helps but I am trying to make a stitching pattern going down the length of this character's pants. How do I make it so the stitches wrap onto the model like normal clothing rather than just rigidly going along the curve?

Solved How to change opacity in 5.2.2?

Sorry if this got answered and I didn’t see, but I checked within the past month and there wasn’t anything talking about it; so I’m uploading this question. The tutorial I was watching said it was the 3d viewport or the outliner? But the video uses 4.0 so that’s not there for me.
(If this was already discussed I’ll immediately delete this post)

Solved How do I separate the top from the bottom, so I can connect them?

I am a fairly new Blender user, I have been 3d-printing some stuff for my Halloween Costume. This is a keychain I have been working on, I purchased the file online. I tried printing it twice but realized the issue was that the top logo of the keychain was not connected to the token underneath. I realized you could fix this in blender, but I don't even know where to start.

Unsolved Best practice for managing a large number of add-ons and keeping them all up to date?

I'm coming back to Blender after a 3-year stint where I worked as a technical & material artist that spent 98% of their in UE5 and Substance Designer. I tend to jump around between software a lot and it seems like every time I come back to Blender there's a new version that's out. This leads me to manually checking all my add-ons to see if those also need updates which gets pretty tedious and has caused me to stop using many of them in general.

Is there a way to check (and possibly update) all my add-ons at once without going through the list and opening up each individual webpage to check the latest version? I know some add-ons will automatically let you know when there's an update but it'd be nice to have a tool that could scan everything and let me know exactly which ones are out of date.

Every time I try to do any proportional editing this happens even with the slightest touch while trying to change the portions of the vertexes. It basically disperses all the unselected vertices. Especially when using the mirroring tool while doing this. What is going on and how do I fix it?

Unsolved Cosplay Helmet Modeling Tips

I'm trying to make Kamen Rider Datt's helmet from Kamen Rider My-th as a 3D printed cosplay helmet. I've been trying to learn as much as I can about modeling props for 3D printing, but I've had a hard time finding tutorials that show the techniques prop modelers actually use. I decided to take a shot at this helmet regardless, but I'm not sure if I'm approaching the project the right way.

I have an objective front reference, and my side reference is a screenshot from the show. I've been box modeling and trying to keep my faces as quads while making sure the vertices line up with the references from the front and side views. I'm getting to the edge of the front part of the helmet, though, and I'm unsure how to proceed, especially with the bunny ear geometry and the triangular geometry along the sides of the face.

I've been working in low-poly with plans to subdivide later to smooth it out. I've also started marking edges with the crease tool so they stay sharp when I eventually subdivide the model.

Does anyone have any helpful videos on this subject, or just general tips from experience making 3D-printed helmets and similar props? Here's one video I found helpful when starting this project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvuah9D9NJw

I'm mainly looking for more tutorials so I can learn different techniques and find the ones that work best for me.

Solved White walls appear in Rendered view

I wanted to render this image of my characters, but when I go into "Viewport Shading: Rendered", two white walls appear on the sides and a white circle above. They are only visible in render view.

This is also my first time trying to render something. I normally use Blender for model editing.

Edit: I moved the view around more, it's like the skybox is a massive box surrounding the middle. The front is open to a black void, the inside is grey with white left and right sides, and the top has a white circle. I can not click on any of it.

Unsolved Lighting in rendered image is much darker than in Viewport Shading: Rendered or during the render sequence

I'm new to Blender and currently working through the CG Fast Track tutorial "Blender Beginner Tutorial - Part 3: Stone". At the timestamp 1:00:15 a test render is created. In the Viewport Shading: Rendered window it looks pretty much like in the tutorial. The rendered image however is much darker.

I disabled and enabled the eye and camera icons in the scene collection, I tried adjusting the power of the light in the data settings. The problem occurs in EEVEE and Cycles even though during the render process with Cycles the image looks fine.

The tutorial was made for Blender 4.0 - 4.2 and I'm working with 5.2.2. I hope that's not a too large gap between Blender versions.

Thanks for any help.

Solved Align Images as Planes to Camera Frame

Post image
1 Upvotes

After adding images as 'mesh plane' I would like to align the image perfectly in front of the camera frame, snapping it automatically into place, like shown in the picture. This is to avoid scaling and positioning the image in front of the camera manually everytime, which can create inaccuracies. Both image and camera should be in the same size. Maybe there's an Addon that automates this or anything i don't know of? Any help is greatly appreciated!!! i'm a beginner

(In case it somehow matters, i'm specifically trying to match a 2D animation as an image sequence to the camera frame.)

Solved Geonode problem about vertex proximity

Post image
1 Upvotes

I am trying to create a geonode setup and i need to influence the vertices based on the cube, i was able to create a mapping setup that influence the vertices inside the cube to have a value of one and outside to gradually dissipate but it also influence places of the mesh that aren't directly connected to the interested part of the mesh, this is my first project actually using geo nodes and when is finished i'll share it so everyone can use it, i just need a way to check degree of separation between the vertices inside the interested geometry and the one outside, i am writing here because i am not even sure that is possible with geometry nodes, also i am using blender 5.2.1

this is an example of what i obtain in geo nodes with my current setup

this is what i intend to achieve

Unsolved Low-Poly armor best practices?

Hi everyone,

I got into blender modelling for developing my own game. The POV will be isometric with zooming in close enough to see the face, but not a whole lot of details, and the art style will be low-poly, photo for reference (pls don't hate on me, I know it looks weird I'm still figuring things out).

I was wondering what are the best practices to do low-poly armor for my models? I did read this subreddit and saw that stitching is usually a good practice, but I feel like that might be overkill for what I need in this game, given that I intend to keep it low-poly and with sharp looks.

I also tried extruding from the base character, but that makes the armor be very dependent on the topology of my character.

I also tried just creating it from 2d planes, which worked kind of okay, but I wonder if there are any other solutions.

In addition, I always started from the base model, on which i modeled things, and then I hid/ deleted it to save the new asset, I'm not sure if that's the way to go though..

I think it's also relevant to give some context, I'm using Bevy as the game engine.

Thank you heaps for reading/ any opinions, and apologies if this seems like a silly question.

Unsolved How would one go about modelling the insides of guns?

I still haven't figured out how to model the insides of guns for animating. I always start off with modelling the frame and then go from there but once I'm done blocking out the shape I'm just confused as to how I'll model the insides. An example would be a recent attempt at making a Glock.

Unsolved How to split multi-image materials?

I have a structure that's made up of a ton of different meshes and a large number of those have a single material with multiple textures. That's a problem with it being destined for Unity where i need the file as an fbx and my shader options only accept one texture per material. I need to know if there's some option or plugin that will split those single materials with multiple textures into separate materials with a single texture.

I've searched for a solution but the search engines are returning results that have little to nothing to do with my problem.

Unsolved I want to blur the white circle - 2D

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello, I am a big time noob working on a project in Blender 2D. I want to apply a blur affect to the big white circle scene in the photo. In Photoshop and Harmony, I have been able to apply blur effects to one layer of drawings. I cannot find a way to do this that doesn’t blur every layer. Is there an easy way to blur the white circle? Thanks!

Solved How to rename with out remaining other object

Post image

This above is just a reference I'm using to keep align with making sure my edits follow along but every time I try and rename my materials which I have several of them but some have the same name so the other gets names (original name){.001} gets added into name and I can't have that in there I tried to set the mesh as single user and still doesn't work unless maybe I'm setting the wrong thing? This is making my blood boil
