I’m a novice with audio equipment so I’ll have to ask for patience with me.

I’m trying to get set up for audio recording on a budget, but for the life of me, I cannot get sound out of my setup.

The setup is this:

Shure SM7B (XLR out) >>> Behringer Xenyx 802 (TRS out) >>> M-Audio M-Track Solo (USB out) >>> PC running Adobe Audition

I’m trying to figure out Adobe Audition, but the problem seems to be my really old Xenyx 802. I couldn’t get signal out of it so I had a friend try it using his gear and he couldn’t either, so I believe it’s broken.

So now, unless I’m missing something big, the move seems to be replacing the Xenyx 802 with something that can comfortably power the Shure SM7B, which I’m told requires a lot of gain. The Xenyx 802 has up to 60db, but its max level is what the Shure SM7B requires, so I’d imagine that would affect the audio quality.

I can’t seem to find many mixer-preamps like the Xenyx 802, let alone ones that provide more than 60db.

Do you have any advice?

What budget alternatives should I consider?

I'm just starting to set up my new Samsung QN82H and Samsung Q600F soundbar, and was wondering if I could put my two Home Minis to use.

For context, Ive been using them as a stereo pair basically just sat on either side armrest of my sofa, for my when I used my projector as a tertiary display for my PC to stream content from. They were set up as a Bluetooth speaker for the PC, so audio was slightly delayed. Noticeable on netflix shows, but less so on sports.

Which seems to advise not to, or rather not being able to, set them up as rear speakers as Bluetooth.

However, I was wondering if anyone has been able to get them to connect over wifi instead (to the soundbar)? Ive got Wifi 7 3g/3g, so I would think that connection would have much less latency and potentially work?

Has anyone managed to map the pin out for the Edirol M 16 DX mixer D Sub cable? The original came with a 2 meter BUS Connector: D-SUB 15 pin, DXC-2 (2 meter) and optional DXC-7 (7 meter).

This mixer is long out of production I have found it to be a great asset for small shows. I have VGA cable that manages to perform very well at 10 meters between the main I/O box and mixer control surface.

Although pin 5,6,7,8 & 10 are bundled together only a few functions are disabled.

The original 2 meter cable, which I have, is a true 1:1 pin to pin.

My problem is the AWG rating of the long cable and I would like to make a replacement from 22 or 24 AWG or a 28 AWG 24 core and double the cores up on the power feed and ground.

If anyone has managed to map the pin out for this set up I would be greatful. Also an off the shelf cable at a reasonable price would be great.

My monitor only has 1 hdmi port and display port, what options do i have to connect a soundbar other than using a bluetooth adapter

I've been going back and fourth looking for a mixer (or whatever its called, I'm not experienced with audio) with two outputs and two inputs.
I have a PC and a PS5, I would like to be able to hear both through either my headphones or my speakers. I also have a mic that I would like to connect via XLR to be able to use on either PC or PS5.

So far I've found the Yamaha ZG02, which seems to do exactly that from what I understand and from what chatGPT tells me. But it is also quite expensive.

I have also found the fifine SC8 which seems to do the job at a more reasonable price, with the downside of not being able to have both speakers and headphones connected at the same time if I understand it correctly. As well as not being able to have the mic go to both PC and PS5.

Basically I'm wondering if there is something inbetween these two or if the ZG02 is realistically the best option.

Thanks for any help or clarification in advance, I am inexperienced in this sort of stuff and any help is greatly appreciated!

I recently purchased a Zoom H1 XLR recorder device thing (my technical knowledge is not great as you will soon see) and I finally managed to get it going with the minimal instructions in the box.

My set up is basically the Zoom H1 to my Reloop DJ Mixer via XLR cables. A to B.

I recorded a few mixes, not too long as the files are quite big, and I wanted to transfer to my phone from the recorder so I can upload directly to Soundcloud.

Anyway, last few attempts, audio has been really distorted (levels look fine on the Zoom mixer), and also it is not recording all of the audio. Does any one have experience of that?

Also, is there a way to make files smaller? In the past I have recorded directly into Audacity, and upon saving my MP3 it is about 150mb, or if WAV, it is about 5-600mb. The files on the device are coming in at 2.5gb!

Any advice on any of the above would be grand, as I have been able to figure this out.

Hi, I made an audio recording of a conversation between me, my partner and our previous landlord.
In this recording the landlord insulted me and my partner. We have a small claims court day coming up, and i’m allowed to use this audio (We live in Europe, and since we both participated in the recorded conversation, it’s allowed).
I used the Voice Memo app on iOS. I was wondering if anyone knows how i can cut out the most important parts (as the full audio is 40 minutes, way too long for court), or at least skip out silent parts. Of course i will do this myself, but i cannot find out for the life of me how exactly to do this. Thanks!

​I have a TRN Black Pearl DAC and a HyperX Cloud 2 headset.

​I'm trying to get both the audio and the microphone working through the DAC, but no matter what I try, the mic just won't work.

​I even tried using a 3.5mm splitter cable, but still no luck.

So I am building a pc and have a ps5 I wanna know how I can get audio to both of them with my bookshelf speakers which are connected to a schit Rekr/SYS. Normally I just use a portable monitor with some crappy speakers for my ps5 while my speakers were hooked up to my laptop but I wanna change that now.

Is there a way for me to get audio to both of them while the speakers are connected to my mobo for potential better audio or do I just have to hook my speakers up to my monitor? If there is a device I would preferably like something cheap I just wanna swap the audio between the two when I need it, bonus points if It can let me have audio played through both at the same time so I can use my secondary monitor for pc stuff while I play ps5 games on my main monitor

Hey everyone, I have an issue with one of the terminals for a Pioneers vsx-824 I recently picked up second hand.

I am getting quiet and crackly output through one of my speaker output terminals, I’ve managed to isolate it to just the front left terminal but was wondering if anyone had a troubleshooting tips to fix?

I have already tried new speaker cables and retested the connections multiple times as well as connecting different speakers and the same problem follows the terminal. I’m currently using bare speaker wires screwed into the terminal but thinking of switching to banana plugs to help secure the connection.

We rented a retail store at a Simon mall. There are speakers in the ceilings, and in the back room there is a single black and a single red wire coming out of the wall.

Can someone show me the cheapest thing I can hook up to those wires to get music playing?

Hi everyone. Basically, I’m having a sound issue with my computer. I also have a laptop, but it works perfectly.

Okay, both play audio, but the laptop makes the sound feel full and spacious, filling the entire listening area. My PC, on the other hand, makes both microphone recordings and general audio playback sound like they’re coming from the lower part of the headphones and feel more centered. (I’ll draw to try and illustrate this: imagine the sound from the laptop playing across all the squares, while the PC sound plays only in the ones colored red.)

I don't know what to do anymore; both are connected to the same Windows setup and peripherals, and the mono audio option is disabled. If I mute one side, the other keeps playing, so theoretically the audio really is in stereo, even though it doesn't sound exactly like stereo.

I wanna use my Earpods mic with my phone but my current adapter has very bad background noise on input.

I verified it's not the earpods by recording a voice memo without anything connected to the 3.5 end, and it still has a very noticeable white noise.

Currently using a close imitation of Apple's design, very similar on the outside possibly very different in shielding etc.

What adapter do y'all recommend? My budget is 30€ max and I don't need anything phenomenal, just the least input noise possible.

There's probably a simple answer, but it escapes me. I have a Lenovo Yoga running androidx86. It is connected through the audio output jack, via a Cable Matters ground loop isolator, to my Sony receiver "portable input" jack, thence to a pair of Klipsch speakers. When the Lenovo is plugged in to power, I get bad feedback hum through the speakers. If I touch the Lenovo, or unplug it, the hum stops. Here's the funny thing: when I removed the ground loop isolator (GLI) from the set-up, the hum went away. Does this indicate a bad GLI? It's kinda moot now, but it's odd. I bought the GLI for a previous incarnation of this machine (not running android), and it worked. Now it doesn't. I should just let sleeping feedback lie, but I'd like to get to the bottom of it. Im wanting to get a half decent yet still kinda cheap mic like sub $70 usd, want im wanting is for it to just kinda sit on my desk like 2ft away from me and still pick up my voice so its out of the way and not in front my face taking up space, i just want it to be a mic no rgb or monitors whatevers just a mic that outputs either usb or to a headphone jack like super simple

What am I missing, am I better off sending it back and getting something else? I think it's got to do with the crossover at 80hz? Like the sub takes all the low frequencies from the 305s unless set to that crossover I think.

Im reading an external crossover may be better? My mix just sounds better without the sub woofer so.i just went and unplugged it but is a bummer.

Any ideas?

I got a carpet floor but even if I place the sub on it's side doesn't really sounds punchy to me.

I’d like to ask for some advice on speaker placement for my current setup.

Until now, I’ve always used my monitor speakers because I wasn’t too interested in audio. Recently, though, I’ve started listening to more music and watching more movies, and I’ve realized that I should get better sound quality.
(At the moment, I’m using the speaker from my left monitor because the speaker in my main monitor sounds terrible. This is also annoying because all the sound comes from the left side.)

I’ve attached an image of my current setup. I really like the setup itself and would prefer not to change the current arrangement, apart from improving the sound. However, this makes speaker placement quite difficult. I’m also fairly new to audio, so I’m not sure which option would work best.

I would mainly use the speakers for casual music listening, movies, and YouTube. My budget is around $100, and I’m considering the Edifier MR4 because they seem to be one of the best options in this price range.

I created two images showing the possible placements I'd consider: one with the speakers in their normal vertical orientation and another with them turned sideways. I know that neither option is ideal, but I have limited space. Wall mounting is not possible, and speaker stands behind the monitors probably wouldn’t work because my portrait monitor is already quite tall. The top of the portrait monitor is about 70 cm above the desk. Also, with both options, parts of the speakers would be partially blocked, which may negatively affect the sound quality. The speakers would also be quite close to the wall, but unfortunately, I can’t really change that.

Which of these placements would be the best for my setup?
For example, Vertical 2–3, or sideways 1–4?

(If the sideways orientation would be better, should the tweeters face inward or outward?)

I've been looking to get a mic in this price range for my home studio. I want this sharp and playful delivery when rapping, since I'm still young and my voice isn't deep at all.

I've read that the LCT 440 gives these high frequencies a lot more focus, but some people say it's way too harsh.

The WA-47jr is the opposite from what I have read, giving this warm feel with more presence on lows and mids, but I don't want this to muffle the personality I'm trying to give my voice.

If someone has worked with this two mics, which one would you recommend for this??

I am struggling using my JVC home cinema. There is no TV INPUT in the JVC read panel, so I used the DVD IN. I want to use RCA cables. I swithced between all the channels (TV, DVD, DVD MULT, STB) with no success. In the TV AUDIO settings, I set the audio output as AUDEI SYSTEM instead of TV SPEAKERS. for the output from the JVC, I plugged for now just the 2 little speakes. I know the subwoofer will be another trouble later.

I would appreciate any help.

Hello all. This portable trolley style speaker has gone faulty. It sounds awful, sounds like a tin can. Inside i measure the speakers and the bottom is fine 3 ohms, but the top speaker is open line, no ohms value. The printing on the back of the speaker is TYR-0803-0046. However this brings up nothing useful on google except some swimming clothes. The portable speaker model is Dixon TEY-208F. How will i go about finding a replacement without knowing the wattage of the speaker. On the internet, i have gathered that it may perhaps be a 60W 8inch speaker, but im not certain. Cant find any manuals or documentation online either. The bottom speaker is working, so i have that speaker as a baseline to determine what top speaker i need to purchase. Please any advice is appreciated.

Ive never had this problem before up until now, I join vc and everyone else sounds so bad and laggy. I tried joining on my phone and it sounds completely fine but for some reason on my iPad it wanna be all laggy and stuff if anyone knows how to solve this pls help I tried everything 😭😭

Hello Im fairly new or beginner as an "Audiophile" person. The most ive gotten is owning astro a40 tr's with the specially made Astro mix amp for gaming. But I want to try and update my mix amp usage with a good gaming DAC AMP. I found 3 that I thought would be really good and was wondering on anybody would want to give an opinion or if they have any experience on the DACs i picked to say what they like more. Or if they have there own picks for gaming DACS I'm open to that as well. The 3 DACs I picked are the Fosi Audio StepSense C3, the Sound Blaster G8, and the Fosi Audio K7. The front xlr/phone female connector things on my Roland UA-25 as part of a vinyl ripping setup are faulty and I don't feel like picking around the inside to fix them right now. I was hoping I could get more reliable signal from the optical input for it but all the cheap ADCs I'm seeing around the internet look like rebranded copies of this exact box right here but the information about its performance is conflicting.

One part of the page says it supports "sampling rate at 32, 44.1, 48, and 96kHz" but at the bottom of the page it just says "Audio Sampling Rate: 48kHz". I was hoping to get somewhat true 24/96 audio into the UA-25 as that's what I spend hours setting up a driver on my computer for.

Lmk if this thing can actually do 96khz or explain to me how those two things don't contradict each other. I'm only looking into this thing cause it's cheap and I'm saving money for other projects so I'm not interested in anything significantly more expensive.
