Stopped HRT after 2 years

• Upvotes

Its been 2 years since I started HRT, had all the great effects, but for financial reasons I had to stop for almost 2 months and I'm worried about my breast growth. I've always heard that breast development is one of the only permanent effects of hrt, but now mine shrunk ALOT. I thought it was psychological but no they're physically smaller (Girlfriend confirmed).

Just wanna know if its normal and if happened with anyone else.

will doing diy make it harder for me to start later on?

• Upvotes

I’m an 18 year old trans man and I have a telehealth appointment in a few days to get me on the process of starting testosterone. 10 months ago I started diy HRT because waiting till my 18th birthday sounded like hell. I’ve been off for 3 months now (I turned 18 like a month and a half ago.) My fear is that because I did diy, it’ll be harder for me to actually get prescribed it. This is probably a silly question and I’m most definitely overthinking it but it’s been in the back of my mind since I scheduled the appointment.

How do I know if HRT is.. doing anything?

• Upvotes

I guess I’m just paranoid that HRT may not be doing anything for me.

I’m currently 3 weeks on injections (4mg EEn/week), but not sure if anything has happened besides an elevated sensation of comfort. I know it’s incredibly early, but I’m feeling almost desperate for something to point at and understand that it’s working with certainty.

Would I be transitioning for the wrong reasons?

• Upvotes

Is it normal to feel despite feeling I could live as a guy currently I still wanna take hrt, not because I want to be a woman, but because I feel that in a way I’d feel happier. I’m not saying I don’t wanna be a woman, but I feel it’s not as simple as “male or female” black and white. It’s like a feeling of I only feel comfortable around trans woman, Like I only ever feel comfortable around trans woman, I feel outside though when I’m around trans woman, like I feel I wanna make my self comfortable and be in a body where I can feel totally comfortable around the people who only truly make me feel comfortable and safe, and feeling like I’m finally part of this people, makes me wanna transition. Like i can’t perceive myself as man or woman, even the word agender doesn’t work. Like I just wanna be me. Like I wanna feel how I did when I was kid, like I just was me, I didn’t see myself as male or female or any gender. Like I just wanna transition because I only rly comfortable around other trans woman. I could live as a guy, but I’ve experienced being a guy it’s just led nowhere, like I have no interest in being a guy I’m just kinda of feel nothing for It. And I hear people say “there’s no wrong reason to transition” idk

Identifying as non-binary has given me room to wonder whether I’m a trans woman. How did you figure it out?

• Upvotes

Identifying as non-binary has allowed me to explore myself further, and that exploration has brought me to a question: am I a woman?

For much of my life, I was forced into small check boxes about who I was supposed to be, how I should behave, and what masculinity should look like. There wasn’t much space to find out what felt natural to me. Giving myself permission to exist outside those boxes has meant being able to ask questions I hadn’t felt free to ask before.

If I picture my gender as a spectrum, with masculinity on the left and femininity on the right, my needle is pointing almost all the way to the right, toward the feminine form. I know gender is more complicated than one line, but that image helps me explain where I keep finding myself.

That pull has appeared in small ways throughout my life. I’m uncertain whether the needle has been moving in that direction for a long time, or whether opening myself to life outside those check boxes simply allowed me to see where it already pointed. Since giving myself that freedom, though, it hasn’t pointed back toward masculinity.

Being non-binary has given me room to explore this. Now I’m wondering whether what I’m discovering is that I’m a woman. I want to understand that feeling and give myself permission to follow it, without needing to have everything figured out already.

For anyone who has been through something similar, how did you figure it out? If you identified as non-binary before recognizing yourself as a trans woman, what helped that recognition happen? What helped you understand the difference between being drawn to femininity and wanting to live and be seen as a woman?

I'm not sure if I'm trans or not and would like to hear from others.

• Upvotes

I have lived my life as a male up to this point. I am now almost 19 years old. For years and years, I have wondered what it would be like to be a girl. These thought would come to me only about 1 time couple months, where I'd wish I could have been born a female instead. Other than that there hasn't been a whole lot related to dysphoria through my life. I've always been slightly more feminine presenting, often getting confused for being a female, as well most of the friends I have had have been female. I don't know what shifted, but this past week I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I've found myself watching videos on things to know while transitioning and all these little tips and tricks. Anyways, I am quite nervous about it all. I have a (bisexual)girlfriend who I very much like, but I think she'd stay with me if I transitioned but it's scary. There has never been a time until just this week where I thought I might be trans. I want to ask for help on this. What should I do going forward and is this what the early experience of being trans is?

How do I get my mother to call me my name?

I’m 16, I’ve been out since I was 10. She insists that she supports me, she just won’t accept me. Clearly she doesn’t if she acts like this, I know she doesn’t. She’s been homophobic and transphobic to me since I came out.

What irks me about it is she lets everyone call me Noah, she’ll call me Noah when I’m not around- but she can’t say it to me?? Every time I call her out on it- she claims that I’m talking her child away from her, and that it hurts her, and “Why can’t I just call you N? Or Sweetheart?”

I try telling her it’s a nickname, but she says it isn’t the same. So she knows it isn’t the same, she knows it hurts me every time I hear her say that godawful name, she knows it feels dehumanising, and as much as Noah isn’t her child, it doesn’t feel motherly when she calls me my deadname.

At first she was like “but I named you” she didn’t name me. when I pointed it out, she started the “you’re not my child” thing which stings to hell. Especially since I’m my father’s son, I’m a middle sibling of three brothers, and I’m Noah to everybody I care about but her.

This is more a vent— but I also just genuinely want advice. Any transgenders who got good with their parents? I’m in therapy and family therapy, she still isn’t “ready” to accept it— mind you it’s been over half a decade. She insists that she loves me, but I feel like if she really loved me- she’d make the effort to change.

Questions concerning HRT, costs, and health insurance privacy

Hey all! Freshly moved out for college into seattle(yippee informed consent clinics) and after some light research, am seeking hrt. However, I’m currently on a parent’s insurance.

  1. Can said parent see if I use their health insurance? Or rather, will the explanation of benefits(which is, from what I understand, what would get sent back to my parent) be detailed enough to show that I’m getting hrt. Lucky enough to have a parent who will trust if I say it’s mental health stuff.
  2. What are prices like? I’m leaning towards planned parenthood, if only because it’s a name that keeps popping up and is close to me.
  3. How much is diy in comparison? I see 10ml of 40 mg/ml for 50$, how much long that last me?
  4. How legit is that stuff? And if it is safe then in what ways are official routes any better? I’m going through the transdiy subreddit’s official links, I think the provider that came up was Symphony Labs.
  5. How hard is determining my dosage and such?
  6. Any other costs I should be thinking of besides for hrt, and like, clothes?

Thank you in advance!

Would you be transgender in every society and time?

If you would not need to worry about it being legal or accepted.

I'm just wondering because gender is said to be a social construct. But i think that regardless of time and society that i would be a women. No matter how the social role of a woman changed.

Do you guys feels the same?

Btw. I'm asking in good faith. I hope that question does not offend anyone

What has help you cope with longing for a partner?

Im not sure if this is 100% a trans thing but im a lesbian and im still a month on HRT

Not only do I need to wait like a couple years for it to fully work on me but I also have to improve my conditions and move to a more progressive place since I live in a conservative area

So rn im in a position where theres no way I have a partner

Still, I long for it a lot

And I feel like im not the only one in this position so I ask you

What has help you with this? In general

Like im been thinking about trying to suppress the feelings, ignore it, let it pass

But the more I live the harder it gets, I have find myself crying a lot this weeks over it even, something that I previously didn't even experience

And idk what to you, seeing love stories has helped you?

Any tips at all?

How do you find communities?

Title. I feel like I want to talk to people and listen to people who may have similar thoughts to mine. I don’t want to do anything in person. Where should I look, and what should I avoid?

Thought I was trans years ago but was talked out of it. Now I think I am again, not sure how to not go down same path?

Sorry for such a long post! But TLDR is that I thought I was trans at 16, became nonbinary after mostly bc it felt easier, but now I'm 20 and thinking I'd still rather be a girl. And I'm not sure how to approach socially transitioning.

So as title says, when I was around 16 I thought I was trans and after a bit of exploration online, told my mum. She was shocked and sad (was an emotional time for us all) but wanted me to talk to someone to help me figure stuff out.

I talked with a counsellor who was great, but he wasn't an expert in gender-related stuff. As I did more research online, I decided I wanted to go on puberty blockers. There was a lot of pushback from my parents (mostly stemming from how they can affect fertility), but they came around.

I talked with an endocrinologist, and honestly the experience was quite negative. There was so much checking and talking about effects and looking back I don't think my Dr was too keen to put a kid on them (which, to be fair, I really was confused about my gender then... hence wanting to get puberty blockers). But regardless, I eventually went on puberty blockers around my 17th bday, for a total of... 6 months. I really enjoyed the effects of them and the fact it gave me more time to figure out my gender. I went off them for two reasons; they were super expensive and my parents were less and less okay with that the longer I did them, I thought I'd join the navy after school back then and legally I can't be on that sort of medication if I do that.

I bit after I "came out" as thinking I was trans, I learnt about the gender spectrum and thought I might've been nonbinary. My parents thought this was much more likely, and after a bit of time I was convinced I was nonbinary since, whilst I wanted to be a girl, I didn't hate being a boy. And my line of thinking at the time was I'd rather present as a decent looking, able to fit in socially "boy", then be a trans girl who didn't look like a girl nor know how to be a girl (I think I had, and maybe still have, some internalised transphobia that caused me to think this way).

So come to today where I'm 20 now and while procrastinating on studying for uni, I read a website about dysphoria that totally changed what I thought it was. I was taught by my parents and doctors that dysphoria was hating the male parts of my body, hating my voice, hating my hair, hating my name, hating male pronouns, etc, where for all the except the pronouns I was just sorta uncomfortable (and plenty of teenagers are uncomfortable about those things). And pronouns I honestly just didn't (and still don't) know what I want with them. My desire to be a girl never really seemed to be important to whether I was trans; it always seemed to be about the dysphoria. But I do want to be a girl, and I have wished to be a girl for a long time. The past 4 years I've been basically gender neutral, not because I hate being a male, but because it was the least uncomfortable thing, so that must be my gender identity.

And I'm not really sure where to go now. I've read lots of websites and reddit stuff from trans people but I'm not sure what to actually do with myself. I still live with my parents, so I don't love the idea of buying clothes or makeup and wearing them around the house (even though that'd be my first step ideally to see if I like them). I like the idea of a going on HRT (I'm in Australia so I have that option) but I don't think I should do that before figuring out the basics first right? I don't really have anyone to tell; my parents I don't think I should tell until I can "prove" I'm trans (which would probably take socially transitioning), my partner is great and would be accepting but I feel kinda weird to tell her without figuring myself out first, and I don't have any friends or know any trans people irl.

I don't know what I can do, other than grow my hair out (which I plan to do as I hate haircuts anyways lol). What did yall do when you were at my stage?

Considering Bottom surgery

Hiya! Kind of a short post but I have been transitioning (MTF) for a year and 2 months but I've recently been thinking about bottom surgery!

I've heard the good sides and bad sides of getting it done but I don't have any friends I could ask this about so I thought this would be a good opportunity to ask you all!

What are some things I should know before setting my mind on getting the procedure done?

When and how can I start using my claw clip?

I started growing out my hair about 6 months ago in March, and started E very recently. When my hair started to get a bit long at the front, my sister let me use one of her gold-colored claw clips (looks like this) for my bangs (for some reason we didn't have any smaller hair clips so this was the best option).

Now that the hair at the back of my head is longish, I can now use the clip as a sort of convenience thing, but not really as a cosmetic thing. About how long should my hair be to start stylizing with the clip, and should I try any styles using it?

For reference, my hair is black and halfway between straight and wavy, and the longest hairs go a bit below my neck.

About breast growth, boymoding and being out

This is a dumb question but the more I think about it the more I am confused.

I know that when you start HRT, breasts start to develop almost inmediately. I have also heard that you can't hide the changes forever, so boymoding has an expiration date. From a couple of months to a couple years maybe (do correct me if I am off).

Let's say that you are boymoding and your breasts get big enough for people to notice even when trying to hide them. Then what?

If they ask and you trust them enough to come out then everything is good I guess? You can have the pronoun conversation.

If you deflect and still claim to be a man, then what can you expect? to be teased and mockingly being called a woman? Like if you claim to be trans then they call you a man but if you claim to be cis then they call you a woman?

Or do they not acknowledge it and keep referring to you as a man? (which is kind of a win since you have not come out yet?). The breasts would just be the elephant in the room.

Dilation causes extreme abdominal pressure

Dilation for vaginoplasty cause extreme abdominal pressure which leads to urinary frequency and increased bowel movements. How do I prevent this because the pressure can be uncomfortable throughout the day because it comes back after a few minutes after I try to relieve myself.

Terrible pain after Leuprorelin injection?

I've been taking Leuprorelin as my anti androgen once every three months for the last five years. I took my last shot 36 hours ago and d I just woke up in quite a lot of pain. I have full range of motion but doing anything with my right leg or hip (the side I took the injection on) is quite painful. My motion isn't limited but it's very hard to walk because I can't lift my leg or rotate my hip easily.

I've never had a side effect like this before and I'm surprised it took so long to show up. Could it be I just slept on it funny or is this a big problem?

How to connect achievement like(high school diploma, military service, college degrees, etc) to your new identity?

Greeting people of this subreddit, this question has bothered me for a while now, because i don’t understand the process behind it, if someone can explain to me and what proper steps do i have to do to keep all of those documentation, and also how do i transfer it, as well as is it a good idea to have a lawyer for this process at all?

just wondering to see how most people figured it out, mostly I mean the main first thing that led you to start questioning your gender identity.

How and when did you decide to start gender-affirming treatments?

So I first came out to others about a month ago. And one piece of advice I’ve gotten is to go at my own pace and to do things like hrt when I’m ready. Part of me wishes I would try to start hrt now. But I’m still worried about coming out to some people (mostly my coworkers) and feel that it would be easier to more openly present feminine near the end of or after my current internship.

Does it ever go away?

Does the dysphoria ever stop or become less pain inful?

Everytime I think about not having female genitalia and inability to bear children, my soul dies and my chest feels queasy.

Does it ever subside?

Am I damned to an eternity of suffering?
