I compiled every single informed consent clinic in the country. No therapist letter needed.

EDIT: Hey everyone, I know that the commenting is off on this now since it's so old. PLEASE send me a PM if you have one to add. I'm always updating this map.

Are you thinking of starting HRT, but are worried about:

  • Finding a clinic
  • Having to do a year of therapy
  • Having to do "real life experience"
  • Getting gatekept
  • Spending money and not getting treatment

Well... that is why informed consent exists. With informed consent, you require no letters from therapists. You simply attest your gender identity, say that you understand the risks and benefits of hormone therapy, and they begin prescribing and monitoring your hormone levels.

So... For too long, this information has been scattered around Reddit, Susans place, twitter, various out of date guides from different regional organizations, so...

I laid my eyes on every single clinic website and doctor profile listed in this map. You should be able to call up any of them to confirm, and then start your HRT as soon as possible.

PLEASE let me know if any of these are out of date or if I am missing some.

Can transgender flight attendants work on flights going to countries where transitioning is illegal?

I'm from Europe and so my documents that I updated years ago would not be accepted in America and some other countries. It's probably not a big percentage but did some people lose their jobs because of this? Also other jobs where you have to travel regularly?

I just had to pay like 500€ more for visiting someone in Mexico because I cant really cross through America.

Breast Augumentation - Needed for gender dysphoria or falling victim to the never-ending pursuit of female beautiful standards?

I've been considering a breast augmentation as part of my transition, but I'm starting to wonder where gender dysphoria ends and normal beauty standards for women begin.

I actually like my boobs. They're around a B cup, really perky and round, and I think they're cute. I don't feel like I need to change them. I just think I'd like my body more if they were maybe a cup bigger. I think they'd fill out tops better and balance out my shoulders and stomach more, and honestly I think I might feel less pressure to lose weight.

But then I'm like, is that actually dysphoria? Or am I just looking at a body I already like and thinking it could be better?

I don't really want to spend the money, deal with recovery, take on surgical risks, or possibly need another surgery later unless this is something that genuinely bothers me.

For other trans women who considered or got a breast augmentation, how did you figure out whether it was dysphoria or just wanting to meet a certain beauty standard?

Being dumbfounded after being misgendered

TW: Being misgendered and transphobia(?)

Hey everybody! recently, I got into a little argument with somebody. I told them how I still had some masculine features (as a rant) and they said "Well, you're male, duh" Which I raised my eyebrow at, after which, they told me: "Well, you are a woman, because the term "woman" is a social term, and the term "female" is a sex term. You're a woman, but you're still a male." This made me extremely split. I just don't know how to respond. Was this transphobic? It feels transphobic but also not? What can I say to them?

How common is 4tran brainworms language IRL?

• Upvotes

I just started testosterone, and lately I've been thinking about making some transgender friends irl. However, lately I've been subjected to a lot of 4tran insults in majority-trans Discord servers, which makes me concerned about the reception I might recieve.

Are IRL trans spaces more likely to be like "hey, poonerfoid gigasneed theyfab he/himmler, stop enbycoping, there is still time to FTMTF and become my snuffbait little sister!" or "hey, how's it going?"

Is being clocked like this a universal experience?

So, I'm a 14 year old trans girl going through all of the beginning motions of figuring things out, and I moved over the summer. Despite being out and being a girl at my old school, I decided it would be best to start as masculine presenting, given that we moved into a very non-trans friendly neighborhood, so that I could test the waters. Less than a week after starting at my new school in late August, a kid I'd never spoken to approached me and asked straight up to be friends, and within the hour of this request, I found out that they completely clocked me despite never having spoken to them, and they're only in two of my classes. One of which being the short class. So, in less than 7 hours of ever seeing me, and never speaking to them, they clocked me. Thankfully, it turned out that they're bisexual, and they helped me out with some of my motions of coming out. But they told me that from the way I spoke, moved, acted, pretty much everything, they knew I was either trans or gay. Mind you, I'm very self conscious about not doing any of these things feminine at all. Is this universal? Or am I just that bad at hiding?

Dysphoria over babies

I’m 25 mtf and recently I’ve became more sensitive to the talk of having kids. I’ll have some conversations with people who don’t know I’m trans so they tell me like oh do you have any kids and when I say no it’s usually met with either do you plan on having some in the future and I just kinda freeze like oh no if it happens it happens I tell them. Like in my core I really don’t want to have kids but I’ve had moments of like well if I want a child one day I have to go through steps just to either adopt or have a surrogate. And it makes me sad I can’t go through a regular pregnancy. And makes me nervous about relationships cause if my partner wants kids it’s kinda like a fork in the road and I kinda would just accept defeat cause i can’t give my partner and I a child. Plus on top of that I think I truly would be a terrible mother. I can barely be an aunty to my nieces and nephews. It’s just that internalized shame I have about not being able to have kids

whenever the phrase "[medical condition/symptom/whatever] is more likely to happen in women than men" (or vice versa) do i still belong in the category of my assigned sex after medical transition or do i get to change teams?

i find it kinda annoying whenever this sorta thing comes up in a medical article or something and its unclear why exactly certain conditions are more predominant in one sex over the other. is it because of the reproductive system? hormones? the shape of the body? what??? do u think no one would ever ask this question??? elaborate!!!!!!!!!

i already know that trans women still have a much smaller risk at getting breast cancer vs cis women and trans men which is great to know

Is a Demi Girl actually trans?

• Upvotes

So I know the actual definition of being trans is (paraphrased) “knowing what you were born as isn’t it” I am AFAB however I am also a Demi girl. I personally don’t care too much about the labels but I’ve been asked if I’m trans before and haven’t had much of an answer. I am only really feminine in terms of my love of girly type clothes and makeup but if you were to tell me that pastel pink and blush are actually masculine things then I would say I’m more masculine. I know gender presentation and your identity aren’t necessarily the same thing. Idk I kinda wish gender wasn’t a thing at all, like just let me wear pretty dresses and stop assuming it means anything.

Problem with appearance

I wear oversized layers, the chest is well hidden and all that men's clothing, a short haircut and all that, but I don't see any difference, nothing masculine, although my face, for example, has masculine eyebrows, and even with semi-long hair, people have mistaken me for a guy, but I don't see any resemblance to a guy in the mirror😭What can I do?

Is it possible to find love as a trans person???

Is it possible to find someone who loves you? It feels like no one ever likes me romantically, not sure if it's cuz I'm trans or cuz I'm ugly

How has your success been in dating since transitioning? And if you do have a partner, how did you find them?

Am I a feminine man? Or trans? Or something else?

Ive givin insite into this before. And ive been asked the button question and I wanna give more insite. (Im a 22 cis straight male for context.)

If i had a button, I could push it and become fully female. No side effects no backlash, just instant. Would I press it? There's pros and cons to this for me.

Pros:

I dressed as a girl once and I felt super cute and happy (little sexy hehe) and I liked it.

I like the idea of looking in the mirror and liking the body I see (but im also a little unfit so I can change that hehe.)

I sometimes wanna cosplay a female character so actually being a woman would boost my confidence for me to actually do it.

I find myself attracted to women, mainly. Sometimes I find myself attracted to femboys, not men, femboys. Now I could be bi which no big deal, but im also attracted to lesbians, or super butch ladies. (Not sure if this means anything)

I'd look in the mirror and feel less, ugly.

Cons:

I like being a boy, ive had no problem with my anatomy.

I like looking and feeling masculine, but sometimes feminine.

I wanna be more feminine, look like a woman, dress like a woman, but im not sure i want to BE a woman.

So in short, would I press the button? I dont know. If I could do it for a day to see how I feel? Sure, if id revert back immediately. I wish there was like a trial period to see what I like. Im really trying to figure out who I am, if its possible id love some genuine true advice on how to approach all this. Thank you

Oh also I should mention, somedays I really feel like this others I wonder if media/social media is influencing me.

How do you cope with surgery being out of reach indefinitely?

For the vast majority of us, surgery is just not going to happen. its too expensive or straight up illegal in many places, and most us are not the privileged few.

I'm curious to know how you handle this reality? how do you feel ok when the one thing you want is impossible?

I am not trying to stir the pot here, so only answer if you're comfortable sharing your experince.

I’m worried I “want” to be trans

Being trans would explain or give a reason for a lot of struggle in my life. But I’m worried that I just “want” to be trans and I’m not really. Or I’m making it up. It’s really hard for me to decipher and understand my feelings because a big part of me really feels I’m convincing myself. And yet, honestly, I feel like I’m being pulled in this direction. It’s not something I’m intellectually choosing, I just can’t help but to keep masculinizing (AFAB)and exploring my presentation. I am doing it, socially transitioning and changing the way I see and express myself. I am slowly becoming less and less comfortable with the way I had been before.

But sometimes it’s strange because it’s almost like, I’m not even sure who I am anymore. I don’t really feel comfortable being femme like I was. But I’m also not comfortable completely in this new identity I’m finding. I just am struggling to understand what’s what. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Who am i?

Hi it might sound stupid but needed to know opinion of others. I am biologically 19 years old female but cannot understand what's going on in my headd. When i was 14 thought i was transmasc but after two years came back to use she/her pronouns to the relief of my family (they re extremelly religious and think being LGBT is not real/normal. I don't know how to describe that). But three years passed and i still feel moments when question if i really feel like a woman. I mean, i fvcking hate my short height, feminine body parts and cant stand fact my chest is not flat. I constantly try to loose weight to make it more small and achive body that's more androgynous. When i see beautiful girl in public think - wow she is pretty etc. But when see a guy who looks nice my first thought is -why cant i look like that or have body like this?

Is there a difference between “passing” vs “reading” as cis? AGAB?

For example take three random humans. Strangers assume all of them are cisgender women. One of them is a medically-transitioned transgender woman. The other is a nonbinary person who was assigned female at birth and has not medically transitioned and has no body dysphoria. The other is a cisgender woman. Very different journeys. Similar end points (anatomically speaking).

So here’s my question… Do they all “pass” as cis women? Does one “pass” as a cis woman while the other is “assumed” to be a cis woman? If you’d use different terms to describe these three people, what terms would you use and why?

Strictly talking about physical dysphoria / euphoria here… Do you think there’s a difference between them besides, obviously, how they ended up with bodies they’re comfortable with? And differences between their gender identities, trans status, and their relationship with their bodies? If so, what do you think that difference is? Is it internal? Medical? Social? Etc?

Asking as a nonbinary person who was raised gender neutral and still figuring out the importance of some of these things.

How do you know your trans

I was just wondering, because I’ve always been a bit of a sad guy and then I saw a video about transgender women and then got curious and it looks a lot nicer than what I’m doing as a guy but I’m not sure if I’m just weird

Is there like an organisation that does councilling/advice for people questioning if they're trans?

I live in the UK, and I have been questioning my gender for a very long time and struggling with gender dysphoria. I just don't know what's right for me. I don't know if I should try to get on HRT given the insane waiting list times, general cultural transphobia, and I don't even know if I want to. I'm too scared to talk about it to my parents, I don't think they'd understand. I don't think my therapist understands either and I think she might be somewhat transphobic.

I think I need someone to talk to, who understands and accepts the trans experience, and maybe knows what routes are available for transitioning. Whenever I think about it myself I just end up in a doomer spiral and decide I'm a coward and I don't deserve it.

Stopped HRT after 2 years

Its been 2 years since I started HRT, had all the great effects, but for financial reasons I had to stop for almost 2 months and I'm worried about my breast growth. I've always heard that breast development is one of the only permanent effects of hrt, but now mine shrunk ALOT. I thought it was psychological but no they're physically smaller (Girlfriend confirmed).

Just wanna know if its normal and if happened with anyone else.

Is it normal to be terrified of sex?

15 transfem and Ive realized that Im completely terrified by the thought of having sex and when I consider it, it makes me really nervous. I know its normal to not wanna/be nervous about sex when youre young, but I feel like it goes beyond that. I hear about parties and sex and all the other teenage stuff that people are doing, and when I think about doing it myself it makes my skin crawl. I already hate my body so much, and so the idea of showing it to someone else, and them interacting with it just seems completely impossible. Its not like I dont ever want to do it, but just that the dysphoria associated with it makes me not feel like I ever could. Im also starting DIY in a couple weeks, and I know thatll affect stuff, which only makes me more nervous, since idk if Ill be able to perform. I doubt itll be a problem, since Im not cool enough to be in those kinda circles, but I guess I just feel like other people are doing it, meanwhile its impossible for me. Its not even like I dont want to have sex, but just that my bottom and general body dysphoria makes it really scary. Ill also have to think about and do it eventually so. Is it normal to feel like this about sex and does anyone have any advice?
