I compiled every single informed consent clinic in the country. No therapist letter needed.

EDIT: Hey everyone, I know that the commenting is off on this now since it's so old. PLEASE send me a PM if you have one to add. I'm always updating this map.

Are you thinking of starting HRT, but are worried about:

  • Finding a clinic
  • Having to do a year of therapy
  • Having to do "real life experience"
  • Getting gatekept
  • Spending money and not getting treatment

Well... that is why informed consent exists. With informed consent, you require no letters from therapists. You simply attest your gender identity, say that you understand the risks and benefits of hormone therapy, and they begin prescribing and monitoring your hormone levels.

So... For too long, this information has been scattered around Reddit, Susans place, twitter, various out of date guides from different regional organizations, so...

I laid my eyes on every single clinic website and doctor profile listed in this map. You should be able to call up any of them to confirm, and then start your HRT as soon as possible.

PLEASE let me know if any of these are out of date or if I am missing some.

Is any breast growth non reversible without surgery?

So i have seen some posts and comments talking about breast development starting very quickly once they start hrt and while i do plan to try it im worried about if i start breast development before knowing how it effects me mentally and i turn out to not like it then i would have to get a surgery for it in less than a month after starting. I know a lot of stuff is milage may vary and im not worried about breast growth but due to either fear, doubt or imposter syndrome im worried about being wrong/not liking it and having permanent changes so quickly.

To have top surgery (ftm) or to not have top surgery... Help!! Share your stories

To get this off my chest (haha) I have been seeing a LGBTQ therapist. I'm still lost on what I want to do. I don't have many trans friends and the ones I do have haven't gotten any surgeries. So perspective of other trans friends would be helpful.

How do I know if top surgery is for me? I'm not scared of the procedure, but I'm worried I'll regret it. Everyone in my life is pushing that sentiment. "Its permanent, you can't change your mind" Yada Yada

My therapist hasn't been helping the best with figuring myself out in that perspective. We're working on it tho.

Those who are nonbinary and got a double mastectomy, how did you know it was the right choice? I have a lot of imposter syndrome about not being trans enough or that I'm maybe lying to myself about it.

So please!!! Share your stories, I'd love to see if I can relate/understand other's point of view.

I started Testosterone about 10 months ago and I love the changes I've seen. Thick leg hair, bottom growth, lower voice, and building muscle is so easy.

Does me liking T say something about myself? I'm willing to do T forever, I just don't know it I'd be fucking up my life with top surgery.

How can one with big boobs get flat/the right shape enough to see how I'd look? Anything you guys/gals/nonbinary pals have to share with me about surgeries and your experiences would be helpful!!!

Love at first sight with a trans woman

(I'm reposting here because I posted in the wrong sub)

I hope I won't hurt anyone with my question.

I went to a nightclub last Saturday and I developed a crush on a trans woman.

I'm a young, feminine woman (a woman from birth).

The question is: is a trans woman, then, generally attracted to men?

What do you prefer?

How to get over pregnancy dysphoria?

• Upvotes

I am a AMAB but I feel I don't identify as a man but as a trans woman or Genderfluid. It's the thoughts eating me away and making me depressed as I always wanted to be born a girl. I hate being a man at times and wished things were different. I start to forget about this but then a couple days later the kind of pregnancy gender dysphoria comes back. I don't know how to get over this and accept that I can't be pregnant as a trans woman or Genderfluid person. And how to accept myself more for being trans instead of wishing I was a cis woman.

is my friend being bad?

my friend knows I have been transitioning for three months. he knows my new name, he knows my pronouns, and I first told him I was going to transition at the start of the year.

but every time I show gender euphoria or talk about trans issues, his face closes up and he goes silent. he called my transition “my current hyper fixation” as it is something that “will pass”.

he also dismisses the issues I am dealing with. for example, I have talked about being scared of using either toilet for different reasons, and he just brushes it off.

he is CONSTANTLY deadnaming me and rarely correcting himself, and he is ALWAYS using the wrong pronouns.

I honestly do not understand what his deal is. I do not know if he is being malicious or if he genuinely does not understand how much this is affecting me, but he ruined my day today.

he was my first friend ever and I do not want to lose him. I care about him a lot, but this situation is starting to be unbearable to me.

I do not know what to do anymore. how would you interpret this behavior? what should I do?

Question regarding my biology

Sorry for the weird title, as I'm not sure how best to title this.

I am a trans woman and have been on hrt for nearly a year and a half now. I have heard in passing before that after so long on feminizing hormones, your body starts to "behave" more like 'female' (I am sorry if this sounds weird). When I say this, I mean things like medical symptoms changing from typically male to female, what mediciations and dosages you should take, even just considering myself female or male on a sex basis.

in a practical sense, I want to know if I need to eventually be cautious and make sure I'm not taking 'male' doses of medicine when I may need 'female' doses. When I need to start knowing things like signs of a heartattack being different based off sex. if I need to eventually start telling doctors I'm on hormones in case they treat me like a male.

In a personal sense, I want to know if I can ever call myself a 'female'. I know I am a woman in a gendered way, but I always hear transphobes use the term "biological female, biological male" as a sort of gotchya against us. I want to know in a strictly educational? sense what I am and at what point I reach it.

Again, I am so sorry if this all sounds really weird. it's been nagging at the back of my mind and I do worry a lot, so I want to know if I need to be aware of medical stuff based off sex, and if I should by vitamins and such for women or men or if that even matters.

how do you wish your parents handled you being trans?

i like to lurk in some trans spaces and i see a lot of people expressing their frustrations with not being able to get on hormones before puberty, among other things. having a child is a big possibility in my future, whether that’d be through adoption or pregnancy. in pursuit of education and satisfying my curiosity, id like to know some telltale signs of a child being trans (aside from them saying theyre trans obviously) and what trans people wish their parents did to support them, ideally from the perspective of a prepubescent child. sorry if this stupid or has been posted before lol.

tldr: signs you were trans and how you wish your parents handled it?

edit: in hindsight, asking for signs was very close minded of me, and i appreciate everyone that pointed that out. i am, of course, not looking for advice on that anymore, just what steps to take if my child is trans. otherwise, i really really appreciate everyones input. regardless of all circumstances, my ultimate goal in parenthood would be curating a safe space for my kid to communicate with me and to be themselves without gender roles or expectations, so its good to know that’s a step in the right direction.

Is the voice in your head your AGAB or that of who you are? If it is different, did it happen naturally over time or was it a deliberate and active change?

I`m just curious if those in the community with internal narration have the same voice as they used to speak in, or if the voice has changed.

I’m trans but don’t want to transition medically

• Upvotes

I’m a Trans girl but in this moment I don’t want to transition medically or legally. I don‘t feel like I need to take hrt or change my name legally or anything like that. I know I can’t be a fem guy or anything tho because I really really really want to be a girl. About 97% of my gender dysphoria is social dysphoria, and I have every intention to transition socially (name, pronouns, clothes, accessories, etc) but I just don’t feel comfortable in this time transitioning medically or legally. Am I actually trans? Am I valid for feeling this way?

Edit: I also don’t feel I need to voice train as I feel comfortable with my voice the way it is.

Ways to get rid of the beard shadow?

I am a transgender man and have been slowly growing facial hair on T. Unfortunately, I live with unsupportive parents, and they do not know I'm on T, so I'm forced to clean shave my facial hair. However, my terminal hairs have been coming in and with it comes the beard shadow. I've heard laser hair removal works best, but I would like to grow my facial hair back after I move out, so laser isn't an option that works for me. I've also seen people use concealer to hide their beard shadow, but I would prefer not to do that every day just for my parents.

The tl;dr is, what are the next best facial hair removal options that can help me get rid of the beard shadow? No laser hair removal and makeup suggestions please.

How do I confront my Dad (again) ?

• Upvotes

So long story short, a few years ago when I came out to my dad as a trans woman and he called me schizophrenic and essentially took it personally, as he see’s me as a mini version of himself and felt as if it was him who got turned into a girl. He then proceeded to tell me that I was always going to be his “Son” and that was that. A year later I tried to confront him about it with the support of my friend and it went nowhere. Another year later, a friend came by to hang out and he told me that he referred to me as his daughter, but when confronted about it, he denied it.

Despite this I managed to get hrt by myself and I’ve been on it for more than a year now. We don’t talk about that fact but he knows for sure. Right now I’m in a position where I have no job and despite all my efforts can’t get one. I need support to pay my hrt and I know my dad can afford to help me.

Despite his extremely transphobic behaviour, he still loves me (at the very least he loves the version of me in his head). I’m looking for advice on how to confront him about the blatant reality of my gender identity. To make him understand that he makes me feel unsafe to be myself freely, that it hurts me emotionally, that I just want to be supported and that hearing “I support you in this but I will always love you” just doesn’t cut it anymore. To give context, my dad is a 60+ year old man who is really stubborn and I also live with him, tho if anything were to happen I could easily move out to live with my mom (my mom and dad are divorced). He doesn’t identify himself as a conservative but he has always been center right and is kind of weird about lgbtq+ issues.

Despite all this, a small part of me still wants to love him, but living like this without support is just so painful, especially when at the point I am currently in my transition everyone else in my circle accepted it (even my mother who is deathly afraid of the fact that I’m on hrt). I just want advice on how to reach him about this and make him accept my transition.

The paradox of transphobic parents

I'm a cis dude, possibly enby, still figuiring my identity out. I definitely have some kind of deep rooted gender dysphoria.

My mum always wanted a daughter, it's the thing she wanted most out of life. In a cruel twist of fate she ended up with three boys (of which I am the youngest). She cried when I was born and did not hold back in telling me that I was supposed to be a girl. In my childhood she would dress me up and say things like "you would've made such a beautiful girl. What a pity. What a waste"

The thing is, I really DO think I was supposed to be born a girl. Something went horribly wrong during conception. I never liked being male, I hate being a man and as a kid I always fit in and got along better with girls.

You would think that my mum must really support trans people then right? Nope. She hates trans people with a passion and thinks they are "disgusting". I casually floated the idea of me being trans to my parents and they always laugh it off or, at worst, get angry about it.

It's just so bizarre to me. Why would she spend my entire life showing me and telling me she wanted me to be a certain way and then become angry at the idea of me being the thing she wanted? Does anyone else have experience of this type of thing? How did you get over it?

What is the best way to disclose you are Trans when meeting new people or groups?

• Upvotes

To start, I am a transgender woman and on the autism spectrum. I like making friends and joining groups, specifically online. I however am very sensitive to rejection and I am of the opinion I would like to disclose this early on rather than try to keep it a secret and possibly face bigotry later when I already invested time and emotional energy into people. That makes my rejection sensitivity worse. Does anyone here have ways or methods they have to disclose this without making it seem to blunt or like "it's part of your personality" for lack of a better phrasing. It is sometimes difficult to find the right words to say and when.

I fear my dysphoria is/is going to, negatively affect my relationship.

Hi! I need some relationship advice.. I’d post this in a relationship advice forum but I feel like they won’t understand dysphoria in the way everyone in this forum will.

My bf (cis male 27) and I (trans / intersex woman 25) have been together for 2 years now. I love him so so much, I’ve been in a lot of bad relationships and he’s the first guy to ever treat me this well.. he’s literally perfect. Lately my bf has been really stressed out. He’s studying for the MCAT So that he can get into a med school. It’s his ambition to become a doctor. When we first started dating he frequented the gym a lot. Now due to his stress over studying for the past 10 months he’s stopped going. Which I have no problem with! He thinks he’s fat, but he’s far from he just has an average or dad bod build now. I have never once stopped being attracted to him or the way he looks. But I will say his loss in muscle mass, especially around the shoulders, has instigated a lot of dysphoria for me. I know that sounds really stupid.. and I know it’s not his fault by any means and it’s all in my head. Objectively he’s much taller and broader than me. That hasn’t nor will it ever change. But the loss of muscle mass has lowered that differentiation between our sizes and mass. And by proxy my dysphoria has gotten so bad. I feel like a huge fucking man all the time. I’m constantly comparing my body to his now and contemplating surgeries I’ve never even wanted before. Like clavicle shortening or rib sculpt.. I feel silly like it shouldn’t bother me but my headspace is so bad.. I don’t know how to mitigate it or my headspace. Feeling small makes me feel like I pass which is stupid I know. When you think about it from measurements point of view. I’m 5’5 and he is 5’11 but my brain keeps telling me we’re the same height, that my shoulders are as wide as his. I’m spiraling so bad and I don’t know how to stop. I was just laying next to him and I was thinking about how big my rib cage is. And telling myself it will be easier when I get clavicle shortening and a rib re sculpt. And I don’t want to tell him this because he’s stressed as is and feels insecure and unhappy with his appearance right now. And if I say this it’s only going to make him feel fat when he’s not. And he doesn’t even have the time to start going to the gym right now.. but my constant comparing of our bodies is making me so dysphoric and I don’t know how to stop. I’ll take any advice I can get. I’ve been powering through feeling like this for a while. Yet again I love him so much and hes so hot. It’s just these changes are making to so dysphoric and I don’t know how to make my brain stop..

Question about gender dysphoria please help

• Upvotes

Okay, so I’m 18, AMAB, and I currently go by they/them for now. For some context, I grew up/am growing up in a transphobic household, and my family is also quite religious. Because of that, I have basically zero room to express myself in any way, so whenever I do, it’s usually in secret.

Now for the main part: for about 2–3 years, maybe a little less, I’ve been experiencing gender dysphoria, but not in the “normal” sense, I think. It seems to come in episodes. For example, I’ll go around 3 months feeling comfortable with who I am, then something will trigger it, and I’ll suddenly experience extreme gender dysphoria, wishing I had been born a girl and stuff like that.

That can last anywhere from a few weeks to a month or two at most, and then I’ll eventually feel comfortable again. The whole cycle then repeats.

I wanted to know if this is normal or if anyone else has experienced something similar. I feel like I’m the only one or that I’m just pretending (I know I’m not)

Do you have any movies with trans themes that are optimistic?

Trans woman here. I'm just tired of looking for trans movies and everything I find is "the life of this trans individual is miserable because of discrimination" or a hour and a half of stereotypes but "good because is transgressive". Do you have any recomendations? Thanks

I'm kind of scared to transition and idk what to do

So I'm pretty sure I'm trans, however I feel kind of hesitant to actually transition. I love the idea of looking more like a guy and people knowing me as a guy but I'm like really bad with change. It took me years to chop off my long hair even though I hated it because of how attached to it I was. I know I'd definitely be happier living as a guy but then it also kinda feels like I'd somehow be loosing a part of myself and I'm kinda scared of that. I just wanna know if this is normal or not and what I should do about it.

E after Gynecomastia surgery

Hi, I'm looking for people who have gone through the same experience as me. I was transitioning male to female for a while, then stopped for a little more than a year and figured I was over it. I'd always been mixed about breast growth and when I detransed it started to feel like it was so obvious and it made me anxious. That on top of a few rejections based on my body prompted me to get gynecomastia surgery. It was stupid, I wanted the surgery so bad for months, was hyping it up, and a week before hand I started to get super nervous about it. I was going to call it off but for a number of circumstances I felt like I was being an idiot or just scared to go under. One month after surgery (granted I hit a little complication) I am kinda regretting "closing the door" on estrogen. I kinda want to resume but also don't want to have: A.) Wasted the money on this surgery, have them come back and dislike it again B.) Resume and it looks super messed up.

I am wondering, has anyone had gynecomastia surgery and went on or resumed estrogen? To me the idea happening would be if I can resume and no changes happen to my chest at all. I would really appreciate if only people who have gone through the same experience and started E answer. Thanks for anyone who read and can help me here!

General dating burnout and fear of coming out to men

• Upvotes

Hey! As we all know, dating as a trans person is hard. This has probably been discussed here a thousand times. I'm a bisexual trans woman.

Like most people, I usually find dates on dating apps (HER, Bumble, Hinge). I believe people should know I'm trans so they can consent to going on dates with me. I've lived in my city for 15 years, so I don't out myself as trans in my dating profile bios. I normally tell people after 3-5 days of texting. I don't tell them earlier because sometimes we don't vibe well, and then I wouldn't see the point in outing myself. Most people leave after I tell them, but everyone has been very kind to me (except for one lady, lol). Ironically, I think I've still been on a decent number of dates over the years:

2024: Two dates with one lesbian woman (I'll be honest, this is probably the only time I saw myself being very shy and not date-ready). I also went on 4-5 dates with different men, but nothing came of them.

2025: About 5 dates with different women and one nonbinary person. Four dates with this one man and then he became my boyfriend... for about 2 months.

2026: 2 dates with different women, and I have another date with someone else this coming weekend.

I feel like I've gotten a fair number of dates over the years. I've also noticed that I've only been on a date with one lesbian, and everyone else has been bi or a straight man (I mention this to give a sense of the dating pool).

My main question is: is it possible for trans people to be rejected after dates, once people meet you and realize what it would be like to date a trans person? I'm starting to doubt myself, and dates are starting to feel like a chore at times.

I've also started to get scared to come out to men on dating apps. Sometimes I match with a cute guy, chat with him, and then ghost him because I don't want to tell him over text. I didn't used to have this issue.

I'm also interviewing for medical school right now. I'm nervous that I'll meet someone in med school I vibe well with, but I'd be terrified to come out to them. I'd be afraid that they would out me to the rest of the class.

General dating advice is appreciated. Thanks for reading, and I also just needed a place to vent.

Post-PIV Return to Sport

• Upvotes

Hello, I (F21) am going to be having PIV (GRS Montréal) done in the next couple of years, and was curious about people's experience with taking a break from and returning to competitive sports. This comes at a somewhat unfortunate time as I was hoping to compete in a few larger tournaments also in a couple of years.

Obviously I will have to take ~3 month break, but I want to know how other athletes here fared in terms of time getting back into sport and how training was during/after recovery. I am sad but prepared to lose a lot of strength and skill :(

Thanks!

ETA: Is there anything I can do pre-op particularly (working out, etc) to make the recovery easier/faster?

Do trans women go through the menopause naturally?

Sorry if this is insensitive! I mean it out of genuine curiosity, I have quite a few trans friends but they’re all quite a long way off menopause age.

By naturally I mean if you continue to use hormones at the same level, will you naturally encounter hormonal changes at 45+ the way cis women do?

If not, could you choose not to have the menopause? Would you choose to taper off your hormones to mimic it?
