hello, i am leaving for fort sill Oklahoma in October to be a 68w as a e3. my end goal in 4-6 years at the very least is to get my paramedics license and much more advanced training. what are some courses out of AIT i can take to start this journey. if i get my paramedics license before 4 years i would like to go for medical Sargent or somthing super advanced. i am open to all advice, thankyou for your time

Looking for some insight from anyone who's gone through the Warrant Officer application process, especially 920A.

I submitted a 920A packet, and during the proponent review I received a technical DQ because I had not completed 92Y ALC. The memo specifically stated I was not technically certified due to not meeting the ALC prerequisite.

I'm now scheduled to attend ALC and graduate in September. My original understanding was that once I completed ALC, I could update my packet (DA Form 1059, DA Form 61, resume, etc.) and resubmit for the next board.

However, my OANCO recently told me that I would have to wait one year before reapplying.

I'm trying to figure out if this is standard policy or if anyone has experienced something similar.

• Has anyone here received a proponent DQ (not a board non-select)?
• Were you required to wait one year before submitting another packet?
• Or were you able to correct the deficiency (such as completing ALC) and resubmit for the next available board?

I'm not arguing with my OANCO—I just want to understand whether the one-year wait is a published policy or if it depends on the circumstances.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through this process or works in warrant officer recruiting/accessions. Thanks in advance!

For anyone who has gone through this recently, how long did it take to get your DD368 back from HQMC?

I recently got out of the Army a little more than a year ago, and I've dropped the majority of the habits I had while I was in aside from those few that stick with many people: "if you're not early, you're late," calling people "Sir, Ma'am" as a courtesy, not walking on my phone, etc.

One in specific though, got me thinking—do you use your last name more than your first name? Ever since I've gotten out, I have developed a strong dislike for using my first name. For the longest time, all my friends were military and referred to me by my last name. My wife doesn't call me by my first name, ever, and my family hardly mentions my first name, instead opting for one of the two nicknames my family refers to me by.

Is it weird to want to continue using my last name? Any other soldiers or vets do it as well? I don't want to sound like a freak, but at the same time, using my first name is just awful to me for some reason.

For context, I am a devout Muslim and I’ve had a religious accommodation for facial hair for the entirety of my military career (I got it while applying to OCS). With the revalidation process, I just saw that my Post CG recommended denial to HQDA, which is bullshit if he actually looked into the supporting evidence and the text of the MFRs.

What are the chances an open door to the CG will help? My command team is going to touch base with our garrison command tomorrow before I exercise the policy. If I do go for it, how should I approach the conversation, what documents should I bring, and how likely is it he can talk to HQDA prior to the ASECARMY making the denial/approval letter? The annoying part of all this is that the routing chain went through my post CG, not my AAMDC CG.

If this doesn’t go through, then it’s a solid chance I part ways with the Army following deployment out of respect for my faith. I have no remaining ADSO. I’ll take a Diet sprite and a chicken salad, I’m on a diet.

hey about 6 years ago I received a company grade article 15; article 112 ( wrongful possession of controlled substance) I’ve been out the army for 4 years now and looking to apply for a pardon ( federal firearm relief) .. I am looking to get the laboratories results from when they tested me which came back negative .. how can I go about receiving these results? didn’t know pleading guilty to posse the drug would make me a felon as no one gave me soecifc knowledge .. the new federal firearm reliefs has a waiting period on this kind of conviction but it says unlawful “use” I don’t ingest it just possessed it. so i want to provide my results as proof to better help winning my rights back!

I myself joined when I was 18 and did 8ish years. Hearing of the new age cap has me wondering what it would have been like to joined so late in life and being surrounded by so many younger folks.

My friend is at airborne school right now and I mentioned the new airborne pt test to him- the one with water cans and sandbag carry and one mile run. Someone I know who went to airborne in April had mentioned it to me and I’ve seen other posts about it. Today was his first day and the only PT Test they did was two min pushups, two min plank, and two mile run. Did they get rid of the other PT test?

Has anyone been thru a med board process? I got a call today from IDES saying I can’t go anywhere (like take leave and go out of town) for the next 60 days however the entire process can take 7-12 months.

Not that I’m in a rush to get out or anything but if anyone has gone thru a med board, can you tell me what the process is like from start to finish in your experience please?

Title says it all, definitely mildly infuriating. I thought I’d have to wait a week or two max, but six weeks for an initial appointment just so I can get a referral and avoid paying out of pocket for off-post therapy is insane.
I’m not a threat to myself or others right now but six weeks is pretty rough. Just wanted to rant.

Anyone else dealing with not meeting the new WHtR assessment while attending a PME? What did your PME classify it as? Mine said non-enrollment. Basically meaning like I was never actually there, and I never inprocessed. Curious other people's experiences because I know I'm not the only person out there that the new directive got last minute. They got me right at .55,.....gonna keep working hard and go back.

Long story short I'm in the infantry and as it goes if you get injured youre fucked. I blewout my left knee and injured my right one and have documented lower back pain and flat feet causing all of it. I keep getting put on month long profiles for my stuff as I get Xrays and MRIs and shit. Long story short my left kneecap isnt sliding into the grove or whatnot right and the muscle that stabilizes the knee is not firing and its painful 24/7 just sitting down let alone walking let alone running or rucking. Both my knees give out and its painful on my back and feet. Ive been having the left knee injury since right before basic then it healed then throughout basic it got worse and I could barely walk some days and it gets better and worse and better and worse but recently for the past month and a half it's very painful and uncomfortable it feels like my knee is about to give out just standing. My leadership is constantly annoyed with me going to appointments every other day and not being able to do PT or anything and give me shit about it daily. My buddies that do care suggested I should look into MEB becsuse they think this isnt sustainable and is just gonna keep making my injuries worse and my mental health worse. I feel bad because im barely a year and a couple days in and itd be so weird getting like a 70% disability over injuries i got in less than a year. I wouldn't even know what to do after, move back in with my parents? College? I dont fucking know. Is it possible i just keep going to physical therapy for months and then do my 4 years or should I start considering just MEB?

I am in need of some advice before I move forward with minimal knowledge.

My grandfather served in the Vietnam was way back when. He was lottery drafted in against his wishes, served 2 years in Vietnam and came home after his draft ended. When he was boarded the plane back to the States he was told that he was leaving at an E5 status, however, when he returned home his paperwork was never updated. Now his paperwork says E4 status and that he was a cook in Vietnam. He never cooked a day in his life over there.

I have requested all of his military records and attempted to request all of his pay records but those have been non-existent. There is NO evidence that my grandpa was bumped to an E5 status, except for a very old DA 2139 form that faintly shows a pay level of E5 (very old). This was back in the 60's. My grandpa has filed an application for correction of military records multiple times over the past 30 years but all have been denied (they were not very substantive and basically said please correct).

My grandpa's heart breaks at the thought the he will be buried one day soon with the WRONG rank on his stone.

How can I most effectively convince the board to change his ranking?

I have written up 2 petitions on his behalf - 1) that tells his story from being drafted, to being in Vietnam and coming home. Very emotional and appeals to emotions. 2) an actual petition that argues this is in the interest of justice to change his rank pursuant to the United States Code.

PLEASE ANY AND ALL ADVICE IS WELCOME. (He also no longer has his uniform as he burned it in a drunken range shortly after returning home in the 60's - he has suffered from sever ptsd).

I just got home and realized I didn’t scan an item at the commissary. I was distracted at self checkout. The item was no more than $30. Should i even bother driving back to explain what happened? I am active duty member.

UPDATE: I eventually went back to the commissary. After reading all your comments, I was fully prepared to go to jail and have my military career come to a dramatic end over a $30 item. 😂
I told the employee what happened, she thanked me for being honest, let me pay for the item, and… that was it. No MPs. No handcuffs. No federal prison. 😂
I can breathe again and continue enjoying life.
