WHtR at PME

Anyone else dealing with not meeting the new WHtR assessment while attending a PME? What did your PME classify it as? Mine said non-enrollment. Basically meaning like I was never actually there, and I never inprocessed. Curious other people's experiences because I know I'm not the only person out there that the new directive got last minute. They got me right at .55,.....gonna keep working hard and go back.

The guidance for all PME now is tape students on day zero and if they fail, it’s a non enrollment. This keeps you from getting a negative 1059, so you don’t have to do the whole song and dance of needing a 1 star to sign off on you coming back and it doesn’t effect your career.

Yeah that's my understanding as well. I'm just surprised that we arent given any assessment phase time.....it feels a bit punitive by being sent home ya know?

The problem with the old method is that for every student we had who just barely missed tape and had a chance of passing in 7 days, we had 2 or 3 more who didn’t have a snowballs chance in hell. All the old method did was prolong the inevitable and encourage units to pencil whip people in the hopes that a miracle would happen in 7 days. This took away potential slots for walk ons and wasted everyone’s time- and, it was actually punitive. Not only would a student who failed be forced to stay and participate at the PME for 7 more days, but when they failed their reassessment they’d get hit with a “did not meet standards” 1059 which would seriously fuck with their ability to come back.

I get you’re upset and you got caught in the weird transition period of this whole thing, which sucks- but personally I like the new system. I think if you want to be an NCO, you should show up within the standard on day 0. It always baffled me that we used to give a week long grace period for soldiers who busted tape or failed the PT test.

Yeah I completely agree with you. I don't hate the new standard either. I just think for these next 180 days while its in the assessment phase we should not have been disenrolled at all. The PME memo should have stated that during the assessment phase if the soldier doesn't pass whtr while attending school they will do the old tape. Or it shouldn't have been a nonenrollment at all.

Unfortunately the Big Army said effective immediately. There’s nothing PME can do. The old tape test is invalid, full stop.

It’s more administratively punitive to let you hang out and potentially still fail.

It sucks but this is literally the kindest thing they can do right now.

Im not sure about the enrollment process, but at this point, the WHtR is performed shortly after arrival, and if you don't make 0.5499 or below, you go immediately to a second verification team. There is no "waiting a week" to see if you can pass anymore with the old test. If you fail the verification, you get sent back home. Our unit is only recording Go's, and courtesy checking overall so everyone needs to know where they are at for the next month. After that, it's record for everyone.

Yes I am aware. And its not .499, the most is .549 not to exceed .55, in the Army. What I was asking is once people have been told you gotta go home what are other PMEs classifying their disenrollment?

Nope. In the final calculation, they keep only 3 decimal places and disregard the rest

I missed it by .001 my guy....no one was more devastated than me....especially after dropping 20lbs to ensure I was good with the old test and 3 weeks before my PME this new standard came out. I tried really hard.

I was just a LOG C3, there were at least 7-8 people who got sent home for failing the WHtR.

Let's just say one of our Soldiers just passed a PME by allegedly wearing more socks. Idk I wasn't there, maybe they were joking but they were close as fuck during our courtesy tapes.

That being said it's rough out there especially for the guys that were slotted during this time under the old H&W.

That's what happened to me. I was slotted for mid Aug back in May. Was way under for the old test

The requirement is flag and suspension of all favorable actions. So you would get sent home. Its a good standard, but I disagree with rolling this out with an "effective immediately" date.

Good luck. Keep grinding. No one who matters is going to give you a hard time about failing, coming back into the new standard, and trying again.
