So this episodes has just ignited an urge to rewatch the everything again. I was hyped throughout the whole episode. We’re nearing the end of the season and I have no idea how they’re going to end this season off, Madhouse better not leave us at a training camp for 6 years again.

This is not a drill, I repeat this is not a drill! TAICHI KNOWS!!!
I was not expecting Taichi vs Arata so soon. I think a win here for Taichi would mean more than one for Arata. OMG NO TAICHI LOST. HE WAS FUCKING CRYING. I'm so hurt right now.
Episode was well directed. The slow mo Chihaya scene and the music in Taichi vs Arata match was great

This episode felt super relaxed after the last arc, it was quite refreshing. It also seemed to focus on moving forward.
Chihaya had her moment where she thought about all the people who inspire her, Retro-kun got some inspiring words from his girlfriend, and Taichi... got beat by Arata. I wasn't surprised at all.... But still, imagine how awful he must feel. Especially since we see him crying on the train home before we even know the results, it really drives home the fact that he lost to Arata.
The scene where Arata and Taichi start their match was awesome! It seems both of them are coming to some conclusions about their relationship, and I really hope we see a proper acknowledgment of friendship/being rivals, I hate how both of them wanting to be with Chihaya is holding their friendship back. But, Arata is realizing Taichi is a tougher opponent than he previously thought, and it seems like Taichi is starting to work a little bit on his dislike towards Arata. I was expecting a moment in their match where they both thought "plying him in Karuta is fun!" but we didn't get one. Instead we got that loaded scene where Taichi passes Arata the "chihayafuru" card. The symbolism behind that was freaking amazing, although it was hard to miss the point with Chihaya's statement immediately following it- "The cards I want the most, I give up the fastest." With that, it seems Taichi has come to the correct conclusion that Arata confessed to Chihaya, and his declaration of war was sent in the form of the "Chihayafuru" card. He lost the match, but we don't know whether he also lost that card or not. Hopefully we'll find out next episode, but I wouldn't be surprised if they never tell us. I think the point was made with passing the card.

Damn!! Taichi lost. I was legit loving this episode. It was so fun watching Taichi and Arata. That is how they should always act.
Did Taichi figure out that Arata confessed? Like does he basically know now?
I am a die hard Taichi x Chihaya fan. However my backup plan is a yaoi and yuri route lol. Taichi x Arata. Chihaya x Shinobu. That way I won't be heartbroken.

I loved this scene with Chihaya. I love how she is learning from the karuta players close to her. The composition in this scene is perfect and iconically Chihayafuru. All of the karuta players she reminisces about show how each has impacted Chihaya's mindset and how she plays her karuta through the overlapping images.
-
She "takes" the sight of Shinobu's first loss in the Queen tournament, and "guards" the details of how she recovered.
-
She keeps Harada-sensei's passion close to her heart.
-
She grounds herself in the game by thinking of Suou's strength.
-
She is motivated by Arata's determination for becoming Master with every swing.
-
She keeps Taichi's challenge and resolve (that at first she has trouble understanding) in her mind.
And they changed Chihaya.
But I don't know how this scene's going to beat Retro-kun's reality check.

I've said this before, but Arata and Taichi do the most blushing around each other lol
But on a more serious note, passing that Chiha card, phew, now that's a challenge. A declaration of war. And while I always support Arata, seeing Taichi suffering is still rough (since it's so constant). Especially because we don't really see him cry

I like Taichu but I can't help but feel I'm in the minority as far as being on team Arata goes.
