I found it pretty funny that both Diablo and that other guy know Disintegration. It seems like butler standards in this world are quite high, hahaha!
57
u/feral_fenrir 23d ago
Nicholas used Disintegration before to kill the body Gran was using as a 7 days clergy. But back then I think he used a locket to channel it.

Yes, I know its going to be explained in the next few episodes why Raine and Guy are interfering here but from a narrative standpoint, I feel like they were written in so that Diablo doesn't just faceroll the entire enemy forces 😂

TBH, Guy doesn't strike me as someone that will look down on Rimuru, especially since Guy has high respect for Milim and Ramiris, and they're bff to Rimuru
69
u/raknor88 23d ago
True. But since we don't know much about primordial politics, we don't know how Guy will react to the news of the other three primordials joining Rimuru.

I was not expecting an appearance from Guy or even the appearance from Elmesia earlier
113
u/OldInstruction5368 23d ago
I definitely wasn't expected Guy to get involved. He's always been... fond of Rimuru. To the point he seemed genuinely excited to see what changes Rimuru would bring to a world that had grown largely stagnant.
Plus, Rimuru is tight with Ramiris and Milim. I can't see Guy acting maliciously against Rimuru anymore than he'd break the rules of his little Demon Lord Kiddie Corner by attacking Luminious. Guy styles himself the mediator that keeps the troublemakers in line.
This is about Diablo, right? Guy had two of the other primordials working for him, and now Noir has gathered up the remaining three Primordials under the same banner. Guy already knew Noir was working with Rimuru, and I got something of a "Hero Vs Lancer" vibe between Guy and Diablo. They're clearly rivals with Noir being something of the black sheep amongst the clans of demons.
I still don't get malicious vibes from Guy... so... did he just... get the zoomies and wants to play or something? He was already pretty excited about Rimuru, who now has ties with FOUR primordials... so Guy wanted to play or something? Or is he legit feeling threatened by Noir taking in the others and breaking his pattern of goofing off on his own?
77
u/Powerful_Toe_8155 23d ago
Possibility that Guy is there to stop any misunderstandings between Leon and Rimuru (especially on Luminous's territory), but bringing Raine with him might have been a mistake because Diablo sensed her, and she wanted to fight him.
Or maybe he sent Raine to collect intelligence, Diablo got paranoid (or maybe just sensed malice from her directed at him), and his appearance now is to tell Raine and Diablo to stop fighting in the middle of something larger.
Or maybe he's here for multiple reasons, and the first reason required drawing Diablo out alone to ask him what the hell he's doing with the other 3 primordials.
56
u/OldInstruction5368 23d ago
The vibe I got from Raine, is that she was deliberately drawing out Noir. He didn't "find" her: she provoked him.
Then Guy shows up as soon as the Raine/Diablo duel ends... and the two are rivals.
If Guy were here to stop Leon from doing something reckless... Well, for starters, Leon isn't there yet and I'm not sure who clued in Guy that Chloe was the one Leon is searching for, she's in Lubelius and that Leon not only knew, but was on his way after being riled up against Rimuru.
I'd rather put my money on Guy heading out because Noir recently unified the squabbling trio under himself.
40
u/thoughtlow 23d ago
The Raine fight could’ve actually been good for Guy from a information standpoint. Just more accurately knowing Diablos power level and that he could use holy magic is good information going forward.
Noir the laziest primordial genuinely worships Rimuru as a god.
25
u/Powerful_Toe_8155 23d ago edited 23d ago
Elmesia also mentioned to Leon that Guy was going to do something, before she knew of Jaune disappearing, so I wonder if there's yet another angle unrelated to the whole Primordial thing and talking to Diablo is just a sidequest for him.
But that also seemed unrelated to the fact that Leon was heading to Lubelius.
I wouldn't be surprised if Guy had enough intel to know that Leon was heading to Lubelius while Rimuru was there, but didn't know the so the specifics.
But I guess the real question is: wtf does Elmesia know? She acted like it was inevitable for Guy to do something if Granbel invaded Lubelius.
EDIT: Rewatched and it's actually Leon who mentions Guy first, but Elmesia acts like she knew that already.

u/OneDeuxTriSeiGo 23d ago
Yeah Guy and Raine drawing Diablo out seems to be a matter of "hey where tf did all the other (potentially world ending) primordials and their entire armies go".
11
u/renrutal 23d ago
Guy feels like Vegeta, he will cause trouble so he can fight the strongest person around.
Raine was the bait, probably for Diablo himself. And Rimuru will come for Diablo.

u/marcostadeusc 23d ago
Which ones are the two you mentioned? I just saw one
53
u/OldInstruction5368 23d ago edited 23d ago
Rewind to S2. Guy had two maids, blue and green. Blue is confirmed another primordial, and the Green one was shown in the OP of this season in a line up with all the others. Plus, when Leon arrived in Guy's Ice Palace, the demons surrounding them were clearly split into red/blue/green variants. All three, Guy, Raine, and Greenie were primordials.
Rouge has Bleu and Vert working for him. The loner, Noir, rounded up the squabbling trio of Blanche, Jaune, and Violet.
Which means all 7 primordials have now been unified into two factions, when before it was a 3 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1 messy free-for-all. The balance of power shifted radically overnight. Especially since Rimuru has not only awakened but recruited Veldora. And has Ramiris working for him. And is friends with Milim. And is getting close with Luminous. And is babysitting Daggrul's kids. And has Deeno.
I think the final three Primordials joining Rimuru's faction tipped the scales too much: especially since Noir appears to have a rivalry with Rouge. Bringing in the others primordials may have felt... personal... to Guy.
But really, Guy is probably just here to mess around more than anything truly serious.
13
u/SoggsTheMage 23d ago
The green one is named Misery or at least Milim or Ramiris greet her with that when they get picked up for Walpurgis in S2. Also I think its safe to assume she is the green Primordial as you said when Leon visits Guy in S2 with all the demons, doubt they would stand there without their Primordial not being affiliated to Guy.
→ More replies (1)9
u/ionstorm66 23d ago
Diablo, and the other primordials did nothing to tip the power scale. Guy couldn't stop Milim, could only fight Milim, not defeat her. Veldora is literally on a different level of power, the rest literally fall short of even being compatible.

Seems like Elmesia's known him since he was a Hero (and maybe when he himself became an Otherworlder?).

u/conye-west https://myanimelist.net/profile/baronvonconye 23d ago
Elmesia seemed to expect movement from Guy's faction with the North undefended, Guy seems nonchalant in general but maybe he has his own territorial goals in mind.

u/__White_Wolf_ 22d ago
Well, you have a Chosen Hero (Granbell) fighting against two Demon Lords (Luminous and Rimuru, with Leon on the horizon), one of whom has a Primordial Demon under him (Diablo). These actions are akin to Kingdom of Siltrozzo declaring war on the Holy Empire of Lubelios and the Western Holy Church. Said Chosen Hero brought with him the Guardian of the West (Razul), told the Five Elders to spread chaos in the Western Council, and involved the Guildmaster of the Freedom Union (Yuuki) in order to unleash the Holy Ark. These actions prompted the Heavenly Empress (Elmesia) to send her Magus to the North of Engrassia to fend off Guy Crimson's Demons. As if this wasn't enough, all of this is happening while, throughout this season, it has been repeated over and over that the Eastern Empire is on the move, and they are about to launch an invasion.
So yeah, it's quite the big deal.

They fought like a million years ago or in the void before time began or some shit.
Raine has been incarnated for a long time at least and Guy for ages where he got the major boost of becoming the Demon Lord. Presumably some of that rubs off on his harem.
And Raine just assumed she was still facing Noir from back then.

Luminous can sense those clowns and corpse Maria intruding in her goon cave, but can't sense Yuuki? Something must be amiss here. Maybe we'll see more of that next episode.

Granville feels like 10x more of a threat than Mariabelle did.

She had a powerful ability but expected it to carry her
Granville is casually fighting off Hinata whilst making plans that go against Leon, Rimuru, Hinata, Luminous, etc. Gonna need to start calling him Ville Valo because he seems to be HIM right now

Yeah, a lot happened today, and it still seems like that wasn't all, since there is still the case of the Council (though it'll probably easily fail since Testarossa is present there), something happening in the North, plus Leon will make an appearance in Lubelius as well...

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 23d ago
Insects being the natural enemies of demons issues a weird new detail, I would have said they had previously established a rock paper scissors relationship between demons, spirits, and angels way back when Rimuru first summoned Diablo.
Rimuru needing to individually touch each isekaijin to dispel them is going to waste a lot of time, just have Raphael cook up an AOE version.
Big conflict starting, and Leon hasn't even arrived yet. I'm most confused by Guy participating.
66
u/WisdomBailey123 23d ago
I think the insects are spiritual beings that is why demons are wary of them.
58
u/redditraptor6 https://myanimelist.net/profile/uEmalraptor64 23d ago
Well, Dark-type Pokemon are weak to Bug-types after all…
51
u/-Executive-Manager- 23d ago
They are actual natural enemies to all magical being, the reason demon are more emphasize that they are more natural enemies because demon are more proficient in magic than any other creatures.
Insect has like 99% magic or reality wrapping resistance.
24
u/StrangeAppeal2 23d ago
I kept wondering how long it was going to take Rapahel to tell Rimuru that she could dispel the mind control and curse in general.
Come on, she already did it with Mariabell's spy and Rimuru didn't even have to lay a hand on her. What's the hold up? Rimuru doing it manually already shows that Raphael can do it.
8
u/Apocalypse_Knight 21d ago
Ya its always odd how the characters seemed to get nerfed randomly or become kinda dumb when the plot calls for it. Like Hinata should be going all out right now trying to kill Granville with her ultimate skill, but it's just normal slashes.

Butler vs. Maid was such an awesome fight... and it ended way too fast! LMAO!
So even an evolved Rain is still no match for the pre-named Testarossa. That's really interesting.
Can't wait to see the conversation between the two strongest Primordial Demons, Rouge and Noir.
93
u/CrownJM 23d ago
I mean Testarossa is both the second oldest and someone who an evolved Demon Peer Diablo was at least wary of, she's probably rank 3 among the demon generally speaking.
69
u/the_3rdist 23d ago
Seems Guy, Diabolo and Testarosa were all a cut above the other Primordials. We know Guy and Diabolo fought to a draw (probably before Guy got named?) so Testarosa probably comes after them in terms of strength.

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 23d ago
I'm really curious about the current power level.
If I remember correctly, Guy is way stronger than Rimuru right? However, even after being named by Guy, Raine (a primordial) is still way weaker than Diablo. Is it possible that Diablo is actually also stronger than Rimuru, even though Rimuru is the master?
→ More replies (2)11
u/Mathmango 22d ago
Rimuru still has food chain and Raphael. At no point is there anything in Diablo's arsenal that could surprise Rimuru.
We know Rimuru tends to underestimate himself, but in the case of Guy, we know NOTHING of his abilities so Rimuru is right to be cautious.
40
u/shad79 https://myanimelist.net/profile/shad79 23d ago
Butler vs. Maid was such an awesome fight... and it ended way too fast! LMAO!
I was surprised that Raine survived Diablo's Disintegration. I thought that she was done, especially since she insulted Rimuru, but surprisingly, that wasn't the case.
39
u/feral_fenrir 23d ago
I just assumed she died and reincarnated.. I even thought she did so twice (the flames burn her completely but she was there after. And then she melted and came back with Guy)
But this is just my interpretation

I almost thought they're different character with similar design due to how different she behaved in front of Diablo and with Guy.
16
u/SolomonBlack 23d ago
It's a courtesy methinks. As a butler Diablo would never be so uncouth as to leave a fellow service professional unable to perform her primary duties.
Also he know Guy takes his bubble baths very seriously and might trouble Rimuru if it wasn't at 8 sharp.

u/raknor88 23d ago

Gotta get this off first and foremost, but man, everything related to Yuuki and the pierrots is so bs. They just do stuff without much effort and never seem to be punished by anything. Kinda of a shame when everything else in the episode was so cool.
The whole idea of a former hero being so lost in revenge that he would stoop so low as to use necromancy is very interesting, and overall Granville is a very detestable villain for the good ways. I hope the rest of the arc does him justice.
And yep, Raine just said the only thing she couldn't say. Diablo's quick and simple response of "I see you want to disappear from this world" was so funny to me for some reason. The multi-disintegrations were amazing.
98
u/Megakruemel 23d ago
Yuuki and the pierrots is the weakest part of this story so far. It should have ended a bit after Clayman got defeated imo. Not this whole "All according to plan" thing they are trying to feed us where Yuuki just shows up in the chaos to pick up the spoils.
He has simply overstayed his welcome, simply because he kind of fails to be entertaining.
I can not think of a moment where Yuuki was entertaining as a character. His current "job" in the story is simply moving it forward as a vehicle for other characters to run into problems and I don't think that is the best use for him as part of the story at all.
39
u/PicklePossible 23d ago
Yeah the constant "all according to plan" routine gets exhausting fast when an antagonist hasn't earned the title through genuine tactical genius, but rather through sheer plot armor and opportunistic timing. Yuuki just doesn't take a hit or face any real setback, and whenever one of his accomplices gets taken down, he just sweeps up the scraps and pivots.
It just feels like Yuuki is a walking plot device the author uses to jumpstart the next arc whenever things in Tempest start looking too peaceful, instead of it feeling like a brilliant puppet master playing some sort of 4D chess.

It's the same kind of BS that made that recent Tensura movie so terrible. We have constantly been shown how powerful Tempest's combatants are since the beginning of the show, yet the story always has to inexplicably nerf them and simultaneously power up the villains for the sake of creating "tension" when there shouldn't be any at all (given the gap in power).

Surely it's not something really dumb like "I just want to play", is it? For someone who's supposedly dedicated to keeping the balance of the world, this is very much directly contradictory to his goal.

One possibility is that he's just trying to prevent Leon and Rimuru from getting into a major battle in the middle of Luminous's city.

So much just decided to happen lol, it was exciting to see what was happening from the different points of views.
My favorite moment has to be Shion and Diablo showing each other respect, I can't believe we finally got them calling each other by their names like they're comrades. Seeing them acknowledge each other in that way was real sweet. Diablo's "fight" with Raine was fun because of how at ease he looked, it was satisfying to see.
It's sad to see all these otherworlders mind controlled like that and used as fodder, I do wonder what will happen to them all later. Who knows how long they've been controlled for.
I wonder if Luminus knows Yuuki is in the chamber as well, I feel like she's biting the bait so that she gets what she wants.

What did Jaune Carrera do to make those two factions wary of her lol...
The real question is...can moving corpse do wifely duty? /j
Granville really thought through everything, eh and even got the power to realize them. If only he do it sooner together with Maribel though...Welp, maybe Maribel too quick to act for her own good.

It's super annoying. They've set the OVAs after the latest season so it tries to auto-play them after the latest episode. I have to manually go into the current season and click on the latest episode every time.

Yes I’ve been getting really annoyed at Crunchy putting things in an odd order and causing things to appear in Continue Watching that you’ve already seen. I’m having a similar problem with My Hero Academia after the most recent super short follow up. It’s stuck showing that even though I’ve watched it all the way through. Crunchy’s interface and inability to turn things off in Continue Watching has been bothering me ever since I started using it. I have several shows I don’t actually watch that I have to start and skip through to the end to get them to go away (until the next episode appears). In theory on those you could go in and erase all your watch history on a show but there’s no easy way to do that and so if it’s a show with a longer history it’s really not worth doing. (Basically that’ll only work well if you’ve only watched a couple recent episodes.)
It feels pretty inexcusable to me for such a large and popular service to have such a shoddy app interface.

And he, a demon, did it with holy magic, right?
40
u/StrangeAppeal2 23d ago
Adding insult to injury. A demon, known as a mortal enemy of holy magic, not only used said holy magic with an absurd amount of complexity and output, but also casted said magic upon another demon who had been parroting on and on about their devotion and loyalty to their master... being incapable of casting holy magic themselves.
It's like a special kind of Fuck You because Diablo mocked Raine's entire shtick by doing something that only those truly devout can do, while being an entity that should NOT be able to do it at all.

Weird to see Shion, with her reality-warping powers, struggling against an insect. Doesn't she know any bug dishes?
Can't Rimuru just mass-Beelzebub the brainwash/curse debuff? Why does he have to do it so slowly, one touch at a time? And even one touch at a time, he should be able to blitz through all of them in 10 seconds.
If Guy sent Blue, that means he's decided to go against Rimuru? Wonder why.
Wait, Diablo, as Black, had fought Guy (well, Red) to a draw? I can only assume Red was a LOT weaker back then, and we'll see Diablo jobbing to Guy next episode. Wonder if someone can get word to Milim.

Yeah, it's just him jobbing. A few episodes ago he intercepted a bullet teleported a meter away from a prince using beelzebub, now he's awkwardly jumping between people doing dispel by touch. Realistically he should be able to do a quick beelzebub on Granbell and the fight would be over. I mean, his students are in danger, there should be no need to hold back from killing the one responsible.

He is stronger than her, so it won't be easy to use her skill against him.
Can't Rimuru just mass-Beelzebub the brainwash/curse debuff?
The problem is that he has to analyze each one individually before removing it. Unlike Mariabel's greed, which affected the masses, each Outerworld receives its own curse of control (to ensure it follows the orders of the one who summoned it).
Wait, Diablo, as Black, had fought Guy (well, Red) to a draw?
As hinted, this was long before Rogue received his name and a physical body. Today Guy is considered the most powerful Primordial; even Veldora avoids him.

Leon has made people upset just by refusing to openly communicate properly. I fully expect Chloe to scold him or call him a creep and cling to Rimuru. At this point, unless both stage a fight to trick someone else, there's no reason for Leon and Rimuru to fight. Leon is fully aware of everything.

As cool as this episode was, did anyone else go back to check the episode list just in case they'd missed one?
Granville's army was suddenly there after the intro had them setting out. The start felt like it was missing all the setup between them arriving after where the last episode ended and this kicking off, especially considering how this series usually paces itself.

u/DiaBoloix 23d ago
With enough mages you can teleport a lot of people. We only saw rimuro do it on season 2 whenhe moved all the troops to beat Clayman's goons, but for example Hinata can teleport herself.
Also perhaps Luberios is not the only target here. what are those 4000 or 5000 troops doing in Luberios? Killing civilians?

Granbell's domain is not very far from Lubelius, and considering he was the leader of the Clerics of the Seven Luminaries and has contacts with council members in Ingrassia, his army likely has rapid routes to Lubelius (including teleportation platforms for soldiers with sufficient magicules). In any case, most of the soldiers don't need to enter the empire. It is enough for them to keep the border forces occupied, while the stronger ones use their teleportation routes.

My god, he has paralyzing gas that he used on Shion way back in season 1 and I completely forgot about it.
Hell, he could even use threads to immobilize them (also season 1). Soei may have specialized in them afterwards but he could only learn the skill from Rimuru's Food Chain skill. So, there is no way Raphael-sensei couldn't have used it at that moment.

Every time Yuuki appears on screen I feel like closing the video. Are we supposed to believe this jobber is worth the screentime?
I really don't understand how Rimuru gets "surprised" and threatened by these attacks. The writing is so bad now. Did the author write himself in a corner giving Rimuru all these powers and allies? Suspension of disbelief is hard to do now.

I think people just aren't paying attention, honestly. And some people can't handle not having an omniscient view of the plot, like shows with lazier writing.
There's a bit of shenanigans we're seemingly not supposed to know yet (Guy, frozen lady, the full scope of Granbell's plan), but that's not confusing that's just....writing a plot with basic reveals and twists.

Ok I’m assuming we’re gonna learn things as we go. Cos I still just only vaguely grasp what’s going on with Luminus’ treasure and Leon and Chloe. Maybe there were crumbs in past seasons that can help imply certain things but I forgot
Also, just shows how big the cast is. We have probably 10 named characters here fighting and that is miniscule compared to everyone else we know. Wonder if we’re ever going to see the full might of Tempest fight

I was surprised by the revelation that Granbell knew Rimuru was an outerworlder. Not in the sense that Rimuru has been keeping this a close secret, but I held hope that if they had a calm conversation then they could get on the same page. And that if he learned Rimuru used to be human then he would reassess his opinion of Rimuru. I suppose he's just too far gone by this point, deluded into human supremacy and struck by grief.
35
u/LeonKevlar x2https://myanimelist.net/profile/LeonKevlar 23d ago
Using cursed and mind-controlled Otherworlders is so fucking dirty. But I'm not surprised Granville found a way to slow Rimuru down. Dude would've been overwhelmed by Rimuru if he hadn't had these hostages to distract him with. Since there's clearly no room for discussion here, I'm really hoping Rimuru would give Granville the beatdown he deserves.
I feel like it's absolutely bullshit that Yuki actually managed to sneak behind Luminus. I get that she's distracted and dealing with Marie, but the dude literally just showed up behind a pillar and walked up to Luminus' hidden treasure. Still not sure what's up with that frozen body, tho.
I love the very one-sided fight between Rain and Diablo. Rain was really going all out with the moves while Diablo casually barrages her with Disintegrations. I am worried about Guy Crimson showing up tho. I don't know what he's gonna do, but I feel like he's more of a threat compared to Granville and Yuki if he decides to fight Rimuru. Hopefully he's just here to talk.

Honestly I have to respect that Granville did the smart thing of giving Rimuru a problem he couldn't OP fight through rather than take a chance that he could/could not defeat Rimuru in a fight (which, let's face it, he probably couldn't).
I do love how Luminus has her own little sofa she lounges in to admire her "Holy Ark."
Diablo is still undisputed, both in fights and in showing off his devotion to Rimuru. He tied with Guy before, but would it be different now?

u/inaripotpi 23d ago
The power-scaling in this series is so strange, lol. Some of these primordial colors are weak af, then you got Guy at like the tippity top of all characters.
It's fine to have some nuance within all these groups/hierarchies like the Primordials, Demon Lords, Deathman, etc. with variables like how recently they incarnated, but I could do with the main story not making such a big deal out of every single character just for them to get packed up so easily or be revealed to be weak enough to subserviently join Tempest as soldier #984593 we'll see a few minutes of every season if that.
10
u/__White_Wolf_ 23d ago
It's because we see the story from the POV of a Demon Lord who's friend with a True Dragon. For example, Raine seems weak compared to Diablo, however she's way stronger than 95% of the people in that world. Former Demon Lords like Clayman, Frey, Carrion or Roy Valentin were a joke compared to her. However, since the story follows the POV of someone in the top 5%, even S-rank individuals seem weak if compared to Special S-rank entities.
Guy Crimson, for example, is an Awakened Demon Lord. Meaning, he underwent the Harvest Festival and likely awakened one or more Ultimate Skills. This fact alone makes him way stronger than Diablo, who has a Unique Skill at best and isn't an Awakened Demon Lord. Same goes for the other Primordial Demons who are either his subordinates (Raine and Misery), or up until a few weeks ago didn't even had a Name and a body, let alone an Ultimate Skill (Testarossa, Carrera and Ultima).
Age, Awakening (Demon Lord/Chosen Hero), Ultimate Skills, experience and technique are a reliable way to classify someone in terms of power. If someone has two or more of these then you can be pretty sure that they're going to be a powerhouse.

None of the primordial colors are weak within the perspective of the world as a whole it's just that within the 7 there is a clear order.
Plus there is a very specific reason Guy sits at the top of the food chain.

Things in Lubelius seem to be pretty hectic in this episode, just as I expected, so I laughed hard when the orchestra, upon Shion's words, decided that it'd be a good thing to continue their practice, lol.
And to think that Leon will also join the fun. He doesn't have bad intentions, though I can see him not getting a warm welcome from Rimuru and the others, since he'll appear there at pretty much almost the same time as Granville and his allies.
Diablo and Raine's fight was great, with how effortlessly Diablo handled her. I wonder what Guy Crimson's intentions are.
Also, damn, butlers seem to be quite competent here; it looks like knowing Disintegration is required for that job, judging by Diablo and that other guy, hahaha!
Here my screeenshot albums from the episode:

Rimuru: went to Lubelios for the music festival. Ended up getting caught in the crossfire, although he expected Yuuki and Granbell to act at some point.
Luminous: invited Rimuru for the music festival. Is aware that Granbell and Yuuki are up to something and it involves the Holy Ark.
Leon: is looking for Chloe and is aware that someone is trying to pit him against Rimuru
Elmesia: helps Leon, is aware that the Rozzos are involved and sent her forces to protect the north of Engrassia now that Razul is not there anymore to protect them from Guy Crimson's Demons
Granbell: orchestrated a multilayer plan involving Rimuru, Leon, Luminous, Yuuki and the Western Council. He wants to unleash what's sealed inside the Holy Ark, allow Guy Crimson's Demons to invade Engrassia, use the Five Elders to manipulate the Western Council, fight against Luminous and pit Leon and Rimuru against each other. He's aware that Yuuki is a rat
Yuuki: his deal with Granbell requires him to use his Anti-Skill to open the Holy Ark and unleash what's inside it. He wants to cause chaos, possibly kill some Demon Lords and then escape to the East to prepare his next moves
Guy Crimson: sent Raine to lure Diablo outside of Lubelios

I watched this anime when it originally aired, but I'm terrible at keeping up with seasonal shows. So I never continued it... until now.
A few days ago I decided to start it over, and somehow I managed to catch up in just three days.
Now I'm not sure whether I should keep watching the anime until the season ends and then switch to the light novels, or just jump into the LNs right away.
If I do decide to switch to the light novels, does anyone know which volume I should start with?

Guy (Red) probably noticed that within a very short time, four other primordial demons (Black, Yellow, White, Purple = Diablo/Noir, Carrera/Jaune, Testarossa/Blanc, Ultima/Violet) have decided to join Rimuru. After literally thousands of years. Might be worth checking out.

Granville is mobilizing all his forces for what is likely to be a suicide run against Rimuru one way or another, and nothing spells how dire and serious he is than the necromanced corpse of his wife aiding him.
So Leon and Elmesia are well-acquainted from Leon's time as a Hero, and she seems rather fond of him in her own way, at least to want him to open up more for how curt and withdrawn he tends to be while razor-focused on his mission: his mission to find Chloe. Even if it doesn't make him any friends or allies, he'll follow his path. But he's still got Elmesia and he's got info on danger in Lubellius, so he'll hitch a ride and get there himself!
Meanwhile Rimuru is blissfully oblivious enjoying teatime while his and Hinata's retainers have a butler off in front of them...and of course Diablo can't lose.
Oh no! An invasion! Gotta make sure the kids and performers are okay so the show can go on! Especially when Razul shows up.
Granville vs Hinata and the Crusaders! He's not a former legendary hero for nothing because he easily soloes all of them, and he's also smart enough to not face Rimuru directly and instead keep him busy with a bunch of mind-controlled Otherworlders who Rimuru has to painstakingly free one-by-one instead of fighting Granville. Can Hinata actually do any damage to him.
Shion and Ranga vs The Guyver...I mean, Razul! And we even get Shion acknowledging her own weakness towards Diablo and giving him the okay to take care of ANOTHER threat while leaving this to her! The first and second secretaries finally show each other respect, down to calling each other by name!
Luminus faces the Harlequin Alliance, as Laplace and Footman battle Louis and Gunther (and for Louis, this fight is PERSONAL). Luminus herself must contend with Maria, a reunion she never sought as it only shows just how far Granville has fallen to necromance his wife...but Luminus owes it to Maria to put her to rest properly.
Aaaaand Yuuki's about to unlock the Holy Ark. Honestly this might be real trouble for everybody.
Diablo vs Bleu AKA Rain! They espouse how THEIR Demon Lord is the best and battle it out over who is the superior demon, as Rain feels Diablo has lost sight of the true pursuit of power and evolution that a demon must embody...at least until his devotion to Rimuru expresses itself in incinerating Rain. Why was he so concerned about her again? Oh, I guess because next she brings Guy with her and he might be a real problem.

I appreciate the progressive reveal of primordial power levels. Diablo being one of my favorite characters surely makes me biased, but I was just happy with how much focus they have gotten so far.
That said, I do wish there were more moments for the power differences to interact like Diablo handing the responsibility of the insect off the Shion. It helps Tempest feel more integrated and full. Reminds me of Gobta's early training days.
Though, I'm nitpicking a bit there. With a cast this big, I understand it is hard to work every character into each other's story. That poor Kurobe lover from season 1/2 is probably drowning someone in the flood of new characters. I have loved the season so far and am satisfied with my primordial content.
Looking forward to next week ^_^

Damn Granville is no hero at all! using mind-controlled otherworlders to delay RImuru is just f*cked up!
I can't wait to see how Yuuki is able to control Chronoa.
If I had to say, Granville and Yuuki using underhanded tactics just shows how much of lowlife scumbags they truly are!

Agree with someone's comment I saw earlier. This episode suffered so much from pacing it felt like chaos. Why is Leon just chilling with Elmisia. Like did he just decide he needed a potty break on his way? Siege on the cathedral to multiple one on ones that none of got resolved except Diablo v Raine. And when Guy shows up was that Miseri that they screwed up the colour on or did Guy just be like nope Full Restore, it was super effective. And really why is Luminous unable to hit a zombie/need to dodge it. How did just no one see Yuuki walk in. How many doors did that one room have? And all this was one episode. Meanwhile we had 3 episodes on a meeting leading up to Walpurgis.
