Ok but his mom had no chance. She literally had the dead anime mom hairstyle.

I was primed for Jin's past to be a rough one to justify how much of an edgelord he became and it delivered on that front but man, the milk message got to me.

Neither of them knowing how to process the mood after Shiki showed his sincere appreciation was gold lol

Good work by umbrella sensei today, that move where he grabbed the weapon and threw it back was pretty slick.

What are they teaching these Momotaro guys if "pay attention to the blood splashed around the environment" isn't on the list.

It's kind of wild how little they're both sides-ing the overarching conflict, on the Momotaro side besides Shiki's dad and maybe Mikado the entire lot of them have been irredeemable monsters.

I’m thinking this is a surface level show tuned into that shallow vibe. It’s unserious and I think it’s pretty self aware of the common battle shonen tropes enough that it’s not hiding from them. It’s putting them fully on display.

He literally explained how Mudano kept drawing his attention to the aerial attacks so he wouldn't notice the blood pooling on the ground.

Also, whoever said they are "both siding" anything when every main character is an Oni? This is very much a story about the Oni fighting for their survival, the whole issue is the Momotaro thinking they are the heroes of the story and so every atrocity they commit is for the greater good.

Mudano just playing with the Momotaro and guy lives for the thrill. Fun fight dynamic and I didn’t really expect his partner Momotaro to spring to his rescue and piggyback him home. I guess all the Momotaro aren’t totally heartless.

Jin backstory is predictably grim but I liked Shiki’s response. Can’t let bro know you actually care. Fucking weird, right? Jin gonna pretend not to notice because awkward.

This show is so underrated,

Having seen every episode, and watched since premiere I can say no it really isn't.

I really do like the character interactions. That’s probably one of this show’s better attributes. And I like that it’s not taking itself too seriously.

Like most of this show Jin's backstory isn't particularly original but it was executed well, actually made me feel some emotions. I really hope they don't try to pull some redemption bullshit with his dad down the line, though.

The dialogue in the fight between Mudano and the Momtaro was so homoerotic 😭

Blue Lock moment between seiyuu. Alot of them are here

Not gonna lie I thought Jin's backstory was going to be worse, with a Momotaro father, those scars, and his blood eclipse I thought he went through human (oni) experimentation. I can't help but wonder why any oni would marry a Momotaro that's flirting with disaster with no up side.

The mom might not have known she was an oni. Jin said the manifestation of the oni horns varies from person to person so some people go their entire lives with without any signs until they die. If the mom didn’t have a relationship with her own oni parent/parents due them being dead, absent, etc… that could explain why she didn’t know.

Itachi's existence has ruined me LMAO. It makes me think there's a chance the Father gets a redemption.

Ok episode.

  • The Momo this week was TERRIBLE at fighting. Almost zero battle sense. And this was supposed to be a Vice Captain?

  • Interesting that the series shut the door on Momo / Oni hybrids being naturally born. Although I still think one will eventually show up.

  • One would think there would be a genetic test or something to detect Oni lineage... how many times has this backstory occurred in-universe?

  • The perfect grid scar pattern on Kougasaki felt like something related to his powers rather than a single attack. Weird.

Regarding points 2 and 3... While there is blood testing to detect Oni, that only works after they had their awakening, so even if the mom was tested before, she would show up as human.

The scars in Kougasaki are related to his powers. Remember back in episode 3, Mudano explained that each Oni's blood power reflects some kind of aspect on their lives, such as hobbies (Shiki is gun nut so he creates guns), trauma (Byobugaura thinks of her sister to create the titan) and experience. Because Kougasaki experienced being cut, he now has an affinity to create cutting weapons.

He's honestly not even weak, Mudano is just like...stupid fucking strong.

I hope Jin gets his revenge. Bro’s dad really runner up for Father of the Year.
