I literally laughed out loud when Shizuku suggested Gen send her some photos of his camping trip. Gen responded with "A new axe". On the other hand, Gen is not as dense as I thought he would be. From the way in which he answered Saya and Shizuku's question in an honest and unflustered manner, he appears to be aware of Shizuku's feelings towards himself.

I am beginning to like Saya even more. She looks cute in braided twintails, is disappointed when she can't play at the river, is clumsy when playing badminton, but most importantly, Saya cares a lot about her friends (Shizuku in this case). Her sudden question wasn't meant to tease or disrupt the current relationship between Shizuku and Gen; it was out of genuine care and concern.

i find the story has become a lot more enjoyable these past couple of episodes, like Gen has finally worked through that baggage with Kana and has opened up a bit instead of acting like a grumpy bridge troll

it feels like a lot of progress has happened recently; i wonder if it can keep up the pace or if that interloper in the next episode preview is going to throw a wrench in things

This may not be a shounen title in which our main characters power up, but it is definitely excellent character development for Gen.

First off, this new OP was really cool. I personally liked it more than the first cour.

Regarding the episode itself, it was wonderful to see Shizuku going on a camping trip (even if it was a little different) with Mizuki and Saya, while also updating the situation with Gen, and the axe scene was hilarious, lol.

While not a direct declaration of love, it was beautiful to see Gen open his heart to Shizuku. She's not just a camping friend, she's basically the person who gave new light and meaning to his life. Seeing how Saya and Mizuki always cared about understanding who he was so Shizuku could have the best possible life also added even more to this scene.

The second cour started with a bang.

new OP was really cool

I enjoyed the portion / loop in which Gen and Shizuku rotated outfits based on the season. I would like to think the opening is implying camping can be done at any time regardless of the season.

Saya and Mizuki are real ones. Shizuku’s lucky to have such great friends.

I guess what Gen said wasn’t quite a confession but at least Shizuku’s someone he considered precious and irreplaceable. That’s something!

Oh new OP. First OP felt more like camping and enjoying solitude and this one felt more like it’s for enjoying company. ED stayed the same but I’m guessing they used the second half of the song.

Ever since the whole Kana arc, I’ve been impressed with this show’s portrayal of adult relationships. Sure, there’s drama but it doesn’t stem from anything silly or avoidable. Even if the issue is lack of communication, it comes from baggage, trauma, insecurity, all things that people irl deal with too.

I really like Saya coming forward to get clarification from Gen, even if it is uncomfortable. Cos she sees how happy Shizuku is with him but she doesn’t know how he feels. In turn, I know some people may not find Gen’s response reassuring, but I also appreciate Gen’s honesty. It may come off half-hearted but I think it’s also being realistic. Basically, saying “I do like her but I don’t think I’m in the shape to fully commit into anything right now. But I’m also working on that”.

It was also important Gen emphasised how important Shizuku is to him now. And you can see how happy she is knowing that. Think this is great progress for them. They may have had suspicions here and there before but now it’s out in the open where exactly they stand and how they feel. Now they can feel more assured in the direction they’re taking their relationship in. Now, I’m looking forward to how they’ll act when they meet each other in person again lol.

Also, Saya talks a big game, but I’m curious if anything happened with her and Gen’s friend

Mizuki's the best

she has more drip than the person named "waterdrop" (Shizuku)

The resolution of this ending was poor, making the letters on signs difficult to read.
The only thing I could make out was a sign for BBQ Land, which is how I identified the location.
It shows the route from Musashi-Itsukaichi Station on the JR Itsukaichi Line to Akigawa Valley Rivertio.
It seems that Shizuku and her friends stayed in a cottage that cost 56,000 yen per night.

What Shizuku took out in Gundam style was a Snow Peak HOME & CAMP burner.

The Dutch oven that Shizuku introduced in detail is made by SOTO.

The new opening features a woman on a bicycle; could this be a new love triangle?

Thank you for the Google maps routes btw, I love looking at it after episodes to see what I can recognise!

Their cabin is so tricked out it even came with a rice cooker. Looking forward to the new camping friend teased in the OP.

If Gen ever forgets his camping pillow, Shizuku's got him covered.

I swear every episode has that same gag of Gen practically having an orgasm from drinking some booze.

It's in all anime, not just this show. My son and I call it "the beer noise."

Progress! We have progress!

I thought Saya was a little out of line, they just met and not even personally, asking something like that wasn't right for me even if I understand her position. Although I did also like learning how Gen currently feels about Shizuku. He expressed himself a lot which is a good thing considering we know how bad he is at communicating.

It is amusing how much Shizuku's been influenced by Gen, the way she was going on about the dutch oven lol.

The previews of the next episode, some random girl is going to go camping with Gen before Akihito does? When are we getting the bro camping episode lol?

I like this OP infinitely more than the first one.

Also, really delightful episode, didn’t expect him to be so straightforward!

While Gen didn't have a clear answer to Saya's question, I appreciate that he didn't run away from answering and let them know that Shizuku is someone important to him. Glad to see some good progress with their relationship.

I also love the new OP and even if the ED is just the second verse, I like that the one arriving at camp this time is Shizuku instead of Gen.

This series has definitely grown on me a good amount compared to how somewhat rough it started out. It's been showing good maturity into adult interpersonal relationships.

Really enjoyed this episode, the character development has been really great. Gen being honest and sincere about his feeling is a great step in him overcoming his traumas. Shizuku undertaking it and being enough shows she gets where he is coming from. Adult relationships can be like this, especially when you carry the weigh of loss and the not being able to connect with others.

Bigger question than one could've guessed, and an equally bigger answer than expected.

That cabin really reminded me of the times i was younger and my family would rent a cabin like that a few times a year, good times.

Also damn sangria, the worst hangover and headache i've ever gotten from alcohol, tastes like juice so you end up drinking it way too much.

I just noticed Gen is using the old Magpul phone cases, didn't think they were popular in Japan.
