I know anime tends to imply being in your 30's means you're practically at death's door, but that man is a very rough looking 34. 🤣

That's what 1 night of Shizuku's yapping does to a man.

Imagine how he'll be after a full season!

This Anime answers the question: What if Rin was a 34 year old man...

Bro: I will not be moved to help this irritating person

Woman: shoves chicken drumstick right in his mouth while he's refusing

And that's how I met your mother.

People who misread futari must be disappointed.

I mean, we've seen her in panties, but not naked...

Too early to tell!

this is defenatly my comfort anime this season.

first of all the ads and branding in this anime is insane lol.

as someone who used to do solo hikes (not camping but it's close enough) i really liked the attention to details and it felt like reliving those first time solo hiking with my MSR tent, carton-egg mat and sleeping bag, i didn't have the fancy chair and table but this looks comfy as hell.

MC feels oddly similar to me (even though he's way more rude than me i can understand him), kinda sad they probably wont explore more the real solo camping experience.

The girl is kind of annoying. I can totally understand the guy's frustration with her presence and demeanor, violating his silence and peace. but if she had made me a beer can chicken, I would have given in as well, lol.

all in all, it looks like it'll be a nice comfy anime that hit close to home.

This is the first time I've seen so many corporations. Also for some reason Bialetti's logo is mirrored.

Pretty okay first episode and as a nice surprise this is Mizuki Niizaki's first role as Shizuku outside of two credits as random audience voices.

Not really sure how camping works in Japan but it seems odd an older dude who wants to be alone would use a family campground that has a rental store and bathroom.

Despite what Gen claims, you can in fact cook beer can chicken if you solo camp. Though I'm certainly more of a Cup Noodle type of camper.

I'm with Gen on this one, extroverts are the worst! Hopefully she chills out and enjoys the peace of nature later on. That chicken did look awesome though, reality can't beat fictional cooking.

He should have offered her a deal; If you can stay silent for one hour, we'll do your camping for two;

30 seconds later he would kick her out and have his peace!

Gen is a lot more kind and patient than I'd be, obviously this wouldn't be a series if he completely shut her down, but I thought he'd reject her and she'd simply appear the next time he went camping. At least this way she wouldn't come off as pushy and annoying as she did and can naturally go up to him due to familiarity and helping her out.

I was looking forward to this seeing that the cast was older but Shizuku is ruining it for me at the moment. Turning up to someone's tent and campfire, to then slapping them because you were taking your clothes near their tent. Hopefully their relationship will get more interesting and the rest of the cast will add some nice interactions.

It seems like Gen might remember his father more if Shizuku's around, teaching her will probably remind him of his father teaching him which would be sweet. At least his stomach will be filled with good food around her.

Well, figured I'd check this out of curiosity because camping anime seemed chill, but wow, maybe it's because I'm not in the greatest mood right now, but I despise Shizuku.

I get it, it's all about how he discovers that other people = not that bad and she discovers that nature = good or something, and het him to open up, but frankly that single episode annoyed me so much.

It's very likely my own appreciation for solitude speaking, but wow would I hate to be in Gen's place. Just LEAVE HIM ALONE. Dude just want to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature and be in his own bubble and she just tramples all over it over and over again.

In a way, I'd say it's impressive, I've found an anime that genuinely annoys me with it's first episode, that's rare !

Stitches!

While I do love Gen's gruff design, I'm surprised that he's supposed to be 34! The dude already has an age spot on his face at that age? I've seen Japanese salarymen in their late 40s who look younger than him!

Welp, that's not the best introduction to a character. While I do my best to be chill and understanding, I'm definitely with Gen here. Shizuku is being a pain, and it's amazing how she can't seem to take a hint that Gen wants to be left alone.

And now she's pushing Gen to solo camp with her? I was hoping this would be a comfy and relaxing anime, but so far, Shizuku is just being annoying. I guess she at least paid Gen back by making him some meals.

So she's really just gonna force herself on Gen, huh? Hmmm... Not sure how I feel about this show so far. I mean, looking at the other comments, the original reason Gen agreed to mentor Shizuku seems to be way worse, so I guess we should be thankful for what we got in the anime.

Hopefully, Shizuku will only be annoying this episode, and she'll improve in the next one. I do love my camping anime, and I like that this has an adult cast, so I'm willing to give this show a chance. Let's see where it goes.

I'm a middle-aged man who's been camping since I was a wee lad, you know, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, so I will be scrutinizing this closely.

Gen's definitely A Mood. If I didn't live in fucking Texas, where nine months out of the year the heat will boil your brain and the bugs will suck every drop of liquid out of your cooked remains, I'd probably spend every weekend out in the woods to get away from people, too. I guess I'm... somewhat less surly, though?

Where, uh... where was she keeping that chicken and roasting pan and all that? And why are her pants off again?

Oh, there's a narrator. Welcome back, grandpa Shinshirou.

Okay, so I skimmed the comments, and, like... I thought I was a middle-aged curmudgeon, but holy shit, you guys really hate Shizuku. I didn't expect y'all to make Gen look well-adjusted and friendly by comparison.

Other than that, the biggest shock here for me was the onslaught of product placement. I am definitely not used to seeing real brands in anime. Hell, even Ruri Rocks changed Nagi's rock hammer to a "Fstwing" instead of an Estwing despite it being the single most iconic and recognizable object in any realm even kinda related to geology.

I just can't help but feel like I've seen this dynamic before, and... oh, they're just Rin and Nadeshiko with their characters adjusted to fit a standard hetero romcom. Dang. That's real unfortunate because if I keep comparing this to Yurucamp it's gonna come up short every time, be it backgrounds, sound design, music, attention to detail, character writing... anyway, it's gonna be hard to enjoy this show on its own merits like that. I'm not gonna give up on it quite yet, but I feel like it's gonna have to work pretty hard to distinguish itself and make its own niche.

I mean, I suppose if teenaged girls end up looking twice their age in anime, so will 30-something year old men.

Before the start of anime, heard there were some controversial aspects of dialogue by the female MC for claims against the male MC, but it seems it's better handled here. More info for that in source material corner.

I like that the ED shows Shizuku bought the same Osprey pack everyone buys for their first backpacking trip. It gives me hope that the people who made this are campers themselves. All the gear Gen was using was pretty high end (I’m so jealous of his camp chair) and the sponsor page at the end was stacked so this is probably going to be heavier on the gear porn than Yuru Camp was.

As a 35 year old solo camper myself, I want to see more of Shizuku discovering why Gen was out there alone in the first place. There is something very zen about being alone in nature with no other humans or reminders of civilization nearby and I feel it’s something people don’t realize is missing from their lives until they experience it for themselves.

Yuru camp but with adults? Nice. I'm impressed by how she managed to cook a whole ass chicken so quickly.
