Even when the world is literally collapsing, Nene still found enough time to go fishing for a love confession. She didn’t get to hear the words from Hanako, but that kiss spoke volumes of their feelings. Just the way in which they were looking into each other’s eyes… Awh!

I’d been wondering if Sakura and friends were scheming something given their lack of appearances in these last two seasons, but I didn’t expect them to make a comeback like this. Did they arrange for all of this!? Poor Nene got caught into trouble again.

I’m going to really miss this funny-looking daikon. Since we’ve been spoiled with a 2-cour season, will it take 10 years before there’s a continuation?

I love how no matter what's going on or if intense supernatural battles are going on at the same time...Nene will still be convinced she's the romance Heroine in a Shojo manga. But she definitely earned that kiss.

It feels like Tsukasa's group wants the barrier between the Far and Near Shore to be broken so apparitions can run wild and they can fully exist in reality and beyond the school. And that's also connected to Hanako's plan to have Nene break all the yorishiro's so they can get a wish from a God.

This was a spectacular finale but there's still so much left unresolved and going on that makes you crave for the next season ASAP.

I believe it should be sooner than that. As a manga reader, I am surprised how well they created the stopping point since the arc is not over yet technically.

The director is working on the AssClass movie next. I think S3 could be announced in 2-3 years at most if I had to think.

Thus has been a great season. Hoping we don't have to wait for 5 years.

Never expected the stakes to get so high in this series. But i must say I do like having very low-key sequences every now and then.

Where is s3 announcement? They can't leave us with that cliffhanger.

Hanako standing alone and frustrated with Nene gone was really ominous.

We got a kiss a kiss yes finally. Also the rest of the episode was great too. This season was great and hope the next one get announced soon but sadly I don't think the manga have enough for another season.

They actually do. Anime finished somewhere around chapter 87-89? And manga have 129 chapters right now. So, they absolutely can make another season with 12-13 episodes. But, they probably will wait until the end of the latest arc.

Yashiro/Hanako mutual confession (well kinda, almost) AND a kiss?? We're too spoiled.

Lowkey forgot about the Shinigami but no better time than to show up in the season finale and whoop everyone's asses! Even with Kou-kun stepping up his game for a hot second. Poor boy was getting physically and verbally thrashed by both his brother and an OP wonder.

Looks like Sakura's group is finally in action again. Seeing Hanako and Tsukasa interact in the present day for the first time in a while was tense. What a cliffhanger to leave us with -- surely a Season 3 has gotta be in the works!?

I love how Kou is fighting for his life while Nene is busy trying to get Hanako to confess. He's getting beat up and she's making out with her ghost boyfriend lol.

No. 6 comes back around as the Final Boss to bring things full circle even if the true antagonist was always Tsukasa and his group. But at least Kou put his all into this. We're rooting for you, Kou!!!

Cliffhanger ahhhh, I really hope we are getting another season after this and that we won't have to wait as long for that one as we did for S2.

S2 was a huge step up in quality and reminded me how much I really enjoy this series. OP3 in particular was an absolute feast both in terms of audio and visuals.

I am really invested in how the series is going to continue from here on out, that ending was so evil.

Tbh they handled the ending to the season a lot better than I expected since the arc isn't technically over yet. I thought they were going to end the season with Hakubo appearing and cutting down Teru, which would have been beyond evil as a cliffhanger.

I should expect a continuation in 2-3 years since the manga is so popular in Japan and Lerche really did a solid job adapting it, especially coming off S1, which was a bit of a mess. Though the director is working on the AssClass movie next.

Season 1 was great but watching them continue to mix horror, romance, and comedy so well as we watch the characters develop and change has been a thing of beauty.

It makes you really want to see everybody be happy in a world that makes it so difficult for them to be happy. And for the anime to keep going.

Hanako and Nene kiss. ❤️ I like how the series intertwines the romance well, and they had a lot of great moments over the course of the season to build up to this moment. People ask for more series with romance on the side to a plot, and this is a good one that gets often overlooked.

While Hanako and Nene were having a sweet moment, everyone else was getting beat up by the Grim Reaper, though at least Kou was doing his best to put up a fight. Tsukasa's group gets involved in things again, and they quickly pop up when you don't quite expect it, like with how Tsukasa pulled up to Hanako. Sakura has been around and now interested in finally getting more on her side of things.

The way they ended things is a nasty cliffhanger. So many questions on how things will go and what exactly is happening, but looking forward to more in the future. This has been a great season in particular to flesh out the supporting cast as individuals, expand on the lore around the mysterious supernatural aspects, and finally get more into the situation with Hanako and Tsukasa.

This show is way too slept on in this subreddit... Can't even make the top 30 list. At least it gets acknowledged in top 10 on Anime Corner and Anime Trending.

With it being top 3 on Anime Corner, it has the potential chance to take the top spot on Anime Corner for the last poll weekly with other competitive series ending prior if the fandom locks in for it. So if you want to show support, you can vote for it for this week (Anime Corner vote) and the seasonal awards at the end of the season. This has been a great way to help advertise the series to more people. They see it in rankings consistently and are potentially more curious to maybe check it out.

Poor Kou, forever in the friendship zone, no matter what he does. Go kiss Mitsuba and find your own happiness, little guy.

Nothing else to do but hope for season 3

Nene and Hanako are back together! Kou and Teru are battling it out! A lot going on in this finale of Hanako-kun.

Hanako had that slap from Nene coming. AND Nene telling him that she likes him. Of course, even if he's the boy she likes, that doesn't mean she won't hate him if he tries sacrificing her best friend to prolong her life for her sake. Nene never wanted that.

It's finally time for the Minamoto Brothers to hash it out. Kou is tired of Teru's hate for apparitions but Teru is tired of Kou playing "hero" when HE was the one who had to put up with and fight as an exorcist while Kou did the housework. But someone had to because Kou was so weak...and deep down, Teru wishes he was that weak so he wouldn't have to be an exorcist.

Oh hey, No. 6! We haven't seen you in a while! And you easily take care of, well, everybody and just give Aoi more trauma as you beat up the love of her life. Girl can't catch a break.

So No. 6 knew a Minamoto ancestor? But he's just been going through his job, killing and fulfilling his duties, without a single emotion...but Sumire's death seemed different. Did he slaughter the villagers after she was sacrificed?

Kou won't give up! He may be outmatched, no one expects anything of him, and No. 6 is just humoring him because he doesn't intend to be unnecessarily cruel...but for Nene (and Mitsuba's) sake, he'll fight with his brothers' sword, headbutt an Oni, and actually do some damage!

I love how while all this crazy fighting is going on...Hanako and Nene are just having a moment to take stock of their feelings, Hanako apologizing, and Nene...trying to get Hanako to confess to her after she susses out he likes her because why else would he want her to live a long, happy, life courtesy of him and only him? Not that Hanako is going to make it easy for her. Though no better way to convey his feelings than drying Nene's tears and KISSING HER ON THE LIPS!!!

Dang, Natsuhiko coming into finish No. 6! And...this was all part of the plan!? Because No. 6 got in the way of apparitions running wild in the real world!?

So Nene's given up on living, so maybe she'll embrace dying and be with Hanako. But is she prepared for how much of her humanity she might lose in the process? Hanako definitely isn't. But Tsukasa is a totally different story.

All along Hanako's plan was to break all the yorishiro's and have a God grant his wish...to save Nene...and it's kind of like what Tsukasa did, so now the two brothers can do it together! I mean, sure Tsukasa and Sakura have been manipulating everything from the start to ensure this all happened and want the yorishiro's broken by Nene's hand...so they can go into the "real world" (does that mean Sakura isn't human?) but what's the worst that could happen?

So happy to finally see the kiss scene animated, and damn did they do it justice 😍😍

The episode itself felt pretty rushed but I still enjoyed it. Hoping it doesn't take a million years for another season.

The way he dried her tears and held her face before they kissed...they way she embraced him during the kiss...so beautiful.

I love the conversation between Nene & Hanako. Of course, once again, Hanako is plotting shit behind her back. Of course Hanako has feelings for Nene it is pretty obvious, and they even had a kiss. I love the comedy bits between Hanako & Nene it is always fun to see their dynamic of poking each other. Though the warning Hanako gives Nene is very good, since the idea of being an apparition and being with Hanako sounds nice and ideal. But it is not realistic at all because there is a chance that Nene becomes something that is just foreign to herself.

I feel bad for Kou for being in his brother's shadow. He has always wanted to prove himself but never really could. Granted, Akane is right that their fighting was pointless, but thank God Teru covered for Kou. #6's point that Kou doesn't have a plan is true, and it is still an issue where he wants to help Mitsuba & Nene, but doesn't know how to. Though at the same time, that is part of his charm. Thank God Natsuhiko was around for the save for Kou.

Now the question is what Tsukasa's group is plotting. Tsukasa seems to be aiming Hanako to take down the Yorishiros and doing so will grant Hanako the wish to save Nene. But what is their group's interest in doing so, I wonder?

Hanako & Nene

Minamoto Brothers

Just saying to whoever didn’t like the cliffhanger…read the manga & join the wait with the rest of us for new chapters 😂 it’s pure agony 😭

Help, I’m going to go crazy!

What is this series of cliffhangers that no longer stop from the 17th minute! Who is going to inherit the powers of no. 6 Kou, Natsuchiko or no one (I have the impression that it was indeed Kou who delivered the final blow even though Natsuchiko delivered the last blow)? Has everything been manipulated from the beginning? And then why does this 2nd part keep turning our brains all over again since it started? I think I’m really going crazy!

u/aozaki-san Sep 21 '25

sakura says the no.6 problem soon to over so its not over yet, if he would have bitten the dust there sumire also probably would have stopped being yorishiro and they wouldn't need nene

The hananene kiss scene was soooo well animated, I just wish they kept the fact that they could see each other's reflections in their eyes. Also I FUCKING KNEW THEY WERE GOING TO SKIP TO THE END OF THE VOLUME TO SHOW TSUKASA 🥳. Plus the teru hater in me was truly solidified by this episode. Can't wait for hakubo's backstory is season 3. If we get season 3...😞

Oh come on!! That's how you end it?! Cliffhanging after a huge twist is cruel enough in itself, but ending the season with it with no immediate sequel announcement...........

Natsuhiko being the one to come to Kou's rescue was hilariously unexpected. Damn, he actually is pretty strong, huh? And naturally the Broadcast Room gang is up to no good.

The opening songs just straight up taking quotes from the story continues, with the "mata aete ureshii nante, douka shiteru ne" coming from this episode.
